National and international standards for curtain wall glass are focused on wind pressure and insulation performance, but disasters such as fires and earthquakes are not considered. Failure of curtain wall glass during a fire in a skyscraper increases the loss of lives and property due to the spread of fire. Therefore, the fire resistance of curtain wall glass should be investigated, and technology to prevent glass failure should be developed to prevent fire damage due to spreading fire. It is important to predict the starting point of cracks and the cause of glass failure to prevent it effectively using the limited water in a skyscraper. In this study, double glazed glass was exposed to a radiator in an experiment performed to analyze the thermal characteristics. The results show that glass that was not directly exposed to high temperature and pressure was broken. To identify this failure case, numerical analysis was performed. Three glass specimens were installed in an ISO 9705 room and exposed to radiation using a radiator, and a thermocouple was used to measure the temperature on the surface of the glass. Widely used double glazed glass was analyzed for weakness to fire.
Personal and social characteristics, disease status, reason of delay of receiving drug from City Health Center and knowledge and attitude on the pulmonary tuberculosis were compared between the faithful group in treatment and the unfaithful group among the patients for pulmonary tuberculosis registered in a City Health Center in order to analyze the factors which influenced the faithfulness to treatment. Record as well as interview survey was done toward all patients of 247 who were registered and being cared during over 6 months in a City Health Center from April 1, 1982 to March 31, 1983, and results were as follows; 1. There was no statistically significant difference in sex and age distribution between the faithful group in treatment and the unfaithful group. 2. There was no statistically significant difference in marital status distribution between the faithful group and unfaithful group in treatment. 3. The lower education group comprised higher proportion than the higher education group among the faithful group in treatment. 4. The proportion of the emlployed was higher than unemlpoyed among the unfaithful group in treatment. 5. The proportion of mild case was higher than severe case among the unfaithful group in treatment. 6. As for the onset of delay of receiving drug, 'less than 3 month after starting treatment' was 59.5% among the unfaithful group in treatment. 7. The reasons of delay of receiving drug were 'no time' (42.2%). 'being away from home' (25.0%), 'being sick' (13.8%), and 'forgot the appointed date' (12.0%). 8. There was no statistically significant difference in the knowledge on the communicability of the tuberculosis between the faithful groups in treatment and the unfaithful group. 9. There was no statistically significant difference in the knowlege on B.C.G. as vaccination drug of tuberculosis between the faithful group and the unfaithful group in treatment. 10. This study analyzed the location of manufacturing industries and works' residence in Yangsan city of which large part of industries were relocated from Busan metropolitan area along the industrial suburbanization process. Through the field survey, in-depth interview, and analysis of statistical data, the study tried to describe the relocation characteristics of manufacturing industries in Yangsan city. The results of the analysis are as follows: 1. The relocation rate of manufacturing industries from Busan to Yangsan was very high in 1980s. As a result of analysis, the first prime factor on relocation was the site problem for industrial land use. But for the newly starting industries, the most important factor was the subcontract networks among industries which differed from relocated ones. 2. The industrial suburbanization process influenced on the industrial structure strongly, as the compositional weight of rubber and plastic industries in Yangsan became greater and the size of the major plants got larger. 3. The manufacturing industries in Yangsan city were widely distributed on the main national industrial districts. Also, they were diffused out to the other places beyond the boundary of industrial districts. 4. The commuting workers' residence in Busan, employed by the plants of Yangsan marked 44.5%. That confirmed the strong influence of Busan labor market.
Base researches in geoscience and mineral resources, such as geological and geo-thematic mapping, geological survey and observation, have long-term, continuity and time-leasing characteristics and they are difficult to present the particular research stages or progressions in the research span. The Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), developed by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is effective for presenting research maturity levels and progression in the development of new technologies. This study suggests adjusted definitions for the Technology Readiness Levels to fit Geo-technology (Technology in Geoscience and Mineral Resources). Base geological researches, including mapping, surveys and observation, can be also presented in research levels from TRL 1 (R&D planning, literature survey) to TRL 9 (geological information construction and service in all target areas) in terms of the final product's coverage. Moreover, not only development and construction of commercial products, geological disasters and environmental researches can also be presented in field demonstrations through public pilot applications. The modified commercialization or cemonstration TRLs in Geo-technology are TRL 5 (starting pilot field application), TRL 6 (pilot field operation) and TRL 7 (pilot field operation for a larger scale, greater than ten percent of the actual environment).
Atrial fibrillation(AF). chronic or paroxysmal is the most frequent arrhythmia in human subjects Duration of P wave in signal-averaged electrocardiography(SAECG) reflects intra-atrial conduction time and therefore. could be used as an electrophysiological marker for atrial conduction chance at the earthy stave. So we apply the analysis method using SAECG to diagnose Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(PAF) . Subjects Participated for the study consisted of two groups: a control group(n=34) of normal healthy volunteers and a group of AF Patients(n=38) with a documented history of PAF but no other history of cardiac disease. We evaluated the effect of several filtering and determination methods to find the starting and ending feints of the P wavy on its duration. To increase the measurement reliability of P wave duration. the automatic detection method was proposed. Also. to increase the detection rate for PAF risk, the decision threshold value was optimized using receiver operation characteristics(ROC) curve. Results showed that the highest statistical difference (p〈0.001) of the P wane duration between controls and subjects was obtained at the Processing condition, using absolute threshold vague(8.75 $\mu N$) , a least mean square(LMS) high pass filter and 30 Hz cutoff frequency. The most outstanding difference(sensitivity 88 % specificity 64.4 %) between controls and subjects was obtained at the decision threshold value of 112 ms.

The purpose of this study was to apply the instructional strategies for conceptual change prescribed by Posner et al(1982) to the astronomic content domain taught in the elementary and middle school and to analyze the characteristics of students' knowledge revealed in the test before, during and after the instruction. Also, it was to investigate the intercorrelation of cognitive levels, spatial ability and science achievement. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. Students had a great variety of misconceptions related to the motion of the moon before the instruction, that is, the phases, the names of phases and the cause of changing phases by the moon's orbit about the earth, the moon's appearance and location at the given time, the relative positions of earth, moon and sun during a lunar eclipse, the cause that a full moon is not at the line of node once a month. In the analysis of students' responses concerning the cause of changing phases of the moon and a lunar eclipse, the results indicate that the great majority of students had rote learning rather than meaningful learning in the middle school. 2. Students' reponses during the instruction concerning the changing phases of the moon and the predictive knowledge about the motions of the earth and the moon were analyzed. 1) According to the results of the test given before and after experiment, after discussion, achievement score of the whole of subjects and groups in both preformal and formal cognitive levels appeared to increase linearly. 2) There was no statistically significant differences of achievement scores before and after experiment, after discussion between preformal group and formal group in cognitive levels. 3. Distribution of achievement scores according to the whole of subjects and groups in preformal and formal cognitive levels shows that there was a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest. 4. Types of conceptual changes concerning the cause of changing phases of the moon that occurred from pretest to posttest were classified as accommodation, incomplete accommodation, assimilation, no change and no model. Six of the seven students starting instruction with alternative frameworks didn't sustain those alternative models throughout instruction. Five of these six students accommodated completely and the last one partially. Seventy-nine percentage of students taking instruction with fragmental models assimilated correct propositions at the end of the instruction. These results suggest that conceptual change model prescribed by Posner et al(1982) has promised the meaningful learning to students taking with fragmental models, especially in cases where students with misconception enter instruction. 5. High correlation between achievement score of simple-recall items and that of written items in pretest and posttest indicates that the higher students got the score in simple-recall items the better they also performed in written items. However, there was no statistically significant differences among cognitive levels, spatial ability and science achievement in the whole of subjects and groups according to the cognitive levels.

In this paper, the effect of Near-Far Problem (NFP) among distributed nodes in OFDMA-based Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) is analyzed by investigating statistical characteristics of Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) and Desired-to-Undesired power Ratio (DUR). In order to overcome the effects of Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI), Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI), and Inter Link Interference (ILI), caused by TDoA in WMNs, we derive effective SINR for each subcarrier, and then, propose the optimal starting point of FFT window which can minimize BER for each subcarrier. In addition, we propose a subcarrier-based Zero Forcing - 2 Dimensional Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation (ZF-2DOSIC) technique for signal detection in WMNs with TDoA. It is verified by simulation that the effective SINR and uncoded BER performances of the proposed signal detection technique for OFDMA-based WMNs are significantly improved, compared with those of conventional technique.
The effect of sodium hydroxide treatment on some physicochemical properties of zeolite mordenite mineral was studied with chemical analyses, powder X-ray diffraction, thermal analyses, infrared analysis, measurement of carbon dioxide adsorption and gas chromatography. Mordenite mineral from tuffaceous rocks in Yeongil and Wolsung area was used as a starting material and treated with 0.1-5N NaOH aqueous solution at about $95^{\circ}C$ in the water bath for three hours. At the concentration of sodium hydroxide below 0.5N, all chemical compositions in the tuff were virtually insoluble and the mordenite structure did not change. At the concentration above 1N, the chemical compositions such as silica, alumina, etc., were dissolved. The dissolution ratio of silica was lager than that of alumina, and the ratio of silica to alumina in the tuff decreased sharply in the concentration range of 2 to 3N. Intensity of X-ray diffraction peak of mordenite (202) plane and the adsorbed amount of carbon dioxide also decreased with the increasing concentration of sodium hydroxide above 1N. These decreases corresponded to the degree of mordenite structure collapsed. The separation of gas chromatography of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon monoxide was not affected by the sodium hydroxide treatment, but elution peaks of methane and krypton tended to be broadened and their retention time was shortened. The elution peaks of both methane and krypton tended to be overlapped with those of nitrogen and oxygen.
This study aims to classify the biotope types based on the vegetation community in built-up areas by different land use and to map the plant communities. By classifying biotopes according to a taxonomic system, the characteristics of a biological community can be well-represented. The biotope classification indexes for the target area include human behavioral factors such as land use intensity, land-use patterns and land-cover types. The type classification was divided into four hierarchic ranks starting with Biotope Class, next by Biotope Group and Biotope Type and lastly by Biotope Sub-Type. The Biotope Class was first divided into two areas: the areas improved by humans and the areas unimproved by humans. The improved areas were again divided into permeable and non-permeable regions on the Biotope Group level. In the Biotope Type level, permeable paving areas were divided into areas with wide gap pavers and those with narrow gap pavers. The differential species of each biotope type are Lindera glauca, Conyza canadensis, Mazus pumilus, Vicia tetrasperma, Crepidiastrum sonchifolium, Zoysis japonica, Potentilla supina and Festuca arundinacea. The results of this study suggest that the biotope classification methodology, using a subjective phytosociological approach, is a useful and valuable tool and the results also suggest the possibility of applying more objective and scientific methods in mapping and classifying various environments.
The isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic parameters of reactive blue 4 adsorbed by activated carbon were investigated for activated carbon dose, pH, initial concentration, contact time, and temperature data. The adsorption of the RB 4 dye by activated carbon showed a concave shape in which the percentage of adsorption increased in both directions starting from pH 7. The isothermal adsorption data were applied to Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin isotherms. Both Freundlich and Langmuir isothermal adsorption models fit well. From determined Freundlich separation factor (1/n = 0.125 ~ 0.232) and Langmuir separation factor (RL = 1.53 ~ 1.59), adsorption of RB 4 by activated carbon could be employed as an effective treatment method. The constant related to the adsorption heat (BT = 2.147 ~ 2.562 J mol-1) of Temkin showed that this process was physical adsorption. From kinetic experiments, the adsorption process followed the pseudo second order model with good agreement. The results of the intraparticle diffusion model showed that the inclination of the first straight line representing the surface diffusion was smaller than that of the second straight line representing the intraparticle pore diffusion. Therefore, it was confirmed that intraparticle pore diffusion is the rate-controlling step. The negative Gibbs free energy change (ΔG = -3.262 ~ -7.581 kJ mol-1) and the positive enthalpy change (ΔH = 61.08 kJ mol-1) indicated the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the adsorption process, proving this process to be spontaneous and endothermic.
