  • The microstructure and dilatation for 0.15C steels were investigated to define the phase transformation during the quenching and partitioning (Q&P) process. For the one step Q&P dilatation, the isothermal martensite/bainite transformation occurred because the holding temperature was between $M_s$ and $M_f$. The isothermally transformed martensite/bainite and the athermally transformed martensite were produced by a loss of retained austenite. As the holding time increased, new martensite-start ($M_s$) temperature produced from the final quenching process decreased due to the carbon partitioning from the martensite to the retained austenite. This was the direct evidence of increment for the retained austenite stability. For the two step Q&P dilatation, the isothermal bainitic transformation occurred because the partitioning temperature was larger than the $M_s$ and new $M_s$. The partitioning at $400^{\circ}C$ indicated the short incubation period for the bainite transformation than the $350^{\circ}C$ partitioning because the partitioning at $400^{\circ}C$ should acquire the larger thermal driving force for carbon partitioning than the $350^{\circ}C$ partitioning. A quick drop of $M_s$ and short period of bainite incubation for the $400^{\circ}C$ partitioning steel were also the direct evidence of significant effects of carbon partitioning on the stability of retained austenite.

  • This study presents a hybrid balanced voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) circuit which is suitable for low phase noise operation at sub-1V supply voltages. Half circuits of the proposed VCO use the varactor-integrated feedback capacitors in their respective circuit. The varactor-integrated feedback capacitors further increase the negative resistance of the equivalent tank thereby ensuring stable start-up of oscillation even at the sub-1V supply voltage. In addition, this work theoretically analyses the phenomenon of the increase of the negative resistance. Simulation results using a $0.18{\mu}m$ RF CMOS technology exhibit the phase noises of -122.4 to -125.5.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from oscillation frequency of 4.87 GHz over the supply voltages of 0.6 through 0.9 V.

  • The feasibility study into the development of turbine spinners, which start up the turbo-pump, has been carried out and the design requirements and parameters ranges have been presented. Turbine spinners use the solid propellant as such composite propellant based AN compound with high energy plasticizers, coolants, and phase stabilizer which relieves a sensible volume change due to the phase transformation of AN near room temperature. Propellants which have a homing rate of $0.2{\sim}0.3\;mm/s$ and pressure exponent ranged from 0.3 to 0.6, showed stable burn-out in the standard motor tests. Both the magnitude of ignition energy and its thermal transfer mechanism have been proved to have a tangible effect on the ignition of the pyre starter, and the results of this study showed that a flame temperature of 1400K would be quite adequate to get a stable ignition for the AN composite propellant.

  • In this paper, a bidirectional power supply charger is proposed. This system used a solar cell panel to generate electricity and used super capacitors to store these energies, which can be used for the robot cleaner or some other electronic products. This system include a phase-shift controlled bidirectional dual active bridge (DAB) converter, solar panel super capacitors and DSP controller. In the daytime it can charge to the super capacitors to store the energy generated by the solar cell panel and in the night it will release the energy stored in the super capacitors to loads. A prototype of the proposed bidirectional power supply charger system was designed which can achieve 18V to 30V input, 10V/20W output to super capacitors and 9V/6.5W output when it acts as a charger for the robot cleaner. The system is verified to be sTable and reliable by both the simulation and experimental results.

  • Power Quality Compensator(PQC) has been installed to protect the sensitive loads against the voltage disturbances, such as voltage sag and interruption. In general, static switch is used for the purpose of link between utility and PQC. So transfer operation of the static switch play a important part in the PQC. Many studies on the structure and control of PQC have been progressed in active, but these researches have been rarely mentioned about any voltage-disturbances-detection method to start the PQC operation. In this paper, a new voltage-disturbances-detection algorithm for computer application loads using the CBEMA/ITIC curve is proposed for transfer operation of the static switch. The proposed detection algorithm is implemented to get fast detecting time through the comparison of instantaneous 3-phase voltage values transferred to DC values in the synchronous reference frame with the operating reference values. To get the robust characteristics against the noise, a first order digital filter is designed. The magnitude falling and phase delay caused by the filter are compensated through the error normalizing and numerical analysis using transfer function, respectively. Finally, the validity of the proposed algorithm is proved by ACSL simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, We are composed the position recognition and speed control using the moving robot in the shield Room with a RF Module and Ultrasonic Sensors. Double look up tables are selected a reference value/duty ratio. The moving robot with the dual fuzzy rules which can decrease a Conversion time than basic fuzzy control rules at start point and curve region. Also, a changing times of double look up table are rise at specific points b1,c1,d1 in the e-${\Delta}e$ phase plane and the one of the look up table is used which for increase rising time at transition area, the other used for rapidly conversion to the reference value. We verified that a dual fuzzy control rules get the good response compare with the basic fuzzy control rule.

  • Our experience of neutron noise analysis in French-type 900 MWe pressurized water reactor (PWR) is presented. Neutron noise analysis is based on the technique of interpreting the signal fluctuations of ex-core detectors caused by core reactivity changes and neutron attenuation due to lateral core motion. It also provides advantages over deterministic dynamic-testing techniques because existing plant instrumentation can be utilized and normal operation of the plant is not disturbed. The data of this paper were obtained in the ULJIN unit 1 reactor during the start-up test period and the statistical descriptors, useful for our purpose, are power spectral density (PSD), coherence function (CF), and phase difference between detectors. It is found that core support barrel (CSB) motions induced by coolant flow forces and pressure pulsations in a reactor vessel were indentified around 8 Hz of frequency.

  • The COREA (COsmic ray Research and Education Array in Korea) project aims to build a ground array of particle detectors distributed over Korean Peninsular, through collaborations of high school students, educators, and university researchers, in order to study the origin of ultra high energy cosmic rays. COREA array will consist of about 2000 detector stations covering several hundreds of $km^2$ area at its final configuration and detect electrons and muons in extensive air-showers triggered by high energy particles. During the intial phase COREA array will start with a small number of detector stations in Seoul area schools. In this paper, we have studied by Monte Carlo simulations how to select detector sites for optimal detection efficiency for proton triggered air-showers. We considered several model clusters with up to 30 detector stations and calculated the effective number of air-shower events that can be detected per year for each cluster. The greatest detection efficiency is achieved when the mean distance between detector stations of a cluster is comparable to the effective radius of the air-shower of a given proton energy. We find the detection efficiency of a cluster with randomly selected detector sites is comparable to that of clusters with uniform detector spacing. We also considered a hybrid cluster with 60 detector stations that combines a small cluster with ${\Delta}{\iota}{\approx}100m$ and a large cluster with ${Delta}{\iota}{\approx}1km$. We suggest that it can be an ideal configuration for the initial phase study of the COREA project, since it can measure the cosmic rays with a wide range energy, i.e., $10^{16}eV{\leq}E{\leq}10^{19}eV$, with a reasonable detection rate.

  • The proposed converter has easy device selection for high step-up and high power applications since boost half bridge and voltage doubler cells are connected, respectively, in parallel and series in order to increase output power and voltage. Especially, optimized design of high frequency transformers is possible owing to reduced turn ratio and eliminated dc offset, and distributed power through three cores is beneficial to low profile and thermal distribution. The proposed converter does not necessitate start-up circuit and additional clamp circuit due to the use of whole duty range between 0 and 1 and is suitable for applications with wide input voltage range. Also, high efficiency can be achieved since ZVS turn on of switches are achieved in wide duty cycle range and ZCS turn on and off of diodes are achieved. The proposed converter was validated through 5 kW prototype.

  • This study concerns the succession process of protozoa populations in two activated sludge pilot plants. Protozoa populations with similar structures developed and succeeded each other in two plants. It was observed that initial sludge inoculum did not influence the protozoan composition but shorten the period of the plant stabilization. It seemed the protozoan in aeration tank was come from the influent. The composition of the influent sewage influenced the structure of protozoa in the pilot plants. The flagellates was very abundant during the initial starting phase. These rapidly decreased after growth peak. Then sarcodina, ciliates were increased in succession. In ciliates, free-swimming forms appeared at first and crawling forms and stalked forms were followed. After 36 days from the start, the sludge stabilization phase was characterized by a populations of ciliates dominated by stalked and crawling type and low value of effluent BOD was achieved.
