  • Photogrammetry is a current method of GIS data acquisition. However, as a matter of fact, a large manpower and expenditure for making detailed 3D spatial information is required especially in urban areas where various buildings exist. There are no photogrammetric systems which can automate a process of spatial information acquisition completely. On the other hand, LiDAR has high potential of automating 3D spatial data acquisition because it can directly measure 3D coordinates of objects, but it is rather difficult to recognize the object with only LiDAR data, for its low resolution at this moment. With this background, we believe that it is very advantageous to integrate LiDAR data and stereo CCD images for more efficient and automated acquisition of the 3D spatial data with higher resolution. In this research, the automatic urban object recognition methodology was proposed by integrating ultra highresolution stereo images and LiDAR data. Moreover, a method to enable more reliable and detailed stereo matching method for CCD images was examined by using LiDAR data as an initial 3D data to determine the search range and to detect possibility of occlusions. Finally, intellectual DSMs, which were identified urban features with high resolution, were generated with high speed processing.

  • The interaural level difference (ILD) used for the sound localization using stereo signals is to find the difference in energy that the sound source reaches both ears. The conventional ILD does not consider the time difference of the stereo signals, which is a factor of lowering the accuracy. In this paper, we propose a synchronized ILD that obtains the ILD after synchronizing these time differences. This method uses the cross-correlation function (CCF) to calculate the time difference to reach both ears and use it to obtain synchronized ILD. In order to prove the performance of the proposed method, we conducted two sound localization experiments. In each experiment, the synchronized ILD and CCF or only the synchronized ILD were given as inputs of the deep neural networks (DNN), respectively. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of sound localization with mean error and accuracy of sound localization. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional methods.

  • Stereo image analysis has been an important tool for reconstructing 3D terrain. By In its nature, occlusion is one of difficulties we cannot avoid in stereo matching. This paper presents a study on occlusion detection by employing LRC(Left-Right Check) and OCC(Occlusion Constraint). Experimental results show that these method can effectively detect occluded regions and those regions are usually occurred around object contours and scene discontinuity.

  • This paper presents the method of 3D reconstruction of the depth information from the endoscopic stereo scopic images. After camera modeling to find camera parameters, we performed feature-point based stereo matching to find depth information. Acquired some depth information is finally 3D reconstructed using the NURBS(Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) algorithm. The final result image is helpful for the understanding of depth information visually.

  • Signal is composed of the independent components that can describe itself. These components can distinguish itself from any other signals and be extracted by analysis itself. This algorithm is called Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and image signal is considered as linear combination of independent components and features that is the weighted vector of independent component. This algorithm is already used in order to extract the good feature for image classification and very effective In this paper, we'll explain the method of stereo matching using independent component analysis and show the experimental result.

  • A method of estimating the distance using single zoom camera limits a distance range(only optical axis) in field of view. So, in this paper, we propose a method of estimating the distance information in Stereoscopic display using the stereo zoom lens module for estimating the distance in the wide range. The binocular stereo zoom lens system is composed using a horizontal moving camera module. The left and right images are acquired in polarized stereo monitor for getting the conversion and estimating a distance. The error distance is under 10mm which has difference between optically a traced distance and an estimated distance in left and right range $(0mm{\sim}500mm)$ at center. This presents the system using a function of the zoom and conversion has more precise distance information than that of conversion control. Also, a method of estimating a distance from horizontal moving camera is more precise value than that from toe-in camera by comparing the error distance of the two camera methods.

  • This paper suggests an intersection method to improve the accuracy of three-dimensional position from heterogeneous satellite stereo images, and addresses validation of the suggested method following the experimental results. The three-dimensional position is achieved by determining an intersection point of two rays that have been precisely adjusted through the sensor orientation. In case of conventional homogeneous satellite stereo images, the intersection point is generally determined as a mid-point of the shortest line that links two rays in at least square fashion. In this paper, a refined method, which determines the intersection point upon the ray adjusted at the higher resolution image, was used to improve the positioning accuracy of heterogeneous satellite images. Those heterogeneous satellite stereo pairs were constituted using two KOMPSAT-2 and QuickBird images of covering the same area. Also, the positioning results were visually compared in between the conventional intersection and the refined intersection, while the quantitative analysis was performed. The results demonstrated that the potential of refined intersection improved the positioning accuracy of heterogeneous satellite stereo pairs; especially, with a weak geometry of the heterogeneous satellite stereo, the greater effects on the accuracy improvement.

  • In this paper, a new stereo image compression algorithm is suggested in which the residual image extracted from the stereo image by the disparity-compensated prediction method is compressed using the wavelet transform considering the inter & intra correlation between subbands. The compression performance of the proposed method is significantly improved by comparing with the conventional algorithm such as EPIC, EPWIC & JPEG through the computer simulation and the PSNR is also increased about 3.5dB compared with the EPIC. Finally, the stereo image having a good 3D effect can be reconstructed from the compressed image data by the proposed method.

  • Usually stereo matching methods have some limitations in finding out matching points specially at the boundaries of objects This paper proposes a new method which reduces noises incurred in the process of determining disparity with our energy-based stereo matching method. Our method exploits segmentation results so that pixels within the intra-region have similar disparity values.
