  • This paper describes design and implementation of the DIDL(Digital Item Declaration Language) parser and Session mobility in Digital Item Adaptation. The DIDL is a declaration language which is a uniform and flexible abstraction and interoperable schema for declaring Digital Items. Session mobility specifies a mechanism to preserve a user's current state of interaction with a Digital Item. In this paper, Session mobility is implemented through the DIDL. For session mobility, the XDI (context digital item) shall capture the configuration-state of a Content digital item, shich is defined by the state of Selection elements in DIDL.

  • The importance of the interaction capability of a robot increases as the application of a robot is extended to a human's daily life. In this paper, a portable mediate interface Handybot is developed with various interaction channels to be used with an intelligent home service robot. The Handybot has a task-oriented channel of an icon language as well as a verbal interface. It also has an emotional interaction channel that recognizes a user's emotional state from facial expression and speech, transmits that state to the robot, and expresses the robot's emotional state to the user. It is expected that the Handybot will reduce spatial problems that may exist in human-robot interactions, propose a new interaction method, and help creating rich and continuous interactions between human users and robots.

  • This paper examines tasi and tto, two Korean adverbs with roughly the same semantic value of again. It presents two empirical generalizations: (i) semantically tasi can mark the recovery of the original state, modifying an eventuality that is token-identical to a contextually-given eventuality, whereas tto is only limited to mark a simple repetition, thus modifying a type-identical event; (ii) functionally tasi can modify result states, but tto cannot. Then, it illustrates how the functional difference of result state modification can be accounted for by the notion of default events.

  • Nowadays clusters are recognized as an important instrument for promoting industrial development, innovation, competitiveness and growth. An educational cluster is a set of interrelated vocational educational institutions of various levels that are united by industry with each other and are connected by partnership with industry enterprises. This article attempts to develop and describe cluster model of university students' multilingual training. The purpose of this study is to describe multilingual training of university students and their polycultural competencies formation and to define the process of multilingual training in form of a cluster. The authors consider clusters as an integral part of the educational campus within the concept framework of Shadrinsk State Pedagogical University. To determine the essence of the concept of a cluster model of university students' multilingual training, theoretical, empirical, observational, and diagnostic methods were implemented, such as a review of scientific literature, a compilation of best practices, observation, statistical methods, etc. The authors analyzed the programs of partner universities and organized international webinars and internships for bachelors and masters abroad and developed online courses "Foreign language for undergraduate students and masters". Experimental data obtained during the implementation of cluster training show the effectiveness of the formation of students' polycultural competencies.

First, the purpose of language education was recognized on the formations of essence, concept, expertise, technique and attitude toward language. Second, the contents of language education must be selected by children's experience that they encounter in ordinary life based on oral language and written language. Besides, early childhood teachers strongly felt the necessity of new contents of language education, although they thought of insufficiency of their knowledge on the issue. Third, the method of language education was mainly accomplished by teaching material and objects. Besides, they were aware of looking for new organized teaching methods and also concerned of the importances of teacher's attitude and group formation method. Fourth, the evaluation of language education must be acquired by desirable evaluation method that was based on the recognition of children's unrealistic language capabilities, even though they had recognized the difficulty to do because of knowledge insufficiency. They also showed the tendency of negligence on the evaluation of language education. Fifth, the required facts for early childhood teachers on language education were development and supply of teaching materials, demand on teacher's education and appropriate evaluation method, and cognitive changes on language education by public toward the written language.

  • Neural machine translation (NMT) has recently achieved the state-of-the-art performance. However, it is reported failing in the word sense disambiguation (WSD) for several popular language pairs. In this paper, we explore the extent to which NMT systems are able to disambiguate the Korean homographs. Homographs, words with different meanings but the same written form, cause the word choice problems for NMT systems. Consistent with the popular language pairs, we discover that NMT systems fail to translate Korean homographs correctly. We provide a Korean word sense disambiguation tool-UTagger to use for improvement of NMT's translation quality. We conducted translation experiments using Korean-English and Korean-Vietnamese language pairs. The experimental results show that UTagger can significantly improve the translation quality of NMT in terms of the BLEU, TER, and DLRATIO evaluation metrics.
