  • Objectives : Nomenclature for medical terminology is the most important point in traditional medical standardization. For example, standard nomenclature for acupuncture points, herbal medicines and prescriptions have been treated. However, studies on standard nomenclature for traditional medical books are rare. Methods : Following up all articles in Journal of Korean Medical Classics[JKMC], which have romanized name for medical books and analyzing problems of those. Results : There were so several methods to write in romanized character even to unique and replaceable name. Conclusions : Romanized nomenclature for medical book as a terminology must have unique expression. So we suggest that authors to write articles have to use unique romanized nomenclature for medical books and books published in a certain country should be written in romanized characters with their own languages.

  • A comparison of the analytical data obtained by three $k_0$-NAA software programs was carried out using both the airborne particulate matter collected from an urban site and the certified reference materials of the air filter and urban dust to evaluate the performance of the analysis. The individual $k_0$-NAA standardization methods of three countries, Korea, China and Vietnam which had been modified from the well established $k_0$-program were used for the comparative analysis. The measured concentrations of 30 elements from the two kinds of air samples based on this software were in agreement with each other within about 20% analytical error except for a few elements. By contrast, the results of China and Vietnam were moderately higher than that of Korea due to a systematic error associated with the detection efficiency, gamma peak analysis and geometric effect.

  • It has been recognized that international food standards should be considered for a long time. The Codex Alimentarius programme initiated in the early 1960s has received valuable background documentation from the ICMSF (International Commission on Microbiological Specification for Foods) and also from ISO(the International Organization for Standardization). There has been a considerable move towards international harmonization of standards and methods of analysis. Many foreign countries recommend the guidelines for food microbiological standards quantitatively. To complement microbiological limits and tolerance levels for permissible number of defective samples, allowances should be made for sampling and other variations in laboratory methods. It may be necessary for guidelines of domestic food microbiological standards to be established so that the domestic food standards can be harmonized with foreign food standards. Food safety related microbiological guidelines of ICMSF, EU (European Union), UK (United Kingdom), China (Hong Kong) and Japan were reviewed and shown in examples.

  • Objectives: Term standardization is important in every field of study. There have been several attempts to standardize terms in Korean Traditional Medicine (KTM). We undertook a review of Romanized prescription nomenclature of main titles in the Journal of Korean Medicine to analyze the methods of Romanized prescription nomenclature. Methods: We extract Romanized prescription names from Vol. 26, No. 4 to latest Issue Vol. 34, No. 2, Journal of Korean Medicine. Results: The Society of Korean Medicine has guidelines for Romanized prescription nomenclature. However, only 72 out of 142 Romanized prescription names conformed with the guidelines. In addition, 117 out of 142 names were italicized without guideline. Also, there were several ways of marking prescription names. Conclusions: For making information and easy searching of terms, we need normative regulations for Romanized prescription nomenclature by the Society of Korean Medicine.

  • In this study, author suggests menu selection according to disease and standard cooking methods for hospital patients. Nutritional state of patients must be considered to select menu. Especially age, sex, and disease symptoms are important factors to determine the nutritional requirement. Special diet should be delivered to cure the patients with different appetite, digesting ability and symptoms. Menu must be planed including various food although nutritional restrictions should be considered, In this point of view, effective cooking methods and considerations of various Korean traditional food as hospital food are suggested. Recipe of traditional Korean beverage and cookies are also presented.

  • Generally, the owners of the facilities adopt CP(Cathodic Protection) Systems to protect the corrosion accidents previously. The developed countries have secured the standard of CP systems and its test methods through the various researches and consolidation of the rules. So, we have been studying the international standards; JSEC, NACE Standard, ASTM, DNV, Australian Standard etc. and standardizing the systems and its test methods to apply in Korea.

  • American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard test method PS 070-97 has been created for measuring fracture toughness of advanced ceramics. PS 070-97 includes three test methods which use beams in bending: chevron notch (CNB), single-edged precracked beam (SEPB), and surface crack in flexure (SCF). Supporting data has been collected through several Versailles Advanced Materials and Standards round robins. This paper discusses the evolution of the standard including the rationale for the choice of the three methods and the specifications in the standard. Progress on Standard Reference material 2100 which will have certified values of fracture toughness is presented.

  • Generally. the owners of the facilities adopt CP(Cathodic Protection) Systems to protect the corrosion accidents previously. The developed countries have secured the standard of CP systems through the various researches and consolidation of the rules. So in the first stage, I had been studied the international standards: JSCE, NACE Standard. ASTM, DNV, Australian Standard etc. and standardized the CP systems about items, performance. specifications and so on. In this thesis, I have been studying the results of standardization of performance test methods of CP system to apply in Korea.

  • Superconducting sensors and detectors have been applied to many fields or beginning to enter the maturing stage. The applications spread over a wide range of fields such as radio telescope, medical examination, quantum information, contamination inspection, materials analysis, etc. For users of the superconducting devices as well as developers, we have to avoid confusion of naming, graphical circuit symbols, and measurement methods for device performance. We are trying to formulate international standards under the International Electrotechnical Commission - Technical Committee 90 (IEC-TC90), which is responsible for superconductivity. The sensors and detectors to be considered are divided into two groups: coherent sensors (SQUID, SIS mixers, etc.) and direct detectors (TES, STJ, MKID, SSPD, etc.).
