Most of national-wide surveys are summarized by some statistical tables and graphs. In spite of high costs to get statistical results from surveys, we often find some statistical problems in the statistical reports. In this paper, we point out some statistical problems for the Korean Anthropometric Survey report. Also, we suggest some alternatives which may avoid the illustrated problems.

After every decennial census in the U.S., national surveys such as the Consumer Expenditures surveys are redesigned. The redesigned samples will be multi-stage systematic samples. Many sampling schemes have been proposed for comparison which requires the estimation and variance estiamtion formula. This paper deals with the surveys redesign research which concerns the sample design within the Primary Sampling Unit (PSU). In constructing the estimators it deals with the problem of which first stage inflation factor to use. The expected value of the proposed estimators is also derived.

지식 정보화 사회에서 필요한 통계는 "기술통계+추론통계+실용통계"의 특성을 갖추어야 하며 적시성, 정확성과 경제성을 갖는 통계를 생산하기 위해서 자료 수집과 분석 과정에서 컴퓨터를 이용해 왔으나, 앞으로 인터넷이 보편화된 사이버 공간 사회에서 활용될 수 있는 실용통계 생산에 역점을 둔 통계 발전 방안을 살펴보았다. 먼저 컴퓨터 보급과 이용 현황을 살펴보고 컴퓨터 이용 조사 기법의 발달 과정을 요약하였으며, 적용 사례 중심으로 인터넷 조사의 발전 가능성에 대해서 언급한 후에, 모든 분야에서 어떤 종류의 통계도 효과적으로 생산할 수 있는 컴퓨터 이용 통계 조사 종합 시스템을 제안하였다.스템을 제안하였다.

Under repeated surveys, missing values often appear for various reasons and are replaced by new samples. It is investigated that the existing estimator in repeated survey by Jessen (1942), which has been originally developed for the new samples of fixed size, can be used in such situation where the size of new samples is random. It is shown that the proposed estimator has smaller variance than the sample mean.

This article explores the analysis of longitudinal surveys in which same units are investigated on several occasions. Multivariate exponential ratio type estimator has been proposed for the estimation of the finite population median at the current occasion in two occasion longitudinal surveys. Information on several additional auxiliary variables, which are stable over time and readily available on both the occasions, has been utilized. Properties of the proposed multivariate estimator, including the optimum replacement strategy, are presented. The proposed multivariate estimator is compared with the sample median estimator when there is no matching from a previous occasion and with the exponential ratio type estimator in successive sampling when information is available on only one additional auxiliary variable. The merits of the proposed estimator are justified by empirical interpretations and validated by a simulation study with the help of some natural populations.

통계청에서 매월 실시하는 주요 가구부문 경상조사에는 경제활동인구조사와 가계조사가 있다. 이 두 조사의 표본은 인구주택총조사 자료를 표본틀로하여 5년마다 개편되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 2000년 인구주택총조사를 바탕으로 2002년에 실행한 표본개편에 관한 내용이다.

In this paper, we considered three methods for outlier identification sample surveys. First, we studied method of handling and adjusting outliers in normal population. Second, we studied existing methods using mean, maximum and minimum and proposed a test using of median which well reflects characteristic of data regardless of sampling distribution. Finally, we showed our test using median works better than Dixon and mean test through simulation.

The paper shows that certain hierachical Bayes (HB) predictors for small domain data in repeated surveys "universally" or "stochastically" dominate all linear unbiased predictors. Also, the HB predictors are "best" within the class of all equivariant predictors under a certain group of transformations.tain group of transformations.

In multivariate stratified sampling surveys it is general to use a few stratification variables which are highly correlated with the important variables at design stage. But there might be some secondary study variables which are not so highly correlated with those stratification variables. In that case it is not efficient to use the same type of estimator due to the secondary variables as the one base on the important variables. A post-stratified estimation is proposed to increase the efficiency of the estimator with existence of secondary variables. The proposed method is illustrated with a set of fishery household population survey data.
