  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the effect of Process parameters such as internal pressure, amount of axial feeding, and frictional condition between the die and the material on the tube hydro-formability. For carbon steel tubes(STKM 12A, STBH 410 and SPS 290), simple bulging, circular bulging and Tee-fitting tests are performed to evaluate the hydro-formability of these materials which is determined by deformation characteristics such as thickness distribution, forming height and branch dome shape. The formabilities obtained from these tests are analysed and compared with the results of the numerical simulation.

  • In the present paper, a new high-order simple-input analytical method is used to study thick laminated composite straight tubes subjected to combined axial force, torque and bending moment. The most general displacement field of elasticity for an arbitrary laminated composite straight tube is obtained to analytically calculate stresses under combined loadings based on a layerwise method. The accuracy of the proposed method is subsequently verified by comparing the numerical results obtained using the proposed method with finite element method (FEM) and experimental data. The results show good corresponded. The proposed method provides advantages in terms of computational time compared to FEM.

  • Concrete in a CFT(Concrete Filled Tube) column has enhanced strength and ductility because it is triaxially confined by a steel tube. But CFT columns are designed based on linear analyses by stress block method without the confining effect or the nonlinearity of the concrete. These make the significantly difference between the analysis results and the experimental results. Thus in this study, a nonlinear CFT column model was developed considering the confining effect on the concrete in a CFT column. This developed model was verified by experimental results from other researchers and compared with the results of various specifications. With the developed model, parametric studies were performed and the developed column model showed reasonable and accurate results.

  • This study presents the techniques to manufacture the model concrete and model reinforcement for the 1/5-scale 3-story reinforced concrete frame. The used model concrete has sufficient workability but shows a little lower strength than expected model steel was made of commercial $\phi$3.2mm and $\phi$2.0mm wire by using deforming device and vacuum tube electric furnace. The yield strength can be simulated but it was difficult to simulate the other properties. The load cell was specially manufactured to measure the shear force in the columns of the first story. The carrying frame and the hinge adapter of artificial mass are explained. The special problems in the process of construction of model are also dressed.

  • Rapid mold heating has been recent issue to enable the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Induction heating is an efficient way to heat a conductive workpiece by means of high-frequency electric current caused by electromagnetic induction. Because the induction heating is a convenient and efficient way of indirect heating, it has various applications such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, melting, and mold heating. The present study covers an experimental investigation on the rapid heating using the induction heating and rapid cooling using a vortex tube in order to eliminate an excessive cycle time increase. Experiments are performed in the case of a steel cup mold core with various heating and cooling conditions. Temperature is measured during heating and cooling time, from which appropriate mold heating and cooling conditions can be obtained.

  • The effect of hysteresis in saturated pool boiling of water from stainless-steel surfaces has been investigated experimentally. Several sets of test sections of different surface conditions, geometries, orientations, diameters, lengths, and water types were tested at atmospheric pressure. The experimental results show that hysteresis effects in pool boiling heat transfer are not significant, but some appreciable trends are observed in accordance with parameters change. At higher heat flux regions, the curve for heat flux decrease is shifted to the left side of the curve for heat flux increase. To clarify hysteresis in pool boiling and to give some improvement on published correlations, four empirical correlations are obtained in terms of tube diameter, surface roughness, and tube wall superheat.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the characteristics of the magnetic abrasive using sludge on polishing of internal finishing of seamless stainless steel (STS304) tube applying magnetic abrasive polishing. Either white alumina (WA) or green carborundum (GC) grain was used to resin sludge at a low temperature, and the sludge of magnetic abrasive powder was synthesized and crushed into 200 meshes. Surface roughness was measured before and after polishing, and more than $40\%$ of improvement of surface roughness was achieved when WA grain was used under a specific condition. Even though some degree of surface roughness due to deeper scratches still exist, but the result showed a prospective magnetic abrasive polishing using sludge with WA or GC grains.

  • Demagnetization for a tube sample which was made of a galvanized steel sheet was performed by applying a magnetic field with a decrement to remove the remanent magnetization of the material. An orthogonal fluxgate magnetic field sensor was used to measure a magnetic field created from a ferromagnetic material. To evaluate the remanent magnetization, the measured magnetic fields were separated into two magnetic field components by the remnant magnetization and the induced one. The horizontal and the vertical bias fields should be controlled separately during demagnetization to remove the horizontal and the vertical components of the remanent magnetization of the tube sample.

  • The effects of the narrowed upside gap on nucleate pool boiling heat transfer in a vertical annulus were investigated experimentally. For the study, a stainless steel tube with a diameter of 25.4 mm and saturated water that kept an atmospheric condition were used. The ratio between the gaps measured at the upper and the lower regions of the annulus ranged from 0.18 to 1. Two different lengths of the modified gap also were investigated. The change in heat transfer due to the modified gap became evident as the gap ratio decreased and the length of the gap increased. As the gap ratio became less than 0.51, a significant decrease in heat transfer was observed compared to the plain annulus. The longer gap size resulted in an additional decrease in heat transfer. The major cause for the tendency was attributed to the formation of lumped bubbles around the upper region of the annulus followed by the increased flow friction between the fluid and the surface around the modified gap.
