  • A rotating blade of steam turbines is designed using blade design system. To minimize the design time. quasi three dimensional flow analysis code is adopted to calculate blade section. The blade section lies on a streamline determined by previous steam turbine design procedures. The blade design system makes a transform of streamline coordinates, (m, r$\theta$), to (m', $\theta$) coordinates and all design procedure except 3 dimensional stack-up is performed in the coordinates. Each designed blade section is stacked-up and whole 3 dimensional blade can be modified by correcting 2D section, repeatly. The full 3D numerial analysis for the one stage including designed rotating blade will be performed later

  • The effects of addition of magnesium only and the simultaneous addition of magnesium and aluminum on the graphite morphology of the cast iron with the composition of 3.6wt.% and 2.5wt.%Si poured into shell stack mold were investigated. The nodularity and mechanical properties of the specimen with smaller cross-section were higher than those with langer one, when copper was not added. When the magnesium only was added, the nodularity was decreased with decreased residual magnesium content and the C. V, graphite was obtained with the magnesium content in the range of 0.010~0.015wt.%. When the magnesium and aluminum were added together, the nodularity was decreased with decreased residual magnesium and increased aluminum contents. When copper was added, the volume fraction of pearlite in the matrix, strength and hardness were higher and elongation was lower for specimen with smaller cross-section. The volume fraction of pearlite, strength and hardness were increased and the elongation was decreased with increased copper content for the specimen with C, V, graphite.

  • The ShortStack Micro Server enables any product that contains a microcontroller or microprocessor to quickly and inexpensively become a networked, Internet-accessible device. The ShortStack Micro Server provides a simple way to add LonWorks networking to new or existing smart devices. . It implements the LonTalk protocol and provides the physical interface with the LonWorks communication. The ShortStack host processor can be an 8, 16, or 32-bit microprocessor or microcontrollers. The ShortStack API and driver typically require about 4kbytes of program memory on the host processor and less than 200 bytes of RAM. The interface between host processor and the ShortStack Micro Server may be a Serial Communication Interface (SCI). The LonWorks control module with a high performance is developed, which is composed of the 8 bit PIC Microprocessor for host processor and the smart neuron chip for the ShortStack Micro Server. This intelligent control board is verified as proceeding the various function tests from experimental system with an boost pump and inverter driving systems. It is also confirmed that the developed control module provides stably 0-10VDC linear signal to the input signal of inverter driving system for varying the induction motor speed. Thus, the experimental results show that the fabricating intelligent board carried out very well the various functions in the wide operating ranges of boost pump system. This developed control module expect to apply to industrial fields to require the comparatively exact control and monitoring such as multi-motor driving system with inverter, variable air volume system and the boost pump water supply systems.

  • The effects of Alloying Element and Heat Treatment on the mechanical properties of ductile cast iron poured into shell stack molds were investigated. The strength and hardness were increased and the elongation was decreased roughly with the increased amounts of tin and copper added, respectively. Those were greatly increased with the increased amount of tin added and the elongation was roughly decreased with it. In the simultaneous addition of copper and tin, the strength and hardness of the tin increased, but the elongation rate decreased. Those were greatly increased and this was decreased with normalizing. In the case of specimens with smaller section sizes during austempering processing, the strength and hardness were higher than those with larger sections, but the elongation rate was lower.

  • In a passive-type PEMFC stack, axial fans operate to supply both oxidant and coolant to cathode side of the stack. It is possible to make a simple system because the passive-type PEMFC stack does not require additional cooling equipment. However, the performance of a cooling system in which water is used as a coolant is better than that of the air-cooling system. To ensure system reliability, it is essential to make cooling system effective by adopting an optimal stack design. In this study, a numerical investigation has been carried out to identify an optimum cooling strategy. Various channel configurations were applied to the test section. The passive-type PEMFC was tested by varying airflow rate distribution at the cathode side and external heat transfer coefficient of the stack. The best cooling performance was achieved when a channel with thick ribs was used, and the overheating at the center of the stack was reduced when a case in which airflow was concentrated at the middle of the stack was used.

  • The effects of mold variable and main alloying element on the mechanical properties of ductile cast iron poured into shell stack mold were investigated. The strength and hardness of with the smaller cross-section of the diameter of 6.25mm were higher than those of 12.50mm. On the other hand, the elongation of the former was lower than that of the latter. The strength and hardness of the specimens obtained from the center layer in the 5-story stack mold were the lowest and those for other specimens were increased with increased distance from the center. The elongation of those were the highest of all. The strength and hardness of the specimens obtained from the center layer were decreased the elongation was increased with the increased number of layers. The strength and hardness were increased and the elongation was decreased roughly with the increased amounts of reaidual magnesium and carbon content added, respectively. The strength and hardness were increased and the elongation was decreased roughly with the increased amounts of silicon content added to 2.45wt% and rather decreased with that to 2.85wt%. The effect of silicon content showed the opposite tendency to those of residual magnesium and carbon content.

  • The Domi Basin in the South Sea of Korea is located between the Jeju Basin and Ulleung Basins, and is characterized by several sediment sags that are interested to have formed by crustal extension. This paper aims to derive an optimized seismic data processing procedure which helps stratigraphic interpretation of the Domi Basin. In particular, our data processing flow incorporated horizon velocity analysis (HVA) and surface-relative wave equation multiple rejection (SRWEMR) to improve the quality of stack section by enhancing the continuity of reflection events and suppressing peg-leg multiples respectively. As a result of processing procedures in this study, unconformities were recognized in the stack section that defines the early and middle Miocene, Eocene-Oligocene sequences. In addition, the overall quality of the stack section was increased as essential data to investigate the evolution of the basin. The suppression of multiple resulted in the identification of the Cretaceous basement. The data processing scheme evaluated through this study is expected to improve the standardization of processing sequences for seismic data from the Domi and adjacent Sora and north-Sora Basins.

  • In this study, air sampling locations in the stack of the Advanced Fuel Science Building (AFSB) at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) were assessed according to the ANSI/HPS N13.1-1999 specification. The velocity profile, flow angle and $10{\mu}m$ aerosol particle profile at the cross-section as functions of stack height L and stack diameter D (L/D) were assessed according to the sampling location criteria using COMSOL. The criteria for the velocity profile were found to be met at 5 L/D or more for the height, and the criteria for the average flow angle were met at all locations through this assessment. The criteria for the particle profile were met at 5 L/D and 9 L/D. However, the particle profile at the cross-section of each sampling location was found to be non-uniform. In order to establish uniformity of the particle profile, a static mixer and a perimeter ring were modeled, after which the degrees of effectiveness of these components were compared. Modeling using the static mixer indicated that the sampling locations that met the criteria for the particle profile were 5-10 L/D. When modeling using the perimeter ring, the sampling locations that met the criteria for particle profile were 5 L/D and 7-10 L/D. The criteria for the velocity profile and the average flow angle were also met at the sampling locations that met the criteria for the particle profile. The methodologies used in this study can also be applied during assessments of air sampling locations when monitoring stacks at new nuclear facilities as well as existing nuclear facilities.

  • Conventionally, vertical-seismic-profiling (VSP) survey that provides high-resolution information has mainly performed to obtain the exact depth of the gas hydrate-bearing sediment, which is one of the key factors in the development of the gas hydrate. In this study, we extracted interval velocities and created corridor stacks from the first domestic zero-offset VSP data, which were acquired with three component receivers at UBGH09 borehole in Ulleung Basin where gas hydrate exists. Then we compared the corridor stacks with a CMP stacked section from surface seismic data. First of all, we converted the signals recorded with three component receivers to true vertical and horizontal components by phase rotation, and divided the data into direct waves and reflected waves by wavefield separation processing. The trend of the interval velocity extracted from the zero-offset VSP was similar to that of the sonic log obtained at the same borehole. Because the interval velocity of the gas hydrate-bearing sediment above the BSR was high, and it decreased suddenly through the BSR, we could infer that free gas is accumulated below the BSR. The results of comparing the corridor stacks to the CMP stacked section of the surface seismic data showed that most reflection events agreed well with those in the surface CMP stacked section and that the phase-rotated VSP data corresponded better with the surface seismic data than the VSP data without phase rotation. In addition, by comparing a corridor stack produced from the transverse component with the CMP stacked section of the surface seismic data, we could identify PS mode-converted reflections in the CMP stacked section.
