소형항공기용 왕복엔진의 성능에 관한 흡/배기 영향 (Effects of Breath and Exhaust on the Performance of a Reciprocating Engine for Small Aircraft)

  • The engine performance test was carried out to investigate the effects of breath and exhaust on the performance of a reciprocating engine for small aircraft. In this test, three valves to control flow areas of a inlet and two outlets were used, the engine manifold pressure and the static thrust of propeller were measured in nine breath/exhaust conditions. Generally, small variations on the performance were showed as the test conditions were changed. The manifold pressure was increased as flow area of the inlet or the outlet was decreased in normal condition, however it was decreased as both flow areas were decreased. The static thrust of propeller was showed similar as the manifold pressure.

  • This paper describes static characteristics analysis of linear pulse motor(LPM) with two permanent magnets. Linear pulse motors are finding a wide range of application for the Factory-Automation or the Office-Automation. Typically, LPM provides for a reliable and precise control of position, velocity, or acceleration without using a closed-loop system. Some of the advantages of LPMs are ease of control, step multiplication, static and dynamic positioning, and locking force. The flux density and thrust of LPM is computed by the FEM and magnetic equivalent circuits which considered the magnetic nonlinear phenomena. The result of characteristics analysis are shown as the flux, the air gap reluctance and the thrust. The velocity and position characteristics as a function of unit step input is measured. To estimate the unit step response charecteristic of LPM, the simulation results by Matlab and the experimental results is compared.

  • The effect of the coil flux, so called "push/pull effect", is to shift the airgap flux density variation due to the magnet alone by a certain amount. Thrust therefore is shift downward or upward. The push/pull effect was presented through the FEM analysis and static tests. We compared with the thrust obtained through the FEM analysis and static tests.

  • LOA is the linear electromechanical device that mover is similar to secondary conductor of LIM. The mover reciprocates along stroke by supplying the alternating current to primary coil. LOA is the simpler and more efficient than other linear apparatus using the rotary motor because LOA produce the thrust force without any mechanical converter such as cam, clutch, belt, rack and pinion, etc. This paper deals with the static characteristics of moving coil type LOA by virtual work method, FEM analysis and experiment Results show that thrust force increases when mover travels form center to both ends.

  • This research numerically analyzes the dynamic characteristics of a coupled journal and thrust hydrodynamic bearing due to its groove location which has the static load due to the weight of a rotor in the axial direction and the dynamic load due to its mass unbalance in the radial direction. The Reynolds equation is transformed to solve a plain member rotating type of journal bearing(PMRJ), a grooved member rotating type of journal bearing (GMRJ), a plain member rotating type of thrust bearing (PMRT) and a grooved member rotating type of thrust bearing (GMRT). FEM is used to solve the Reynolds equations in order to calculate the pressure distribution in a fluid film. Reaction forces and friction torque are obtained by integrating the pressure and shear stress along the fluid film, respectively. Dynamic behaviors, such as whirl radius or floating height of a rotor, are determined by solving its nonlinear equations of motion with the Runge-Kutta method. This research shows that the groove location affects the pressure distribution in the fluid film and consequently the dynamic performance of a HDD spindle system.

  • This paper presents results of FEA and tests on the characteristics of moving coil type LOA due to the static field excitation method. In case the static field is generated by NdFeB permanent magnet, the static thrust is almost 6 times than that by electromagnet. Therefore under the same power, the volume becomes small according to using permanent magnet for the generation of static field.

  • A transverse flux, PM-exited linear motor (TFM-LM) with inner mover was designed and built. Its output power density is higher and its weight is lower than those of the conventional PM exited linear synchronous motors (PM LSM). To obtain the maximum thrust force under the given volume, the thrust force density with respect to the ratio of the slot width and the length of pole pitch is analyzed by the 3-dimension finite element method (FEM). Finally, calculated static thrust forces was compared with the experimental values. The calculated and measured performance of the transverse flux, PM-exited linear motor with inner mover revealed great potential for system improvements by reducing the mass of the linear motor. For examples, when this motor was applied to a ropeless elevator, it was possible to increase the power density by more than 400% over the conventional PM-LSM. The results of this study recommend this type of motor for the ropeless elevator or gearless direct linear driving system.

이중 추력형 로켓모타의 성능예측 기법 연구 (A study on the performance prediction technique of the dual-thrust rocket motor)

  • 본 논문은 Finocyl형 그레인의 이중추력형 로켓모타에 대한 성능예측기법을 개발하여 이를 실제 연소 시험 데이터와 비교, 분석하였다. 성능예측은 I-DEAS를 이용한 면적분석과 보정계수를 이용한 성능계산으로 나누어 수행되었다. 비교분석 결과 연소 중 압력이 지속적으로 변화하는 이중추력형 모타의 경우는 단순추력형과는 달리 부스팅과 서스테이닝 단계에서 각각 다른 보정개수를 적용하여 성능을 예측해야하며 이를 이용하여 재예측한 결과 0.5% 오차 안에서 일치함을 확인하였다.

An analytical expression for the dynamic active thrust from c-φ soil backfill on retaining walls with wall friction and adhesion

  • This paper presents the derivation of an analytical expression for the dynamic active thrust from c-${\phi}$ (c = cohesion, ${\phi}$ = angle of shearing resistance) soil backfill on rigid retaining walls with wall friction and adhesion. The derivation uses the pseudo-static approach considering tension cracks in the backfill, a uniform surcharge on the backfill, and horizontal and vertical seismic loadings. The development of an explicit analytical expression for the critical inclination of the failure plane within the soil backfill is described. It is shown that the analytical expression gives the same results for simpler special cases previously reported in the literature.

  • This paper deals with the difference of the static and kinetic thrust characteristics of a linear pulse motor(LPM) without and with feedback control for a total artificial heart(TAH). In general, the kinetic thrust of LPM without feedback control decreases as increasing the mover velocity. The kinetic thrust characteristics of the LPM with feedback control are improved approximately 30% as compared with the LPM without feedback control in the high velocity range.
