Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC), is characterized by its high compressive strength and advanced tensile behavior that is much superior to those of conventional concrete. In order to apply this new material in practice, the bond characteristics of UHPC were evaluated in this study. Pull-out tests between UHPC and deformed steel rebar were carried out according to the modified RILEM test method, and were verified by finite element analysis. From the test results showed that UHPC presents 5 to 10 times higher bond strength compared to normal strength concrete, this study suggested remarkably reduced development length and concrete cover comparing to existing specifications. The test results of 700 MPa high strength steel rebar demonstrated the applicability of high strength steel to UHPC. In addition, the transfer length measurements of seven-wire strand in UHPC specimens indicated that the transfer length limit set by the current design code is very conservative for UHPC.
In this study, the structure behavior of RC slab and SC shear wall connection was investigated. Also experimental study was performed to evaluate the factor of safety of demand shear connection strength in KEPIC SNG Standard. As a result, shear friction strength of connection was known about 300kN and shear strength of rebar increased according to the displacement increase. With the installment of the lower rebars, 40% shear strength increased compared to the non-rebar specimen.

The cracking behavior of prestressed concrete members is important for the rational design of prestressed concrete structures. However, the test data on the cracking behavior of prestressed concrete structures are very limited. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the crack spacing and crack width in transversely post-tensioned decks of concrete box girder bridges under applied loading. For this purpose, large scale test members of concrete box girder segments were fabricated and tested. The crack widths, crack spacings and crack patterns were investigated for various load levels. The crack widths and steel strains were continuously monitored during the loading process. To derive a rational predicton equation for crack width, the bond characteristics of post-tensioned steel and nonprestressed rebar in the PSC members were explored first. This was done by measuring the strains of prestressing steel and nonprestressed rebar in the test members under loading. A simple equation for the prediction of maximum crack width in transversely post-tensioned concrete one-way slabs is proposed by considering bond characteristic of prestressing steel and nonprestressed reinforcement. The comparison of proposed equation with experimental data shows good correlation. The present study indicates that ACI and CEB-FIP code equations exhibit rather large deviation from test data on prestressed concrete members.
The steel ribs which are used to enhance the supporting capability of the shotcrete are estimated to be very effective, but their characteristics depending on the types of steel support are not well understood enough to be considered in the design stage. This paper describes the behavior of the shotcrete reinforced by various types of steel supports. Through flexural toughness test, major strength parameters such as flexural tensile strength, equivalent flexural tensile strength and residual tensile strength were obtained and used in the numerical analyses. Test results show that steel rebar was not as dependable as H-beam or lattice girder but close examination of the test results revealed that the specimen was failed in shear because of the shorter span than desired. Therefore tests on the properly dimensioned specimens are necessary for valid evaluation of the steel rebar reinforced shotcrete. In the first set of numerical stability analyses, shotcrete and steel supports were modelled separately. Then compared with the second set of analyses in which shotcrete and steel supports were regarded as a composite material. The two results coincided reasonably and this equivalent model turned out to be useful.

Reinforced concrete structures have been used for a long time. However, corrosion problem in reinforcing steel is inevitable, which results in the degradation of performance and the shortening of the life of structures. To overcome such problems, FRP(Fiber Reinforced Polymer) rebars have been developed. Due to their corrosion resistance and their superior mechanical properties, FRP rebars are increasingly applied to concrete structures in other countries. To obtain the composite action between FRP rebars and concrete, sufficient bond between two materials must be secured. But, the behavior of FRP rebars is different from that of steel rebars. Therefore, it is necessary to understand and develop the proper bond mechanism of FRP rebars to use them in concrete structures. This paper presents analytical results to investigate the bond-slip relationship between FRP rebars and concrete based on pull out tests.

This study is to investigate the bond characteristics of glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP) reinforcing bars in concrete by pullout test experimentally. Three different types of GFRP bars with different surface deformations were considered in this study. Also, standard deformed steel reinforcing bar with or without epoxy-coating were included for the comparisons of bond strength. All test procedures including specimens preparation, test apparatus and measuring devices were made according to the recommendation of CSA(Canadian Standards Association) Standard S806-02. From the test results, it was found that small surface indentations contributed to increase the bond strength of GFRP bar significantly. Based on the limited test results till now, the bond strength of GFRP bar with sand-coated deformation commercially available in foreign market is around $80\%$ of that of steel deformed bars.

Reinforced concrete(R/C) structures need repair and rehabilitation due to the deterioration such as a crack, spalling and disintergration. Numerous repair materials which are currently used in construction fields without any regulation are examined in terms of their serviceabilities and effectiveness. In this paper section of existing R/C beams are enlarged with repair materials, that is, epoxy, latex or premix. And then they are strengthened with rebar, steel poate of CFRP on the tension face. Structural behaviors of strengthened beams are investigated both statically and dynamically and they are compared with each. This paper summarizes the overall research plan.
In this study, nonlinear analyses of prestressed concrete(PSC) test beams for inservice inspection of prestressed concrete containments for CANDU nuclear power plants are presented. In the analysis the material nonlinearities of concrete, rebar and prestressing steel are used. To reduce the numerical instability with respect to the used finite element mesh size, the tension stiffening effect has been considered. For concrete, the tensile stress-strain relationship derived from tests is modified and the stress-strain curve of rebar is assumed as a simple bilinear model. The stress-strain curve of prestressing steel is applied as a multilineal curve with the first straight line up to 0.8fpu. To prove the validity of the applied material models, the behavior and strength of the PSC test specimens tested to failure have been evaluated. A reasonable agreement between the experimental results and the predictions is obtained. Parametric studies on the tension stiffening effects, the impact of prestressing losses with time, and the compressive strength of concrete have been conducted.

Uniaxial tension test of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bar reinforced concrete prisms was performed. The objective was to investigate the adequate cover thickness of the GFRP rebars. The tension stiffening effect of GFRP bar reinforced concrete was also studied. The test variables included rebar types (conventional steel rebar and two different GFRP rebars) and cover thicknesses (five different cover thicknesses ranging between 1-3db). Normal strength concrete was used. Cracking patterns on concrete surface and cracking loads were careful1y observed during the direct tensile test. The test results indicated that the adequate cover thickness of the GFRP rebars may even be larger than that of the steel rebars and that the cover thickness of 2db commonly specified for the GFRP rebars may not be large enough. The tension stiffening effect of the GFRP rebars was also quantified and documented from the test results.
