Analysis of Aerodynamic Performance in an Annular Compressor Bowed Cascade with Large Camber Angles

  • The effects of positively bowed blade on the aerodynamic performance of annular compressor cascades with large camber angle were experimentally investigated under different incidences. The distributions of the exit total pressure loss and secondary flow vectors of compressor cascades were analyzed. The static pressure was measured by tapping on the cascade surfaces, and the ink-trace flow visualizations were conducted. The results show that the value of the optimum bowed angle and optimum bowed height decrease because of the increased losses at the mid-span with the increase of the caber angle. The C-shape static pressure distribution along the radial direction exists on the suction surface of the straight cascade with large r camber angles. When bowed blade is applied, the larger bowed angle and larger bowed height will further enhance the accumulation of the low-energy fluid at the mid-span, thus deteriorate the flow behavior. Under $60^{\circ}$ camber angle, flow behavior near the end-wall region of some bowed cascades even deteriorates instead of improving because the blockage of the separated flow near the mid-span keeps the low-energy fluid near the end-walls from moving towards the mid-span region, and as a result, a rapid augmentation of the total loss is easy to take place under large bowed angle. With the increase of camber angle, the choice range of bowed angle corresponding to the best performance in different incidences become narrower.

  • 본 연구에서는 모델 스크램제트 엔진의 특성을 자세히 고찰하기 위해 수치해석을 수행하여 실험결과와 비교분석하였다. 수치해석을 통해 예측한 압력분포도는 충격파 터널을 이용한 지상시험과 잘 일치하는 결과를 보였다. 또한 연소기 내부의 정온도 및 정압력분포에 대한 분석에서 공동보염기는 국소적인 고온영역을 발생시키며, W자형 카울은 유동의 가로방향에 대해 압력불균형을 유발시킨다는 특성을 확인하였다. 이러한 특성은 연소기 내부의 초음속 연소를 증진시키는 효과로 이어졌다.

  • This paper studies the effect of pad at initial stage and wear during braking on the dynamic contact pressure distribution. Wear is influenced by variable factor (contact pressure, sliding speed, radius, temperature) during dynamic braking and variation in contact pressure distribution. Many researchers have conducted complex eigenvalue analysis considering wear characteristic with Lim and Ashby wear map. The conventional analysis method is assumed the pad has smooth and flat surfaces. The purpose of this paper is to validate that wear rate induced by braking is considered for the precise squeal prediction. After obtaining pad wear from experiment, it is incorporated with FE model of brake system. Finally, the comparisons in fugitive nature of squeal will be carried out between the complex eigenvalue analysis and noise dynamometer experiment.

A comprehensive high Reynolds number effects simulation method for wind pressures on cooling tower models

  • The traditional method for the simulation of high Reynolds number (Re) effects on wind loads on cooling tower models in wind tunnels focuses only on the mean wind pressure distribution. Based on observed effects of some key factors on static/dynamic flow characteristics around cooling towers, the study reported in this paper describes a comprehensive simulation method using both mean and fluctuating wind pressure distributions at high Re as simulation targets, which is indispensable for obtaining the complete full-scale wind effects in wind tunnels. After being presented in this paper using a case study, the proposed method is examined by comparing the full covariance matrices and the cross-spectral densities of the simulated cases with those of the full-scale case. Besides, the cooling tower's dynamic structural responses obtained using the simulated wind pressure fields are compared with those obtained by using the full-scale one. Through these works, the applicability and superiority of the proposed method is validated.

Non-uniform virtual material modeling on contact interface of assembly structure with bolted joints

  • Accurate modeling of contact interface in bolted joints is crucial in predicting the dynamic behavior for bolted assemblies under external load. This paper presents a contact pressure distribution based non-uniform virtual material method to describe the joint interface of assembly structure, which is connected by sparsely distributed multi-bolts. Firstly, the contact pressure distribution of bolted joints is obtained by the nonlinear static analysis in the finite element software ANSYS. The contact surface around bolt hole is divided into several sub-layers, and contact pressure in each sub-layer is thought to be evenly. Then, considering multi-asperity contact at the micro perspective, the relationship between contact pressure and interfacial virtual material parameters for each sub-layer is established by using the fractal contact theory. Finally, an experimental platform for the dynamic characteristics testing of a beam lap structure with double-bolted joint is constructed to validate the efficiency of proposed method. It is found that the theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental results by impact response in both time- and frequency-domain, and the relative errors of the first four natural frequencies are less than 1%. Furthermore, the presented model is used to examine the effect of rough contact surface on dynamic characteristics of bolted joint.

원심압축기의 선회실속 분석 (The analysis on centrifugal compressor rotating stall)

  • In the present study, the performance characteristics and the number of stall cells during rotating stall of a centrifugal air compressor were experimentally investigated. If the flow coefficient is lower than 0.150, the static pressure at impeller inlet is higher than that at inlet duct And reverse flow is observed under these flow coefficient region. Maximum adiabatic efficiency is obtained for the tested compressor around flow coefficient 0.128, and it is independent of compressor rotating speed. The number of stall cells and their rotational speeds are distinctive features of the rotating stall phenomenon. The present study is mainly concerned with the number of stall cells and their rotational speeds. The interpretation method of visualization is based on the pressure distribution in the circumference pressure fields while plotting the pressure and its harmonics variations in time in polar coordinates.

  • 건조 후 수행하는 수압시험 또는 화물의 적재 등과 같은 정하중은 파랑변동하중에 비하여 선체구조물에 상당히 큰 응력을 유발한다. 이러한 정하중이력에 의하여, 선체구조물의 응력집중으로 인해 피로강도가 문제되는 용접이음부에서는, 재료의 탄소성 거동에 의하여 초기용접잔류응력이 상당히 이완될 것으로 예상된다. 따라서, 이러한 용접이음부의 피로강도를 평가할 때에는 이완된 잔류응력의 영향을 고려하는 것이 보다 합리적이다. 본 연구에서는 선체구조물의 여러 가지 용접형태 중 Padding plate가 용접된 형태에 대하여 정하중이력($0.5{\sigma}Y,\;0.85{\sigma}Y$)에 의한 초기 용접잔류응력의 변화를 측정하며, 잔류응력의 변화가 피로강도에 미치는 영향을 검토한다.

풍압 형성에 따른 옥상광고판 크기별 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Deformation Characteristics of the Roof Signboard Size in Wind Pressure Formation)

  • 본 연구는 건축물 옥상에 설치되는 옥외광고탑의 강풍피해 경감을 위하여, 중저층의 건축물 옥상에 설치되는 광고판에 작용하는 최대풍압력 분포에 따른 광고판의 변형을 CFD 수치해석을 통하여 고찰한 연구이다. 수치해석을 위하여 $(b)20m{\times}(d)10m{\times}(h)30m$의 건물에 광고판이 설치되는 것을 가정하여 기본모델과 광고판의 크기를 변경한 3개의 모델을 사용하여 최대 풍압 형성에 대한 변형을 고찰하였다. 수치해석 결과, 광고판의 모양이 장방형에 가까울수록 수평적인 변형이 지배적으로 발생하며 양단부의 모서리 부분에서 높은 풍압력과 변형이 발생한다. 그리고 광고판의 높이가 클수록 수직적인 변형이 지배적으로 발생하고, 배면에 정압이 형성되는 특징이 있다. 광고판의 폭보다 높이가 낮아지는 경우, 최대 풍압은 중앙부 상부 집중적으로 발생한다. 따라서, 높이와 너비의 비가 1에 가까울수록 최대 풍압의 분포가 안정적이고 풍압에 의한 영향이 비교적 낮다는 결과를 확인할 수 있었다. 이 결과를 토대로 바람의 영향을 막는 구조적인 보강과 높이와 너비의 비가 1에 가까운 여러 개의 광고판으로 전체 광고판을 구성하는 등의 풍압력 발생에 대해 유연한 대응이 필요하다.

보일러 급수 펌프용 미케니컬 페이스 실의 정특성 해석 (Static Characteristic Analysis of Mechanical Face Seal Used for Boiler Feedwater Pump)

  • Mechanical face seal installed in boiler feedwater pump prevents leakage of working fluid using thin fluid film between stator and rotor. If the leakage of working fluid exceeds the allowable volume, serious malfunction of boiler feedwater pump will be happen. The thinner fluid film exists between stator and rotor, the less working fluid leaks out. However, if the thickness of fluid film is not enough, the wear of seal face will be increased. And it causes the decrease in life of mechanical face seal. Therefore appropriate design is necessary to maximize the performance and life of mechanical face seal. In this study, numerical analysis using finite volume method was conducted to investigate the static characteristics of wavy mechanical face seals which have 4 different wavy surface profiles on rotor. As a result, opening force, leakage volume of working fluid and friction torque were obtained. For the same minimum film thickness, the static characteristics of mechanical face seal were affected by the wavy surface profile which can change the thickness of working fluid film and pressure distribution.

삼차원(三次元) 수분류(水噴流)의 충돌(衝突) 압력(壓力) 분포(分布) 특성(特性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Characteristic of Impinging Pressure Distribution in the Three Dimensional Impinging Water Jet)

  • 축류비가 5이고 형상비가 7인 장방형(長方形) 노즐을 사용하여 연직 상향의 3차원 자유 충돌 수분류계를 구성하였다. 수평 충돌판에 상향의 장방형 충돌수분류가 충돌할 때, 보조수를 동반하지 않은 단일수분류 및 보조수를 동반하는 수분류에 대하여 노즐-충돌판 사이의 거리, 노즐출구 속도를 변수로하여 노즐의 긴변 방향과 짧은 변 방향에 대하여 전압 및 정압 분포를 측정하였다. 이때 충돌판상에서 정압이 영이 되는 국소 위치까지의 거리인 충돌 반폭을 구하고, 최고 압력을 나타내는 정체점을 기준으로 무차원 정압 분포식을 제시하였다. 또한 각 실험조건에서 정체점상에서의 충돌속도를 구하였으며, 충돌속도는 노즐-전열면간 거리가 증가함에 따라 감소하며 그 감쇄율은 삼차원 자유 분류의 특성감쇄 영역의 유동 특성을 갖는다.
