  • In this paper, to design Human Powered Aircraft(HPAC) with high aspect ratio wing which behave with large displacement under lift distribution causing a failure itself, then steel wire has been designed to prevent its failure. unit load method is used to calculate reaction force on wire and Optimal Triangle(OPT) membrane is employed to analyze its main wing spar with large displacement. EDISON CSD solver, linear static analysis and co-rotational nonlinear static anaysis both using OPT membrane produce behaviors of beam for each case of wire location about main wing spar, and aerodynamic coefficient also, by using aerodynamic analysis tool.

충돌성능을 고려한 승용차 범퍼빔 단면의 최적화 (Optimization of Bumper Beam Section of Crashworthiness)

  • Optimum design of bumper beam is investigated using nonlinear CAE structural analysis techniques.In order to minimize its weight, while enhancing structural performances, bumper beam structural analyses were carried out to produce optimum section. Model is composed of bumper beam and stay. First, considering FMVSS safety standard, static strength and energy absorbing capability were estimated for several competitive bumpers through pendulum static analysis, and most promising section was chosen. Next, to ensure dynamic crashworthinesss performance for center pole impact was evaluated for the bumper beam with chosen section through pendulum static analysis, referring to DHS bumper dynamic impact standard. Finally, 2.5 mph bumper beam was designed and its structural performance was estimated. Through this investigation, an optimized bumper beam section with less weight of 20% while maintaining almost equal carshworthiness, compared with a conventional bumper beam section which proved its impact crashworthiness by experiments, was developed.

위상 최적화 기법을 이용한 충격하중에 대한 차량 탑재형 전력변환장치의 마운트 경량화 설계 (Using Topology Optimization, Light Weight Design of Vehicle Mounted Voltage Converter for Impact Loading)

  • 본 연구는 전기자동차 충전시스템에서 전력변환장치의 경량화를 위한 최적화 분석프로세스에 대한 내용을 서술하였다. 최적화 설계는 재료 물성치에 대한 설계민감도와 수학적 최적화를 결합하여 주어진 재료량 제한조건 하에 최적의 재료분포를 찾는 설계기법으로 위상의 고정화, 자유도가 묶이는 문제 등을 해결할 수 있는 위상 최적화방법을 사용하였으며, 위상 최적화 방법 중 비교적 수식화가 간단하고 수렴성이 좋은 SIMP법(solid isotropic material with penalization)에 의해 경량화 설계를 수행하였다. 경량화 설계는 3단계의 절차로 구성하였으며, 첫 번째 단계로 전력변환장치의 기본 설계에 대한 유한요소모델을 구성하고, 하중에 대한 정적해석을 수행하였다. 두 번째 단계로 정적해석 결과에 대해 등방성 재료의 강성계수를 적용한 밀도법을 이용하여 위상 최적화를 수행하여 경량화를 위한 최적 형상을 도출하였다. 세 번째 단계로 최적 형상에 대해 차량 탑재 부품의 충격시험기준에 만족하는 반정현파 펄스형태 충격하중을 인가하여 충격해석을 수행하였다. 위상 최적화단계에서 사용 환경조건으로 설계영역 정의는 마운팅 브래킷 영역으로 제한하였으며, 마운팅 브래킷의 설계 최적화를 통해 최종적으로 기본설계대비 20%이상의 경량화가 가능한 설계기술을 확보하였다.

Optimal Particle Swarm Based Placement and Sizing of Static Synchronous Series Compensator to Maximize Social Welfare

  • Social welfare maximization in a double-sided auction market is performed by implementing an aggregation-based particle swarm optimization (CAPSO) algorithm for optimal placement and sizing of one Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) device. Dallied simulation results (without/with line flow constraints and without/with SSSC) are generated to demonstrate the impact of SSSC on the congestion levels of the modified IEEE 14-bus test system. The proposed CAPSO algorithm employs conventional quadratic smooth and augmented quadratic nonsmooth generator cost curves with sine components to improve the accurate of the model by incorporating the valve loading effects. CAPSO also employs quadratic smooth consumer benefit functions. The proposed approach relies on particle swarm optimization to capture the near-optimal GenCos and DisCos, as well as the location and rating of SSSC while the Newton based load flow solution minimizes the mismatch equations. Simulation results of the proposed CAPSO algorithm are compared to solutions obtained by sequential quadratic programming (SQP) and a recently implemented Fuzzy based genetic algorithm (Fuzzy-GA). The main contributions are inclusion of customer benefit in the congestion management objective function, consideration of nonsmooth generator characteristics and the utilization of a coordinated aggregation-based PSO for locating/sizing of SSSC.

Dynamic Island Partition for Distribution System with Renewable Energy to Decrease Customer Interruption Cost

  • When a failure occurs in active distribution system, it will be isolated through the action of circuit breakers and sectionalizing switches. As a result, the network might be divided into several connected components, in which distributed generations could supply power for customers. Aimed at decreasing customer interruption cost, this paper proposes a theoretically optimal island partition model for such connected components, and a simplified but more practical model is also derived. The model aims to calculate a dynamic island partition schedule during the failure recovery time period, instead of a static islanding status. Fluctuation and stochastic characteristics of the renewable distributed generations and loads are considered, and the interruption cost functions of the loads are fitted. To solve the optimization model, a heuristic search algorithm based on the hill climbing method is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm is evaluated by comparing with an existing static island partitioning model and intelligent algorithms, respectively.

Maximization of Transmission System Loadability with Optimal FACTS Installation Strategy

  • Instead of building new substations or transmission lines, proper installation of flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) devices can make the transmission networks accommodate more power transfers with less expansion cost. In this paper, the problem to maximize power system loadability by optimally installing two types of FACTS devices, namely static var compensator (SVC) and thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC), is formulated as a mixed discrete-continuous nonlinear optimization problem (MDCP). To reduce the complexity of the problem, the locations suitable for SVC and TCSC installations are first investigated with tangent vector technique and real power flow performance index (PI) sensitivity factor and, with the specified locations for SVC and TCSC installations, a set of schemes is formed. For each scheme with the specific locations for SVC and TCSC installations, the MDCP is reduced to a continuous nonlinear optimization problem and the computing efficiency can be largely improved. Finally, to cope with the technical and economic concerns simultaneously, the scheme with the biggest utilization index value is recommended. The IEEE-14 bus system and a practical power system are used to validate the proposed method.

Structural design optimization of racing motor boat based on nonlinear finite element analysis

  • Since 1980's, optimum design techniques for ship structural design have been developed to the preliminary design which aims at minimum weight or minimum cost design of mid-ship section based on analytic structural analysis. But the optimum structural design researches about the application for the detail design of local structure based on FEA have been still insufficient. This paper presents optimization technique for the detail design of a racing motor boat. To improve the performance and reduce the damage of a real existing racing boat, direct structural analyses; static and non-linear transient dynamic analyses, were carried out to check the constraints of minimum weight design. As a result, it is shown that the optimum structural design of a racing boat has to be focused on reducing impulse response from pitching motion than static response because the dynamic effect is more dominant. Optimum design algorithm based on nonlinear finite element analysis for a racing motor boat was developed and coded to ANSYS, and its applicability for actual structural design was verifed.

Performance Comparison between LLVM and GCC Compilers for the AE32000 Embedded Processor

  • The embedded processor market has grown rapidly and consistently with the appearance of mobile devices. In an embedded system, the power consumption and execution time are important factors affecting the performance. The system performance is determined by both hardware and software. Although the hardware architecture is high-end, the software runs slowly due to the low quality of codes. This study compared the performance of two major compilers, LLVM and GCC on a32-bit EISC embedded processor. The dynamic instructions and static code sizes were evaluated from these compilers with the EEMBC benchmarks.LLVM generally performed better in the ALU intensive benchmarks, whereas GCC produced a better register allocation and jump optimization. The dynamic instruction count and static code of GCCwere on average 8% and 7% lower than those of LLVM, respectively.

  • A new blade has been developed to apply to Doosan 3MW offshore wind turbine named as WinDS3000TM. The 3MW blade has been designed by the concept of slim external shape and optimized structure. High-performance glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites were used as the main material of the blade. The blade was manufactured using vacuum infusion process in order to increase the fiber volume fraction and to reduce micro-porosities. The blade has successfully passed the full-scale blade static test for certification. During the test, micro-failure signal and strain change of the blade were measured using acoustic emission sensors and strain gages. The blade has robust structure and weighs lighter compared to conventional blade since the new blade was designed by optimization process. The 3MW blade will be commercially applied to WinDS$3000^{TM}$ in 2010.

  • 수정 시뮬레이티드어닐링은 Simulated Annealing(SA)가 확률 탐색 방법을 사용하기 때문에 수렴시간이 오래 걸리는 단점를 개선한 방법이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 RSA와 SA을 트러스구조물과 인공위성구조물의 최적화에 적용하여 서로 비교하여 보았다. 최적화 예제로 10부재 트러스, 실제 응용예제로 인공위성구조물은 위성 상단 플랫폼과 추진모듈의 최적화를 수행하였다. 인공위성구조물의 최적화에서 응력과 고유진동수, 전단응력 등을 제한조건으로 고려하여 최적화를 수행하였다. 인공위성구조물의 최적화를 수행한 결과 RSA을 이용하여 다양한 인공위성 구조물의 최적화에 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 인공위성 구조물의 최적화에서 RSA가 SA보다 수렴속도가 향상되었음을 확인하였다.
