The Statistic-based method is widely used for automatic single document summarization in large sets of documents such as those on the web. However, the results of this method shows high redundancies in the summarized sentences because this method selects sentences including words that frequently appear in the document. We solve this problem using the method MMR to raise the quality of document summary (The best results are appeared around λ=0.6). Also, we compare the MMR summaries with those done by human subjects and verify their accuracy.

When we observe binary responses in a cluster (such as rat lab-subjects), they are usually correlated to each other. In clustered binomial counts, the independence assumption is violated and we encounter an extra-variation. In the presence of extra-variation, the ordinary statistical analyses of binomial data are inappropriate to apply. In testing the homogeneity of proportions between several treatment groups, the classical Pearson chi-squared test has a severe flaw in the control of Type I error rates. We focus on modifying the chi-squared statistic by incorporating variance inflation factors. We suggest a method to adjust data in terms of dispersion estimate based on a quasi-likelihood model. We explain the testing procedure via an illustrative example as well as compare the performance of a modified chi-squared test with competitive statistics through a Monte Carlo study.
In this paper, a non-classical autocorrelation detector adopting a newly defined test statistic is introduced to solve the typical problem of detecting a narrowband signal transmitted over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Error probability analyses are performed for a noncoherent frequency-shift-keying (FSK) system employing the proposed test-statistic. Through the histogram approach, the probability density functions of the test-statistics are plotted to explain the analysis model. All numerical results obtained indicate the limited improvement in error performance under the lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the use of higher number of samples per bit will finally provide the almost same confident potential of improvement in error rate as the system using matched filters (MFs) gives.
In hypothesis testing, the interpretation of a statistic obtained from the data analysis relies on a probabilistic distribution of the statistic constructed according to several statistical theories. For instance, the statistical significance of a mean difference between experimental conditions is determined according to a probabilistic distribution of the mean differences (e.g., Student's t) constructed under several theoretical assumptions for population characteristics. The present study explored the logic and advantages of random-resampling approach for analyzing event-related potentials (ERPs) where a hypothesis is tested according to the distribution of empirical statistics that is constructed based on randomly resampled dataset of real measures rather than a theoretical distribution of the statistics. To motivate ERP researchers' understanding of the random-resampling approach, the present study further introduced a specific example of data analyses where a random-permutation procedure was applied according to the random-resampling principle, as well as discussing several cautions ahead of its practical application to ERP data analyses.
The purpose of this study are to find out the gender and school level differences in adolescents' depression, and the influences of parent attachment and school stress on adolescents' depression and the effect of ego-resilience relations between parent attachment and depression, and that of school stress and depression. 402 of students(the first and the second graders of middle school and of high school in academic track in D area) completed questionnaire on parent attachment, school stress, ego-resilience, and depression. Descriptive statistic analyses, reliability analyses, Two-way ANOVAs, correlation analyses, and hierarchial multiple regression analyses were conducted through SPSS WIN 20.0. The findings are as follows. 1) There was school level difference, but not gender differences, on adolescents'depression. 2) There was ego-resilience control effect on the relations between parent attachment and adolescents' depression only for middle school students, but not for high school students. 3) There were ego-resilience control effect on the relations between school stress and adolescents' depression for both middle and high school students. The importance of ego-resilience and school levels in understanding adolescents' depression was discussed.

The major purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the extracurricular lesson expenses on the Burden of Household Expenditure. The data are collected from 537 housewives with a child aged 18(2nd grade in high school) in Seoul. The statistics used for the data analysis are frequency, percentage, crosstables, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression. The statistic softwear used for this study is SPSS. The Result on a base of empirical analyses follow: 1. Respondentg’s expenditure on extracurricular lesson fees is about 430,000 won per month, which is about 28% of the living cost. 2. There are four types of the methods preparing extracurricular lesson fees: ‘Frugal Type’, ‘Excess Type’, ‘Composit Type’, ‘Self-supportable Type’. 3. Region, the living cost, sex of children, net worth, and the mother’s education show statistically significant effect on the extracutticular lesson expenses. 4. The regression analyses incicate that Burden of Household Expenditure increased by 1.9 point according to 1% increase in expenditure on extracurridular lesson fees. The higher budget share of expenditure on extracurricular fees, the higher level of Burden of Household Expenditure.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the risk factors for diabetic foot ulceration (DFU) to develop and evaluate the performance of a DFU prediction model and nomogram among people with diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods: This unmatched case-control study was conducted with 379 adult patients (118 patients with DM and 261 controls) from four general hospitals in South Korea. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, foot examination, and review of patients' electronic health records. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to build the DFU prediction model and nomogram. Further, their performance was analyzed using the Lemeshow-Hosmer test, concordance statistic (C-statistic), and sensitivity/specificity analyses in training and test samples. Results: The prediction model was based on risk factors including previous foot ulcer or amputation, peripheral vascular disease, peripheral neuropathy, current smoking, and chronic kidney disease. The calibration of the DFU nomogram was appropriate (χ2 = 5.85, p = .321). The C-statistic of the DFU nomogram was .95 (95% confidence interval .93~.97) for both the training and test samples. For clinical usefulness, the sensitivity and specificity obtained were 88.5% and 85.7%, respectively at 110 points in the training sample. The performance of the nomogram was better in male patients or those having DM for more than 10 years. Conclusion: The nomogram of the DFU prediction model shows good performance, and is thereby recommended for monitoring the risk of DFU and preventing the occurrence of DFU in people with DM.

Recently, a lot of studies that applying the big data technology to various fields, are progressing actively. In the maritime domain, the big data is the meaningful information which makes and gathers by the navigation and communication equipment from the many ships on the ocean. Also, importance of the maritime safety is emphasized, because maritime accidents are rising with increasing of maritime traffic. To support prevention of maritime accidents, in this paper, we developed a vessel traffic display and statistic system based on AIS messages from the many vessels of maritime. Also, to verify the developed system, we conducted tests for vessel track display function and vessel traffic statistic function based on two test scenarios. Therefore, we verified the effectiveness of the developed system for vessel tracks display, abnormal navigation patterns, checking failure of AIS equipments and maritime traffic statistic analyses.

The purpose of this study is to find directions for the improvement of amenities for Jinan according to Eup and Myun through an analysis of survey data on rural amenity resources. This survey was performed over a period of 4 years(from 2005 to 2008). The data were collected by field survey, interview, and internet site. Analyses of descriptive statistics, regression and correlation were performed to identify the characteristics of each Eup/Myun in Jinan County and the relationship between each resource. Rank analysis was performed to classify the type of each region. Through this, directions for the improvement of amenities in Jinan according to Eup and Myun are presented.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of maternal smoking during pregnancy (MSDP) on the risk of bone fractures in the offspring through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were systematically searched for relevant articles published through July 2019. According to heterogeneity, the pooled risk ratio (RR) and odds ratio (OR) and their corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) were obtained using fixed or random effects models. The heterogeneity and quality of the included studies were assessed by the I-squared (I2) statistic and the Newcastle-Ottawa scale, respectively. Sensitivity analyses were performed to test the effect of MSDP misclassification on the results. The review of 842 search records yielded 5 studies including 8,746 mother-child pairs that were included in the meta-analysis. Pooling adjusted effect measures showed that MSDP was not associated with a later risk of bone fractures in the offspring (pooled RR, 1.15; 95% CI, 0.84-1.58; I2=66.8%; P=0.049). After the adjustment for misclassification, MSDP may be associated with a 27% increased risk of bone fracture (pooled OR, 1.27; 95% CI, 1.00-1.62; I2=0%; P=0.537). After the adjustment for misclassification, MSDP is associated with an increased risk of bone fractures among children whose mothers smoked during pregnancy.
