The Saemangeum Reservoir was constructed in 2006 as a part of Saemangeum reclamation project in which desalination has been also carried out. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for predicting changes in fish distribution in the Saemangeum area with respect to the desalination processand to identify current status of fish distribution along with salinity levels. Fish sampling and measurement of salinity were conducted 4 times from February to October in 2012 at 10 sites within the Saemangeum Reservoir. A total of 71 species classified into 34 families were confirmed, and dominant and subdominant species were Thryssa kammalensis (16.1%) and Konosirus punctatus (12.8%), respectively. Saltwater fishes were still dominant at the Saemangeum Reservoir. Study sites were classified into four groups (A=St. 1, 6; B=St. 2, 3, 7, 8; C=St. 4, 9, 10; D=St. 5) by Bray-Curtis cluster analysis. Species composition of each group was closely related with salinity level: group A corresponding to 0.2 psu, B to 14.2 psu, C to 19.5 psu, and D to 23.5 psu.

In the near future, many countries, including the Republic of Korea, will face a significant increase in low level radioactive waste (LLW) from nuclear power plant decommissioning. The purpose of this paper is to look at blending as a method for enhancing disposal options for low-level radioactive waste from the decommissioning of nuclear reactors. The 2007 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission strategic assessment of the status of the U.S. LLW program identified the need to move to a risk-informed and performance-based regulatory approach for managing LLW. The strategic assessment identified blending waste of varying radionuclide concentrations as a potential means of enhancing options for LLW disposal. The NRC's position is that concentration averaging or blending can be performed in a way that does not diminish the overall safety of LLW disposal. The revised regulatory requirements for blending LLW are presented in the revised NRC Branch Technical Position for Concentration Averaging and Encapsulation (CA BTP 2015). The changes to the CA BTP that are the most significant for NPP operation, maintenance and decommissioning are reviewed in this paper and a potential application is identified for decommissioning waste in Korea. By far the largest volume of LLW from NPPs will come from decommissioning rather than operation. The large volumes in decommissioning present an opportunity for significant gains in disposal efficiency from blending and concentration averaging. The application of concentration averaging waste from a reactor bio-shield is also presented.

As the needs for fast wireless communication technology in various fields, including companies, individuals, etc., grows, many research projects related to the coverage of propagation are being carried out for plaining optimized communication services. On the other hand, there are some limitations in surveying and analyzing propagation in highland areas. To provide a better communication service of a new service, a range of radio environment conditions based on a wide radio bandwidth (selection of propagation model, correction of value in accordance with radio bandwidth, etc.) should be considered. In particular, radio environment conditions are becoming increasingly sophisticated. By the early detection of real-time changes in the radio spectrum, which is based on an examination and research of regional occupied band width condition, proper measures should be established. To make a proper solution of above, the basic real-time analysis of spectrum distribution status by regional groups is necessary. In addition, the establishment of prompt measures should be enable by stored or analyzed radio data. In an attempt to predict reliable propagation coverage, this thesis examines the limited propagation data with HTZ Warfare, which were collected from domestic high land sites faced with limited access. Furthermore, a comparative result value evaluation for an optimized propagation model was performed through testing simulations, and frequency-dependent and propagation model-dependent analysis.
By accessing the current status of FPD system use in the hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province as well as the entrance skin dose and the image quality evaluation realized by C-D Phantom, and the image assessment by the medical professionals regarding the radiography for the extremity, the following results were derived. 1. According to the evaluation made in the actual use of FPD system (12 machines), the grid ratio varied from 8:1 to 13:1, and 6 machines used the grid ratio with 12:1, realizing the largest number. Among the machines, there were 8 machines that allowed a removable grid while 3 machines did use a removable grid (25.0%). 2. When it came to the equipments used for the experiment, it showed that the amount of the entrance skin dose increased from 4.13 times up to 4.79 times with the grid use. 3. The difference in the entrance skin dose depending on the changes in the exposure condition(0.5times or 2.0times) was not significantly different regardless of the patients' thickness. 4. In terms of the image quality depending on C-D Phantom, the grid use was distinguished well. However, the images were well distinguishable as the exposure condition got increased. 5. In the clinical assessment, the grid use was less effective for the Hand PA, which was considered to shoot a thin body part. It was evaluated that the grid use was preferred for the Knee AP, which was shooting for a relatively thick body part. Nonetheless, 3 out of 5 people said that they would not use the grid if the entrance skin dose to reduced.
This study aims to find out changes of marital status and average marital life expectancy in Korea according to educational attainment. The study produces Korean marriage life table to accomplish the goal of study by introducing Wolfbein-Wool style working life table. Specific data utilized in this study are collected from the Population & Housing Census 2005 and Death Census 2005. Educational attainment is divided into four categories to accommodate to this study: elementary school course and lower, middle school course, high school course, college course and higher. Marriage rate, divorce rate, widowhood rate and death rate according to educational attainment are used as basicdata to analyze marital life expectancy. The results of this study are as follows: 1. As subjects age is younger, the average marital life expectancy of the highly educated tends to be higher. The disparity of average marital life expectancy according to educational attainment is apt to become narrow as subjects age is older. However, the gap between people who graduated from middle school and high school in older age group does not distinctive. 2. Males marital life expectancy is higher than females controlling for their educational attainment. 3. Males live with their wife for most of their lives but females live alone more than 10 years in every single educational categories. Based on the above, this study concludes that the average marital life expectancy is differentiated among age and sex according to educational attainment. Marital rate tends to be higher as educational level is higher. Divorce rate is lower in the highlyeducated group as their age is younger but this is apt to reverse as age is older. Furthermore, bereavement rate shows division according to educational attainmentsince one tends to marry other who has similar level of education with him or her. Therefore, educational attainment acts as an significant factor in Korean average life expectancy.
Purpose: Distinguishing different types of implants and assessing the position and size of implants by radiologic exam after orbital wall reconstruction is important in determining the surgery outcome and forecasting prognosis. We observed time-dependent density changes in three types of implants (porous polyethylene, resorbing plate and titanium mesh plate) by performing facial bone CT after orbital wall reconstructions. Methods: A total of 32 patients, who had underwent orbital wall fracture surgery from October 2006 to March 2009 and received facial bone CT as outpatients at 1 postoperative year were included in the study. Follow-up facial bone CT was performed on the patients pre- operatively, 1 month post-operatively, and 1 year post-operatively to observe the status of the orbital implants. Medpor $^{(R)}$ (Porex Surgical, Inc., Newnan, Ga.) was used as porous polyethylene and followed-up in 14 cases; for resorbing plate, Synthes mesh plate (Synthes, Oberdorf, Switzerland) was used in the reconstruction, and followed-up in 11 cases; and titanium mesh plate usage was followed-up in 7 cases. Computed tomographic scan (CT) and water's view were done for radiography, and hounsfield unit (HU) was used to compare density of those facial bone CT. Wilcoxon signed rank test was applied to statistically verify measurement difference in each group of hounsfield units. Results: Facial bone CT examination performed in 1 month post-operative showed that the density of porous polyethylene, resorbing plate and titanium mesh plate were -42.07, 105.67 and 539.48 on average, respectively. Among the three types of implants, titanium mesh plate showed the highest density due to its radiopaque feature. Following up the density of three types of implants in CT during 1 year after the orbital wall fracture surgery, the density of porous polyethylene increased in 10.52 House Field Units and the resorbing plate was decreased in 26.87 HouseField Units. There were no significant differences between densities in 1 month post-operatively and 1 year post-operatively in each group ($p{\geq}0.05$). Conclusion: We performed facial bone CT on patients with orbital fractures during follow-up period, distinguishing the types of implants by the different concentration of implant density, and the densities showed little change even at 1 year post-operative. To observe how implant densities change in facial bone CT, further studies with longer follow-up periods should be carried out.
Background As the demand for cosmetic surgery continues to rise, plastic surgery programs and the training core curriculum have evolved to reflect these changes. This study aims to evaluate the perceived quality of current cosmetic surgery training in terms of case exposure and educational methods. Methods A 16-question survey was sent to graduates who completed their training at a U.S. plastic surgery training program in 2017. The survey assessed graduates' exposure to cosmetic surgery, teaching modalities employed and their overall perceived competence. Case complexity was characterized by the minimum number of cases needed by the graduate to feel confident in performing the procedure. Results There was a 25% response rate. The majority of respondents were residents (83%, n=92) and the remaining were fellows (17%, n=18). Almost three quarters of respondents were satisfied with their cosmetic training. Respondents rated virtual training as the most effective learning modality and observing attendings' patients/cases as least effective. Perceived competence was more closely aligned with core curriculum status than case complexity, i.e. graduates feel more prepared for core cosmetic procedures despite being more technically difficult than non-core procedures. Conclusions Despite the variability in cosmetic exposure during training, most plastic surgery graduates are satisfied with their aesthetic training. Incorporation of teaching modalities, such as virtual training, can increase case exposure and allow trainees more autonomy. The recommended core curriculum is adequately training plastic surgery graduates for common procedures and more specialized procedures should be consigned to aesthetic fellowship training.
This paper defined the concept of unsold land and diagnosed the cause of unsold land of LH business site. The results are showing as follows. First, unsold land is defined as land could not be sold until the completion of the project, and plan to sell the unsold land can be changed partially. Second, the status of unsold land in the 226 project sites were analyzed. $146km^2$ area corresponding to 74.8% of the total capital area($195km^2$) are unsold. By purpose, co-residential($38km^2$), industry($21km^2$), exclusive residential($16.4km^2$), commercial business($12.5km^2$), education($10.2km^2$) was larger in order. Third, value enhancement target project sites were selected and its symptoms and the cause of unsold land were analyzed. For the project site over average unsold rate, 6 sites located in province and 2 sites located in capital region were selected through collecting the practitioners and expert opinion. These 8 sites are characterized that sale of land for medium and large co-residential, urban support facilities, block-shaped house and attached house was inactive. Also, these sites commonly experienced economic fluctuations, changes in market demand, supply and demand mismatch, inflexible planning standards.
This study examined the morphology and physical and chemical characteristics of the Changpyeong series developed on gently sloping to rolling relief on dissected old paddiplains and terraces. This soil has dark brown silty clay loam A horizons, very thick dark red to red silty clay or clay Bt horizons, and C horizons of old alluvial materials frequently with strongly weathered round cobbles and pebbles. It is strongly acid with a low organic matter content, relatively low in cation exchange capacity, but with relatively high base-status based on amount of extractable cations. There is no obvious changes in particle size distribution with depth and textural B horizons probably have not been formed by podzolization but formed by mechanical movement of clay. This soil is classified as Typic Hapludalfs in USDA 7th approximation and Brunic Luvisols in FAO classification system.
The surveys of weed species in pastures were conducted in Jeju Island, Pyeongchang Gangwon, and Seosan Chungnam throughout 2013, 2014, and 2015 in order to understand the current status of the weed flora in Korean pastures and to utilize the survey data for basic measure of them. From the surveys, 275 species of 52 families including 83 exotic species were identified and classified into 77 species of annuals, 55 species of biennials and 143 species of perennials. Looking regionally, 207 species of 49 families, 62 species of 14 families, and 136 species of 36 families were occurred in Jeju, Pyeongchang and Seosan, respectively. Based on the importance values, the most dominant species was Rumex obtusifolius followed by Artemisia princeps, Trifolium repens, Digitaria ciliaris, Rumex acetosella etc. in order. The dominance of exotic species was the highest in Rumex obtusifolius followed by Trifolium repens, Rumex acetosella, Erigeron annuus etc. According to the surveys of past and present a pasture weed community has been changed, i.e., Erigeron annuus, Artemisia princeps, and Potentilla fragarioides var. major were dominant in 1990 and Artemisia princeps, Trifolium repens and Rumex acetosella were dominant in 2004. On the other hand, the dominant species at the pastures were changed into Rumex obtusifolius, Artemisia princeps, and Trifolium repens in 2015.
