The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the types of exercise on the health-related fitness among the elderly women, and to provide the information for managing and preventing the chronic disease. 40 elderly women who living in the B metropolitan city participated in the study and randomly divided four groups(control, aerobic exercise, resistance exercise, and combined exercise). The exercise groups performed 50 min, 3 times/week for 8 weeks at RPE 11-13. Low body strength, dynamic balance, static balance, and agility were significantly improved in all exercise groups after the intervention. Cardiovascular endurance was improved in aerobic and combined exercise groups. Consequently, any types of exercise could be improved the daily living fitness for elderly women if exercise intensity were the same. In addition, the combined exercise may be more suitable type of exercise for elderly.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of line dance activity on the balance factors during static standing to reveal the exercise intervention for fall prevention. A 15-week line dance programme was applied to 16 elderly females who aged more than 65 years in the community. Balance ability during static standing was evaluated by the range of center of pressure(cop), the velocity of cop, and sway area that calculated on the basis of ground reaction force data, forces, and moments. The range and velocity of cop in the anterio-posterior were significantly reduced after line dance(p<.01, p<.05, respectively), but change in those of cop in the medio-lateral was not found. It was demonstrated that 16-week line dance activities allow more effective in anterio-posterior stability and sway area of static standing. It was suggested that the effect of fall prevention exercise should be studied more associate with fall from vestibular and sensory system as future study.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the aquatic exercise program on lower muscle strength, balance and gait activity on 12 weeks aquatic exercise program in the elderly women. Methods : The Subjects in this study were 20 aged 70s who were long-term residents admitted to elderly nursing home of S, Gyeongsangnam province. Purpose : This study examines the effect of trunk stabilization program on the body balance, lung capacity, and muscular activity of the rectus abdominis and external oblique of healthy adults. Method : A survey was conducted for 20 students of K University located in the city of Y in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province of Korea. The trunk stabilization program consisted of a hollowing exercise, curl-up, bridging exercise, and birddog exercise. This was performed 14 times in total (7 times a week for two weeks). For analysis, good balance was used to measure both static and dynamic balancing ability. A peak flow meter was used to measure the maximum expiratory flow, and MP150 was used to measure muscular activity of the rectus abdominis and external oblique. Result : After the trunk stabilization program, the participants showed a difference in score and time taken to achieve static and dynamic balance, and muscular activity of the rectus abdominis and external oblique at a statistically significant level (p<0.05). However, no significant difference was observed in the left-to-right distance and front-to-back distance in a dynamic balance, and the lung capacity (p>0.05). Conclusion : The results showed that the trunk stabilization program was effective in enhancing both static and dynamic balancing ability and muscular activity. It also increased the lung capacity although the change was not at a statistically significant level.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effective recovery method of exercise-induced fatigue and muscle pain by comparing the effect of the use of illite hot mat product and general hot mat product on the recovery of muscle pain induced by high intensity exercise. Methods : To measure and analyze the changes in lactic acid, CRP, and ACR according to the high-intensity circuit training program, this study was conducted for the healthy adult men and women, who exercise st the K-region sports center. A total of 45 subjects were studied in 15 groups of 15 patients who received an illite hot-water mat recovery group (A group), 15 general hot-water mat recovery group (B group), and 15 control group (C group). The circuit training exercise program was conducted as a one-time exercise, and each exercise time consisted of 30 minutes of warm-up exercise, 5 minutes of main exercise, 20 minutes of clean-up exercise, and 5 minutes of strength exercise. The intensity setting was high intensity of subjective exercise intensity It carried out by setting to (14-16RPE). Results : Changes in Lactic Acid Concentration There was a significant difference in the lactic acid concentrations between the groups after the high intensity circuit training program (p <.05). The illite rest group (A) decreased 7.71 mmol / L and the control group decreased 4.03 mmol / L. Significantly decreased (p <.05). Changes in ACR Concentration. There was a significant difference in the ACR concentrations Significant differences were found in CRP and ACR during the recovery period after exercise. (p <.05), the elite rest group (A) decreased 2.47 mg / mmol, and the control group increased 1.63 mg / mmol. There was a significant difference (p <.05). Conclusion: The static rest on a heated mat after high-intensity exercise has an effect on changes in blood lactate and ACR levels.
Asymmetrical posture during static stance has been identified as a common problem in persons with hemiplegia. This study examined the effect of a purposeful exercise training program on symmetrical weight bearing in three adult persons with hemiplegia. Multiple baseline design was used. The intervention program, including ball throwing and catching, rolling ball catching and throwing, and Swiss ball pulling and stopping was introduced for 15 minutes each day during each intervention phase. Quantitative measurement of the weight distribution was taken with the Limloader. Visual inspection and mean of data revealed a significant improvement in symmetrical weight distribution. This result suggests that a purposeful exercise training program can be effective in helping persons with hemiplegia achieve symmetric stances.

PURPOSE: The purpose of present study was to ascertain how the activity of the serratus anterior muscle, the upper trapezius muscle and the pectoral major muscle was affected while the upper arm was being flexed at 70, 90 and 110 degrees respectively in a closed kinetic chain exercise (wall push up plus) and an open kinetic chain exercise (static hug). METHODS: Sixteen healthy young men subjects participated in the study. Surface electromyography (EMG) data were collected from the dominant-side muscles during a closed kinetic chain exercise and an open kinetic chain exercise. The activity of each muscle was measured quantitatively, and by the use of the two-way repeated ANOVA, the data were compared with each other according to exercises and shoulder flexion angles. RESULTS: Results indicated that the closed kinetic chain exercise did not interact with the open kinetic chain exercise (p>.05). In both the closed kinetic chain exercise and the open kinetic chain exercise, the activity of the serratus anterior muscle became different significantly according to angles (p<.05). Its activity increased in order of 70, 90 and 110 degrees (p<.05). In both exercises and all angles, muscle activity was significantly higher in the serratus anterior muscle than in the upper trapezius muscle and the pectoral major muscle (p<.05). CONCLUSION: The above results show that there is a need to selectively control the exercise stress of the serratus anterior muscle in the case of the patients with the shoulder impingement syndrome characterized by the winged scapula, insufficient scapular protraction and upward rotation.
