  • In this study, we used a chemiluminescence reaction to investigate the removal effect of pet soil, such as dog blood, urine and feces. The soiled fabrics were washed with a standard laundry course of 30℃ and a washing time of 30 min and a pet care laundry course of 40-60℃ and a washing time of 100 min. The detergency was evaluated by the surface reflectance and chemiluminescence reaction (bloodstain detection by luminol test and urine-stain and feces-stain detection by UV blacklight test) before and after washing. The surface reflectance results did not show any difference in detergency for both courses, whereas the chemiluminescence reaction did. The detergency of the pet care course compared to the standard course was 101% according to the surface reflectance and 120% according to the chemiluminescence reaction. Therefore, residual stains not detected by surface reflectance can be evaluated through chemiluminescence reaction, and it was confirmed that pet stains can be managed more hygienically by washing for a long time at a high temperature.

  • Purpose In the textile industry, fabric defects significantly impact product quality and consumer satisfaction. This research seeks to enhance defect detection by developing a transformer-based deep learning image segmentation model for learning high-dimensional image features, overcoming the limitations of traditional image classification methods. Design/methodology/approach This study utilizes the ZJU-Leaper dataset to develop a model for detecting defects in fabrics. The ZJU-Leaper dataset includes defects such as presses, stains, warps, and scratches across various fabric patterns. The dataset was built using the defect labeling and image files from ZJU-Leaper, and experiments were conducted with deep learning image segmentation models including Deeplabv3, SegformerB0, SegformerB1, and Dinov2. Findings The experimental results of this study indicate that the SegformerB1 model achieved the highest performance with an mIOU of 83.61% and a Pixel F1 Score of 81.84%. The SegformerB1 model excelled in sensitivity for detecting fabric defect areas compared to other models. Detailed analysis of its inferences showed accurate predictions of diverse defects, such as stains and fine scratches, within intricated fabric designs.

  • Objective : Many researchers believe that the hypothermia shows neuro-protective effect on brain injury. To understand the molecular mechanism of the hypothermic treatment, this study investigated its effects on the expression of cell death or survival related proteins such as p53, Bcl-2 and Bax in the rat traumatic brain injury[TBI] model. Methods : Twenty rats [Spraque Dawley, $200{\sim}250g$] were subjected to the brain injury of moderate severity [$2.4{\sim}2.6atm$] using the fluid percussion injury device and five rats were received only same surgery as controls. During 30minutes after the brain injury, the hypothermia group was maintained the body temperature around $34^{\circ}C$ while the control group were maintained that of $36^{\circ}C$. Five rats in each group were sacrificed 12h or 24h after brain injury and their brain sections was analyzed for physical damages by H-E stains and the extent of apoptosis by TUNEL assay and immunohistochemical stains. The tissue damage after TBI was mainly observed in the ipsilateral cortex and partly in the hippocampus. Results : Apoptosis was observed by TUNEL assay and the Bax protein was detected in both sample which harvested 12h and 24h after TBI. In the hypothermia treatment group, tissue damage and apoptosis were reduced in HE stains and TUNEL assay. In hypothermia treatment group rat shows more expression of the Bcl-2 protein and shows less expression of the Bax protein, at both 12h and 24h after TBI. Conclusion : These results show that the hypothermia treatment is an effective treatment after TBI, by reducing the apoptotic process. Therefore, it could be suggested that hypothermia has a high therapeutic value for treating tissue damages after TBI.

  • Myazedi Quadrilingual Stone Inscription of Myanmar, inscribed to the World Heritage List in 2015, is a rare historical artifact which has an exact date of inscription. It is a written record that displays the history, religion, and culture of Myanmar. Since the surface of the Stone Inscription has been rubbed with ink many times during the process of making printed copies for interpretation and academic research, it has developed a serious stain problem. Therefore, scientific analysis of the stain and research on the treatment for its removal have been conducted. In particular, an experiment was conducted on stain removal using laser cleaning and chemical treatment. The stains are mostly ink dirt, which accumulated from previous ink-rubbing processes. In order to conduct the experiment under similar conditions, a sample with similar stain has been reproduced, and a set of different conditions for treatment was applied to the sample to determine an effective solution. Laser cleaning was found to be effective in removing stains from most samples. However, chemical treatment showed different results. The physical friction method using ethanol provided the best result. In conclusion, laser cleaning is an effective universally-applicable technique but chemical treatment with laser cleaning can be considered an alternative method in certain situations.

  • Recently, esthetic dentistry has been developed because beauty is pursued by both dentists and patients. A scope of esthetic treatment has been expanded and the roles of hygienists in dental treatment have also become of importance. Generally, we make use of the ultra-sonic scaler to remove the stains attached to teeth surfaces, but when we utilize the rubber cup and pumice in prophylaxis, this increases the hypersensitivity, patient's anxiety, and chairtime. So, we substitute Air-polishing that increases patient's satisfaction and decreases chairtime for above method, Here, I would like to explain indications and contraindications, advantages and disadvantages, and usages of Air-polilshing briefly.

  • The investigation includes the application of $ZrSiO_4-Cd(SxSe_{1-x})$stain to ceramic body. The currently developed stain was compared to the commercially available stain in applying to ceremic glaze. Two stains (currently developed and commecially available) were mixed with frits and applied to ceramic tiles. The tiles were fired at 850 to 120$0^{\circ}C$ and tested by colorimeter in X.Y.Z. axis of the wavelength ranging from 580nm to 650nm. Applicability 18 stains to ceramic body was investigated by ISCC-NBS of Munsell color nomenclature. $ZrSiO_4-Cd(SxSe_{1-x})$stain is as good as V and Pr series stain in mixing composition of frits 9 to 1. It maintains red color at 100$0^{\circ}C$ in the mixture of frits, and shows as the strong acid resistance stain.

  • To investigate the morphology of the synovial lining cells, synovitis was induced by carrageenin injection into the rat knee joint cavities. Synovial membranes were excised at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 days, and histologic, electron microscopic, histochemical (periodic acid Schiff: PAS, toluidine blue), and enzyme histochemical (acid phosphatase: ACP, nonspecific esterase: NSE and endogenous peroxidase) studies were performed. The results are as follows: Carrageenin induced synovial membrane hypertrophy with synovial cell proliferation and granuloma formation. The proliferated synovial lining cells and macrophages in the granulomatous lesion had round to oval nuclei and large, plump cytoplasm with many phagocytotic materials and vacuoles. Electron microscopically, these cells had small number of granular endoplasmic reticulum and many lysosomes, phagosomes and vaculoes. Mitotic figures were observed at early stage of experiment. PAS and toluidine blue stains showed strongly positive reaction in the cytoplasm of the proliferated lining cells and macrophages in granulomatous lesion. ACP and NSE activities were strong positive in the cytoplasm of the proliferated synovial lining cells and macrophages in the granulomatous lesion. But endogenous peroxidase stains were negative in all prolifeative lining cells and macrophages in granulomatous lesion. Conclusively, carrageenin-induced synovitis showed proliferation of synovial lining cells and granuloma formation in deep layer. The macrophages, which consisted of the lesions and have active phagocytic function, were speculated to proliferate by mitosis of superficial synovial A cells and histiocytes in the deep layer of the synovial membrane.
