  • This study presents an innovative AI-driven approach to assess the ultimate axial load in Double-Skinned Profiled Steel sheet Composite Walls (DPSCWs). Utilizing a dataset of 80 entries, seven input parameters were employed, and various AI techniques, including Linear Regression, Polynomial Regression, Support Vector Regression, Decision Tree Regression, Decision Tree with AdaBoost Regression, Random Forest Regression, Gradient Boost Regression Tree, Elastic Net Regression, Ridge Regression, and LASSO Regression, were evaluated. Decision Tree Regression and Random Forest Regression emerged as the most accurate models. The top three performing models were integrated into a hybrid approach, excelling in accurately estimating DPSCWs' ultimate axial load. This adaptable hybrid model outperforms traditional methods, reducing errors in complex scenarios. The validated Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model showcases less than 1% error, enhancing reliability. Correlation analysis highlights robust predictions, emphasizing the importance of steel sheet thickness. The study contributes insights for predicting DPSCW strength in civil engineering, suggesting optimization and database expansion. The research advances precise load capacity estimation, empowering engineers to enhance construction safety and explore further machine learning applications in structural engineering.

  • In this study, the fatigue tests are performed on simply-supported R/C beams strengthened with steel plate and CFS (Carbon fiber sheet). Analysis results by Weibull distribution are compared with the test data. The unknown Weibull distribution parameters are estimated based on observations recorded in fatigue test. Safety factors for the number of cycles and the stress level are obtained. S-N-P curves are also generated from these testes and probabilities of failure.

  • Fatigue strength of concrete is ususlly presented by the Wohler Curve. But, new dimension T(time) from the view point of cyclic creep concept should be considerd. This paper presented four variable F-N-T-R relationship, this four variable relationship simultaneously accounts for the time effect and the effect of load rate. And analytical models are presented to predict fatigue strength of R/C beam strengthened with steel plate and carbon fiber sheet. Also, the correlation between the ratio of stress and the fatigue life was investigated.

  • We have studied on welding dissimilar materials of cold-reduced carbon steel sheet and stainless steel sheet together by using laser beam. It is well known that stainless steel is so strong againt rust and heat, while cold-reduced carbon steel is widely used in various parts of industry. In this research we have performed some experiments to know the possibility of welding dissimilar materials using laser beam by adjusting the power output of 3kW laser. Other conditions of the experiments were as follows : the welding speed was varied in the range between 2m/min and 7m/min, argon gas and helium gas were used as shield gas, the flow value of shield gas was ranged between $10{\ell}/min$ and $30{\ell}/min$, and the gap of two materials was ranged between 0mm and 0.3mm. In order to ascertain of the welded surface, we have done the tensile strength testing, the hardness testing and the microscope observation. As a result, we have found that tensile strength was the highest at the condition of the welding speed of 4, the flow value of $20{\ell}/min$, the gap of two materials 0, and the use of helium gas. Above testings have also showed that the tensile strength was generally satisfactory since the penetration of welding was almost complete due to the thinness of the materials. In addition, the formation of the welded area was excellent when it had the highest tensile strength.

  • In the modern days, a galvannealed sheet steel (GA) instead of a cold rolled steel sheet has been widely used as an alternative to extend the life of automotive body. Accordingly, the mechanical properties of GA for automobiles were taken into account and studied by examining their variation with annealing temperature. To clarify the effect of surface features on the mechanical and frictional properties of GA, the several tests such as nanoindentation, Vickers hardness and nano scratch test were executed. The frictional characteristics of coating layers of GA were examined through nano scratch test in this study. The friction coefficient of coating layers on the surface was obtained from the nano scratch. The variation of friction coefficient versus velocity and pressure was taken into consideration in this paper. Hardness and elastic modulus of coating layer were increased as increasing annealing temperature.

  • Recently, application of arc welding to galvanized carbon steel sheet is on the increasing Ould in the fields of automobile and construction industries. In arc welding process, zinc is evaporated in weld pool, even under the appropriate welding condition and produce blowhole and/or pit. Zinc gas cause instability of arc and increase spatter and fume. This research is purposed to minimize the heat-input and the formation of porosities in the welded joint of the galvanized carbon steel sheet using variable polarity AC wave pulse MIG welding system. An appropriate welding condition which showed low spatter and good bead appearance was acquired by applying the AC pulse MIG welding machine to DC duplicated MIG welding with the solid wire. When oxygen gas was added to shield gas of MIG welding for galvanized steel sheet, arc length was increased and arc stability was improved. In the AC duplicated welding, the loss of galvanized layer was decreased as the amount of heat-input was decreased when the EN ratio was increased under the condition that average welding current was evenly set.
