In a railway vehicle, corrugated steel panel is widely used for the floor panel because of its high bending stiffness and light weight. However, this panel shows lower sound insulation performance than that of the plate with the same weight. Especially, in a particular frequency band, transmission loss (TL) rapidly decreases and it results in the deterioration of TL of the overall floor panel. This study identifies that the remarkable drop in TL is caused from the local resonance of the periodic corrugated structure. This study shows that the frequency band of the TL drop can be controlled by the proper design of the corrugated structure. In addition, improvement effect of TL by attaching foam and glass wool is estimated by experiment. The purpose of the study is to provide the practical information for the improvement of the sound insulation performance of the corrugated steel.

The use of stainless steel crowns are indicated for restoration of primary or permanent molars with proximal dental caries, extensive dental caries, or previous pulp treatment with increased danger of tooth fracture. Stainless steel crowns were introduced by Humphrey in 1950. For their improved durability, longevity, and success rate, they have been strongly considered for restoring extensive and multi-surfaced dental caries of molars in pediatric dentistry. However, they also have shortcomings, such as possibility of pulpal exposure or damaging proximal surface of adjacent teeth. In addition, when oversized stainless steel crowns are used, eruption of the adjacent permanent teeth may be disturbed by their prominent margin. As a means to compensate the shortcomings of stainless steel crowns, use of orthodontics bands may be considered. It is an alternative restoration method, where an orthodontic band is placed on a tooth first and cavity is restored with filling material, such as composite resin, glass ionomer, or amalgam. The use of an orthodontic band is indicated for molar restoration with cervical dental caries, extensive dental caries, enamel hypoplasia, or previous pulp treatment. Because it requires shorter chair time compared to stainless steel crown, its application is very useful for children with poor behavior. However, restoration using an orthodontic band requires good oral hygiene after its application. This case report illustrates the conservative restoration of primary molars and permanent molars with extensive dental caries using orthodontic bands.
The ring gears of automobile parts are manufactured generally process chart of which is as follows : forging ${\rightarrow}$ annealing or normalizing ${\rightarrow}$ rough machining ${\rightarrow}$ hardening(Quenching-Tempering or carburizing process) ${\rightarrow}$ finish machining. Isothermal annealing process after forging is most effective in the side of improvment of machinability. On this study we selected two kinds of steel;SCM415, SCM435 of most universal and investigated microstructures to find out most suitable condition of heat treatment in proportion continuous cooling and isothermal annealing. As the cooling rate is $5^{\circ}C$ per minute in continuous cooling process, martensite and bainite are coexisted with ferrite and pearlite in SCM435 steel. If the cooling rate is slower than $5^{\circ}C$ per minute, microstructure were only ferrite and pearlite but formation of band structure can't be avoid. On the other hand, microstructure is only ferrite and pearlite regardless of cooling rate because carbon content of SCM415 steel is low. Moreover formation of band structure isn't exposed by faster cooling rate. Most optimal temperature of the isothermal annealing is from $650^{\circ}C$ to $680^{\circ}C$ in SCM435 steel. When holding time is 60 minute with $650^{\circ}C$, the identical ferrite and pearlite microstructures can be obtained.

This study aimed at investigating quasi-static and dynamic torsional deformation behavior of three API X70 and X80 linepipe steels. Quasi-static and dynamic torsional tests were conducted on these steels. having different grain sizes and volume fractions of acicular ferrite and polygonal ferrite, using a torsional Kolsky bar. The test data were then compared via microstructures and adiabatic shear band formation,. The dynamic torsional test results indicated that the steels rolled in the single phase region had higher maximum shear stress than the steel rolled in the two phase region, because the microstructures of the steel rolled in the single phase region were composed mainly of acicular ferrites. In the X80 steel rolled in the single phase region, the increased dynamic torsional properties could be explained by a decrease in the overall effective grain size due to the presence of acicular ferrite having smaller effective grain size. The possibility of adiabatic shear band formation was analyzed from the energy required for void initiation and variation in effective grain size.
In the present study, we comparatively investigated the microstructures of two hot-rolled stainless steel clad plates; STS 304L - low carbon steel A516-70N and STS 316L - A516-70N. The STS 304L/A516-70N clad plate (Clad_304L_Ni) had a Ni-interlayer between stainless steel and carbon steel and a 90 ㎛ thick deformation band of unrecrystallized austenite grains on the stainless steel. The STS 316L/A516-70N clad plate (Clad_316L) had no interlayer and almost fully recrystallized austenite grains. Clad_304L_Ni exhibited the thinner a decarburized layer in carbon steel and a total carburized layer in stainless steel than Clad_316L. However, a severely carburized layer in stainless steel was thicker for Clad_304L_Ni than Clad_316L. Hardness profiles near the interface of clad plates matched well with microstructures at locations where the hardness values were measured.
In grain oriented electrical steel process, hot band annealing has thought to be essential for obtaining good magnetic properties. New hot rolling method of heavy reduction in early hot rolling stage was applied to obtain good magnetic properties in GO process without hot band annealing. Hot rolling was carried out by varyinghot rolling reduction distribution along hot rolling pass. The heavy hot rolling reduction in rear stand improves the magnetic flux density in the case of no hot band annealing. The hot band specimens of the heavy reduction in front stand shows the elongated hot deformed microstructures in the center layer and strong {001}<110> texture. On the contrary, the heavily reduced specimens in rear stand shows the recrystallization in the center layer of hot band and strong {111}<112> and {110}<001> textures.
In this paper, fatigue tests were carried out at stress test levels of 461 MPa, 441 MPa, and 431 MPa by using smooth specimen of$2_{1/4}$ Cr-1 Mo steel with the stress ratio(R) of 0.05. The initiation, growth and coalescense process of the major cracks and sub-cracks among the fatigue cracks on the smooth specimen are investigated and measured under each stress level at a constant cycle ratio by the replica technique with optical microscope. Some of the important results are as follows: In spite of the difference of stress levels, the major crack data gather into a small band in the curve of surface crack length and crack depth against cycle ratio N/Nf. The sub-crack data, however, deviate from the band of the major crack. The growth rates, da/dN, of major and sub-crack plotted against the stress intensity factor range, ${\Delta}K$, have the tendency to be compressed on a relatively small band. But it is more effective to predict fatigue life through major cracks. The propagation behavior of surface microcracks on the smooth specimens coincides with that of the specimen having an artificial small surface defect or through crack.

Recrystallization textures of ferritic stainless steel sheets of STS 430 were varied by means of different cold rolling procedures. The conventional normal rolling led to the evolution of strong through-thickness texture gradients in the final recrystallization texture, while the cross-rolling led to a decrease in texture gradients. Micro-texture observation by EBSD revealed that the formation of band-like orientation colonies formed close to the center layer was responsible for ridging. Modification of the recrystallization texture and microstructure by cross-rolling destroyed band-like orientation colonies and consequently reduced the ridging height.

A two-dimensional nonlinear finite element model is developed to simulate time-dependent cracking of reinforced concrete members under service loads. To predict localized cracking, the crack band model is employed to model individual crack opening. In conjunction with the crack band model, a bond-interface element is used to model the slip between concrete and reinforcing steel permitting large slip displacements between the concrete element nodes and the steel truss element nodes at crack openings. The time-dependent effects of concrete creep and shrinkage are incorporated into the smeared crack model as inelastic pre-strains in an iterative solution procedure. Two test examples are shown to verify the finite element model with good agreement between the model and the observed test results.

It has been known that lab splices of the longitudinal reinforcement steel in bridge columns are not desirable for seismic performance, but it is sometimes unavoidable. Lap splices were usually be located in the plastic hinge region of most bridge columns that were constructed before the adoption of the seismic design provision of Korea Bridge Design Specification on 1992. This research is to evaluate the seismic performance of reinforced concrete bridge piers with lap splicing of longitudinal reinforcement in the plastic hinge region, and to develop the enhancement scheme of their seismic capacity by retrofitting with steel bands. It was observed that RC bridge specimens with lap-spliced longitudinal steels appeared to fail at low curvature and displacement ductility, but significant improvement was appeared in the ductility of RC specimens with steel bands retrofitted around the plastic hinge region.
