  • This thesis explores the principle of a performer's organic action by means of his/her bodily responses on stage. This research has been developed to define the nature of a performer's central task in order to constitute empirical understanding of acting and the purpose of training in addressing the question of what sort of qualitative bodily training is necessary to be in a state of the full body involvement. This study investigates to articulate a performer's fundamental task at the most rudimentary level by utilizing those theatre artists' concepts with practical assumptions. In particular, the key terms, happen and change signifies the quality of a performer's body that has to fit into the given environment in which the performer's body can be subordinated through the moment on stage. Here, we argue that a performer's essential task parallel to make the following moment to happen and change by means of progressing a set of the next moment. In this manner, we also argue that a moment of displaying the performer's conscious effort, forceful and externalizing the visible elements under the use of erroneous language leads his/her body not to function on stage, a state of disengagement from his/her body. Finally, we provide a way to facilitate a performer's organic action by focused on his/her lived experience to create the functional moment which is opposite to the predominance of a representation, maintaining the performer's intellectual sense.

  • This study aims at giving the framework to estimate the environmental load at planning and schematic phase. With increasing awareness of environmental issues, the effort to reduce the environmental impacts caused by human activity has been increasingly enlarged. So far most of researches estimating CO2 emissions have analyzed energy consumption based on BOQ (Bills of Quantity) acquired after detailed design. There is also lack of reliability in the estimated environmental impact using the basic unit of a facility at the planning stage, because it uses a limited specific section of historical data. Thus, this study is targeted at developing framework to assess reliable environmental loads based on information available at project early phases by making case-bases from historical design information on PSC Beam Bridge. Historical database is built on the basis of the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and in order to set input information for estimating model, the literature about information in an early project phase are reviewed. Using the information available in the planning and schematic design stage, the Framework is presented to estimate the environmental load in an early stage in the project. Developing an environmental load estimation model in accordance with the Framework presented in this study, it is expected that the environmental load in the initial project phase can be estimated more quickly and accurately.

  • Recently, demand for embedded systems requiring low power and high specifications has been increasing, and RISC-V processors are being widely applied. RISC-V, a RISC-based open instruction set architecture (ISA), has been developed and researched by UC Berkeley and other researchers since 2010. RV32I ISA is sufficient to support integer operations such as addition and subtraction instructions, but M-extension should be defined for multiplication and division instructions. This paper proposes an RV32I, RV32IM processor, and indicates benchmark performance scores compared to an existing processor. Additionally, A non-stalling method was proposed to support a 2-stage pipelined DSP multiplier to the 5-stage pipelined RV32IM processor. Proposed RV32I and RV32IM processors satisfied a maximum operating frequency of 50 MHz on Artix-7 FPGA. The performance of the proposed processors was verified using benchmark programs from Dhrystone and Coremark. As a result, the Coremark benchmark results of the proposed processor showed that it outperformed the existing RV32IM processor by 23.91%.

  • High-rise buildings are widely being constructed in the Middle-East, South-East, and East Asia. These buildings are usually willing to stand for the landmark of the region and, therefore, exhibit some extraordinary features such as super-tall height, elevation set-backs, overhangs, or free-form exterior surface, all of which makes the construction difficult, complex, and even unsafe at some construction stages. In addition to the elaborately planned construction sequence, prediction and monitoring of building's movement during construction and after completion are required for precise and safe construction. This is often called the Building Movement Control during construction. This study describes Building Movement Control of the KLCC Tower, a 58-story office building currently being built right next to the famous PETRONAS Twin Towers. The main items of the Building Movement Control for the KLCC Tower are axial shortening and verticality. Preliminary prediction of these items are already carried out by the structural design team but more accurate prediction based on construction stage analysis and combined with time-dependent material testing, field monitoring, and site survey is done by the main contractor. As of September 2010, the Tower is under construction at level 30, where the plan abruptly changes from rectangle to triangle. Findings and troubleshooting until the current construction stage are explained in detail and implementations are suggested for future applications.

  • A role of cost modeler is that of facilitating design process by the systematic application of cost factors so as to maintain sensible and economic relationships between cost, quantity, utility and appearance. These relationships help to achieve the client's requirements within an agreed budget. The purpose of this study is to develop a parametric cost estimating model for the early design stage by using the multi-dimensional system of OLAP (On-line Analytical Processing) based on the case of quantity data related to architectural design features. The parametric cost estimating models have been adopted to support decision making in the early design stage. These models typically use a similar instance or a pattern of historical case. In order to effectively use this type of data model, it is required to set data classification and prediction methods. One of the methods is to find the similar class in line with attribute selection measure in the multi-dimensional data model. Therefore, this research is to analyze the relevance attribute influenced by architectural design features with the subject of case-based quantity data used for the parametric cost estimating model. The relevance attributes can be analyzed by Analytical Characterization. It helps determine what attributes to be included in the OLAP multi-dimension.

  • The quality of performance evaluation on engineering consultants that provide design-related technical services is difficult to be measured, and only a handful of papers discussed the quality during the design stage. Although design cost is relatively far less than construction cost for a project, the decisions made in the design phase have a significant impact on the final products of the project, especially for large public construction projects. Therefore, this research focuses on reviewing and then establishing a performance evaluation framework for the consulting firms that execute detailed design and provide technical services for the Taipei Rapid Transit Systems (TRTS). By interviewing experts, this study first established a set of indicators to evaluate these firms' performance. Then, those indicators were incorporated into the four aspects of balanced scorecard (BSC) to establish the architecture of the evaluation mechanism. The weight of each indicator was calculated by analytic hierarchy process (AHP) from a survey conducted among experts. The results showed that the top-three indicators were quantity take-off, functions conformity, and budgeting. The framework of performance evaluation established by this study can be applied to measure service performance during the design stage. It not only facilitates the monitoring of consulting firms, but also helps to reduce unnecessary change orders and disputes during the construction stage.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate performance characteristics. in the success of team attack during volleyball competition. For this, real game was analyzed using S-VHS video camera for three dimensional cinematography. The contents of this research were receive to set time, set to spike time, setter moving distance, ball position during set and attacker's relative ball position during jump and spike, and open area at spike. Among the various kinematical factors considered in this study, the ball height relative spiker and open area were found to be related to offensive performance. This finding implies that although their direct impact were not significant the other factors could have indirect impact on offensive performance by increasing open area. Thus, receiver, setter, assistant attacker, and main attacker should practice for successful performance in each stage. Lastly, it is necessary to develop kinematic variables to evaluate performance characteristics of players. Further study may consider the best defense position against the attack of the opponent player.

  • It requires an interim performance assessment for BTL business of the sewerage rehabilitation which continues from 2005 till now. Means, It is necessary to make an interim performance assessment and an analysis of an business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which still continues, and we presented an improvement method of the new sewerage rehabilitation project in future. This paper has conducted an analysis of the business effect for 3 local government BTL projects which are completed and under operation as of now in Jincheon-Gun, Cheongju-Si and Gangjin-Gun. As a method of business effect analysis, we conducted a business effect of the 3 places using the index set which we previously set for the business effect analysis. The index set in this research was sectionalized to an improvement effect of operating wastewater treatment plant, an benefit effect of the direct cost, an benefit effect of the indirect cost and an environment friendly effect. We, in this paper, conducted an business effect analysis for 3 sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which are completed or under operation recently as a demonstration, however we judge that an business effect analysis shall be conducted in a stage that a significant time for operation has passed since the completion of the construction in order to induce an actual business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL project.

  • An information retrieval system, using exact match, needs preprocessing or query expansion to generate transliteration variants in order to search foreign word transliteration variants in the documents. This paper proposes an effective method to generate other transliteration variants from a given transliteration. Because simple rewriting of confused characters produces too many false variants, the proposed method controls the generation priority by learning confusion patterns from real uses and calculating their probability. Especially, the left and right context of a pattern is considered, and local rewriting probability and global rewriting probability are calculated to produce more probable variants in earlier stage. The experimental result showed that the method was very effective by showing more than 80% recall with top 20 generations for a transliteration variants set collected from KT SET 2.0.
