  • A reluctance motor is a electric machine in which torque is produced by the tendency of its movable part to move to a position where the inductance of the excited winding is maximized. This means physical fact that the energy stored in the field tend to be minimized as the energy stored in the field is converted the mechanical work. In this paper, we have studied the characteristics of the electromagnetic energy conversion about SRM which have 6 stator and 4 rotor poles with 3 phase. In addition we design the fundamental model of SRM with requirements(e.g. power, speed) and simulate with PC-SRD.

  • This paper presents a design and analysis solutions for the general class of iron-cored permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with Halbach (PMLSM). In our design and analysis, rotor consisting of permanent magnets rotor and slot less iron-cored coil stator are treated in a uniform way via vector potential. For one such motor structure, we give analytical formulas for its magnetic field, back electromotive force, inductance of winding coil, and trust force. We also provide performance comparisons of three types according to iron-cored and PM array.

Study on the Reduction Method of Magnetic Noise and Vibration in Home Electric Motors (가전기기용전동기의 전자소음과 진동의 방지대책에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to present a method for reductin of noise and vibration of home electric motors coupled to the mechanical load causing relatively big amplitude of vibration. The noise and vibration factors have been analysed in the divisions such as the pattern related to the armature reaction, the pattern related to the circulating current by induction and the other patterns those are affected by a dditive magnetic field and have an effect on mechanical constants. From the systematic mutual relations between the patterns and daping effects, it is possible to derive the fundamental measure for reduction of noise and vibration. Vibration measurements and analysis were carried out in accordance with the planned experimentation and thre object model was chosen randomly from the production line in a factory where home electric machines were mass-produced. Based on the above-mentioned fundamental measure, suppression effects on noise and vibration have been analysed according to the number of slots, the amount of rotor skew and the way the stator winding connection was series or parallel.

  • In order to transmit energy generated through the stator winding of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), we need to synchronize the generated voltage vector with the grid voltage vector. However, the existing synchronization methods work only when the encoder is installed at a specific position and equivalent constant is precise. In order to solve this problem, a new synchronization method has been proposed and a way of applying the method to existing doubly-fed induction generator control algorithm has been also proposed. The validities of the methods proposed were verified by using a prototype converter for a 1.5MW-class doubly-fed induction generator and experimental results showed the validity of that against variation of an encoder positions, generator parameters, and grid voltages.

  • The aim of this paper is to provide an optimal design of in-wheel motor for an electric scooter (E-scooter) considering economical production. The preliminary development in-wheel motor, which has a direct-driven outer rotor type attached to the E-scooter's rear wheel without any gear, is introduced first. The objective of the optimal design of this in-wheel motor is to improve the output characteristics of the motor and to have a stator form to facilitate automatic winding. Response surface methodology was used for the optimal design and 2-dimensional finite element method was used for electro-magnetic field analysis. Experimental results showed that the designed and fabricated in-wheel motor could satisfy the required specifications in terms of speed, power, efficiency, and cogging torque.

  • The voltage stress on line-end coil of the stator winding in the induction motor fed by a PWM inverter is analyzed, using the computer model based on multi-conductors transmission line. A method to calculate circuit parameters, especially, capacitance between the turns and ground is proposed. The voltage distributions inside coil at motor terminal depending on dv/dt are investigated through simulation studies.

  • This paper propose a method to detect the rotor position of IPMSM(Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor) at standstill without a position sensor. The proposed method is based on current variation caused by the magnetic saturation of stator core as rotor position. By choosing an appropriate voltage vector and applying it to phase winding, it enables the algorithm to discern between a north pole and south pole, and subsequently estimates an absolute position. This method dose not depend on the model of the motor and the motor parameter.

  • Nanostructured materials are attracting increased interest and application. Exciting perspectives may be offered by electrical insulation. Epoxy/Organoclay nanocomposites may find new and upgraded applications in the electrical industry, replacing conventional insulation to provide improved performances in electric power apparatus, e.g, high voltage motor/generator stator winding insulation, dry mold transformer, etc. In the paper work, the electrical and thermal properties of epoxy/organoclay nanocomposites materials were studied. The electrical insulation characteristics were analyzed through the permittivity characteristics. by analyzing the permittivity spectra, it was found that dielectric constant becomes smaller with increase frequency and becomes larger with increase temperature. This indicates restriction of molecular motion and strong bonds at the epoxy/organoclay nanocomposites. The morphology of nanocomposites obtained was examined using TEM and X-ray diffraction. It has been shown that the presence of polar groups leads to an increased gallery distance and partial exfoliation. Nevertheless, full exfoliation of clay platelets has not been achieved.

  • One of the most important technical improvement required for ropeless elevator system to become practical is the improvements in overall system efficiency. Moreover, the predominant drawback of permanent magnet (PM) linear synchronous motor (LSM) is large detent force. Therefore, for the given volume the selection of high power density PM-LSM with low detent force is very imperative. In this paper, we will investigate the characteristics of thrust and detent force of PM-LSM under different motor topology structure. Finally, the long stator double-sided iron core type PM-LSM with fractional slot winding is the best choice for the ropeless elevator system.

  • 고전압회전기 고정자권선 절연물의 일반적인 운전조건에서 나타나는 열화특성은 많은 연구결과를 바탕으로 발전되어 왔다. 특히 고정자권선 절연물이 습한환경에서 운영되었을 경우 일반적인 절연물의 열화특성과는 다른것을 알 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 흡습특성에 대해 실제 산업현장에서 운영중인 고전압전동기 권선 절연물에서 나타나는 절연특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를위해 습한환경에서 운영중인 전동기를 선정하여 절연특성시험을 실시하였고 직류 및 교류시험전압결과에서 절연물의 흡습상태에 따른 고유의 절연특성결과값을 얻을 수 있었다.
