Comparison of the Quality Characteristics of the Rice yield Trial Lines in the Central Plain Region for Four Years

  • In order to developing high-quality rice varieties and processing varieties, systematic and stable evaluation of physicochemical properties is required for breeding lines. In this study, we compared the quality characteristics evaluation results of rice breeding lines for cooked rice, special rice, and whole crop silage rice adapted to central plain region (Suwon) in order to use as basic data for future rice variety development. Brown rice length/width ratio, head rice ratio, protein content, amylose content, alkali digestion value(ADV) and Toyo value were analyzed to evaluate the quality characteristics of yield trial lines cultivated in Suwon for four years (2017-2020). Brown rice length/width ratio, head rice ratio, protein content, ADV and Toyo values showed significant differences by year, but there was no significant difference in amylose content (p<0.05), which showed little environmental variation. The head rice ratio and Toyo value showed an increasing trend, while the protein content showed a decreasing trend. However, the protein content was the highest in 2020, which is thought to be owing to little sunlight hours due to heavy rainfall in 2020. The protein content of whole crop silage rice was 8.1%, which was significantly higher than that of other lines (p<0.05). Toyo value of medium-maturing and early-maturing lines were 67.6 and 73.7%, respectively, and the Toyo value of medium-maturing lines was higher than that of the early-maturing lines (p<0.05). In correlation analysis among the quality characteristics of the rice lines for cooked rice, significant positive correlations were detected between Toyo value and head rice ratio, amylose content, ADV, and a negative correlation was observed between Toyo value and protein content (p<0.05).

A passive vibration isolator with bio-inspired structure and inerter nonlinear effects

  • This paper developed and examined a novel passive vibration isolator (i.e., "X-inerter") motivated by combining a bio-inspired structure and a rack-pinion inerter. The bio-inspired structure provided nonlinear stiffness and damping owing to its geometric nonlinearity. In addition, the behavior was further enhanced by a gear inerter that produced a special nonlinear inertia effect; thus, an X-inerter was developed. As a result, the X-inerter can achieve both high-static-low-dynamic stiffness (HSLDS) and quasi-zero stiffness (QZS), obtaining ultra-low frequency isolation. Furthermore, the installed inerter can produce a coupled nonlinear inertia and damping effect, leading to an anti-resonance frequency near the resonance, wide isolation region, and low resonance peak. Both static and dynamic analyses of the proposed isolator were conducted and the structural parameters' influence was comprehensively investigated. The X-inerter was proven to be comparatively more stable in the ultra-low frequency than the benchmarking QZS isolator due to the nonlinear damping and inertia properties. Moreover, the inertia effect could suppress the bio-inspired structure's super- and sub-harmonic resonance. Therefore, the X-inerter isolator generally possesses desirable nonlinear stiffness, nonlinear damping, and unique nonlinear inertia, designed to achieve the ultra-low natural frequency, the anti-resonance property, and a wide isolation region with a low resonance peak.

기상요인이 농산물 유통에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 배추 유통 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Effects of Meterological Factors on the Distribution of Agricultural Products: Focused on the Distribution of Chinese Cabbages)

  • 농업은 타 산업 대비 기상환경에 큰 영향을 받는 산업이다. 기상 상태는 수시로 변화하며, 지역에 따라 서로 다른 특성을 보인다. 또한 이러한 지역적 특성은 그 지역의 농산물의 재배환경에도 영향을 주게 된다. 이러한 특성 때문에 기상이 농업에 미치는 영향에 대해서는 그동안 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 대부분의 연구가 농작물의 생산에만 초점이 맞춰져, 농작물이 생산에서 유통과정에서 기상요인이 미치는 영향을 통합적으로 살펴본 연구는 매우 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 대표적인 농작물인 배추를 중심으로, 기상요인이 농산물 유통에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 배추는 우리 식탁에서 빼놓을 수 없는 식재료이면서, 기상 변화에 영향을 많이 받는 품목이다. 기상이변으로 배추의 가격이 폭등하게 되면 서민가계에 직접적으로 영향을 받게 된다. 이러한 관점에서 생산과 유통단계별로 기상요인이 배추에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 배추의 재배유형별 거래량과 거래가격에 대한 실거래 데이터와 재배시기와 판매지역에 따른 기상요인에 대한 자료를 수집하여, 배추의 도매시장 거래량과 거래가격에 영향을 미치는 기상요인을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구 결과 배추의 생산지 기상요인보다 판매지역 기상요인의 영향이 배추의 거래량과 거래가격에 상대적으로 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로, 향후 기상요인을 고려한 출하시기와 반입량에 대한 정책적 가이드라인을 제시하여 농산물 수급에 대한 선제적이고 체계적인 대응체제가 구축된다면, 기상변화에 민감한 농산물의 가격안정에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

안정동위원소 및 Diving-PAM을 이용한 남서해안 만호해역 (진도-해남) 김 양식장에서의 일차 생산력 (An Assessment of Primary Productivity Determined by Stable Isotopes and Diving-PAM in the Pyropia Sea Farms of the Manho (Jindo-Haenam) Region on the Southwestern Coast of the Korean Peninsula)

  • 김 양식을 하고 있는 해역의 물리 화학적인 해양환경 특성, 식물플랑크톤 색소 조성과 농도, 식물플랑크톤 및 방사무늬김의 일차 생산력을 2014년 3월에 김 양식이 이루어지고 있는 만호해역에서 조사를 하였다. 수온은 $9.1{\sim}9.6^{\circ}C$, 염분은 32.5~33.1이었고, 투명도는 높은 탁도로 인하여 유광층이 낮아져 0.7~1.5 m를 보였다. 수층의 용존 무기질소, 용존 무기인 및 규산 규소 각각의 농도는 $3.59{\sim}5.73{\mu}M$, $0.16{\sim}0.41{\mu}M$, $12.41{\sim}13.94{\mu}M$이었다. 클로로필 a 농도는 $0.51{\sim}1.25{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$이었고, $0.7{\sim}20{\mu}m$ 범위의 nanoplankton의 클로로필 a 농도가 58%를 차지하였다. 규조류의 marker 색소인 fucoxanthin의 농도는 $0.51{\sim}1.25{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$로서 전 정점에서 높은 값이었고, $20{\sim}200{\mu}m$ 범위의 fucoxanthin이 64%를 차지하였다. 식물플랑크톤에 의한 일차 생산력은 $57.72{\pm}4.67(51.05{\sim}66.71)mg\;C\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$이었고, $0.7{\sim}20{\mu}m$ 범위의 nanoplankton이 76.9%를 차지하였으며, 면적을 고려한 일차 생산력은 $11,337kg\;C\;d^{-1}$이었다. 방사무늬김에 의한 평균 일차 생산력은 $1,926{\pm}192(1,102{\sim}2,597)mg\;C\;m^{-2}d^{-1}$이었고, 면적을 고려한 일차 생산력은 $39,295kg\;C\;d^{-1}$이었다. 식물플랑크톤과 방사무늬김에 의한 일차 생산력을 토대로 계산된 만호해역의 일차 생산력은 $50,632kg\;C\;d^{-1}$로 나타났다. 만호해역의 식물플랑크톤에 의한 일차 생산력이 다른 해역보다 낮고, 김의 일차 생산력이 식물플랑크톤의 일차 생산력보다 약 3.5배 높았다.

순환식 수경재배에 적합한 방울토마토 '꼬꼬' 배양액 개발 (Development of Optimal Nutrient Solution of Cherry Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. 'KoKo') in a Closed Soilless Culture System)

  • The experiment was conducted to investigate the nutrition absorption pattern in the growth stage and develope the optimal nutrient solution hydroponically grown the cherry tomato 'Koko' in closed substrate culture system with the nutrient solution of National Horticultural Research Station in Japan into 1/2S, 1S, and 2S. When plant was grown in 1/2S, the growth and yield were high and the pH and EC in the root zone were stable. Suitable composition of nutrient solution for cherry tomato was $NO_3-N\;6.8,\;PO_4-P\;2.7,\;K 3.2,\;Ca\;3.6\;and\;Mg\;1.1\;me\;L^{-1}$ in the early growth stage, $NO_3-N\;7.3,\;PO_4-P\;2.2,\;K\;3.7,\;Ca\;3.6;and\;Mg\;1.1\;me\;L^{-1}$ in the late growth stage by calculating a rate of nutrient and water uptake. To estimate the suitability for the nutrient solution in a development of cherry tomato developed by Wongkwang university in Korea (WU), plant was grown in perlite substrate supplied with different solution and strengths(S) by research station for greenhouse vegetable and floriculture in the Netherlands (Proefstation voor tuinbouw onder glas th Mssldwijk; PTG) of 1/2S, 1S, and 2S, respectively. The growth was good at the PTG and WU 2S in the early stage and the PTG of 1S and WU of 1S and 2S in the late stage. The highest yield of cherry tomato obtained in the WU of 2S. pH and EC in root zone of WU of 2S were stable during the early and late growth stage. Therefore when cherry tomato plant was grown in WU of 2S of EC $1.6{\sim}2.0\;dS\;m^{-1}$in the nutrient solution, not only stable growth and yield but also fertilizer reduction can be obtained than that of PTG.

La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$의 안정한 결함구조 (Stable Defect Structure of La2O3-Modified BaTiO3)

  • La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$의 안정한 결함구조와 단일상 영역을 X-선 회절분석기와 주사전자현미경을 사용하여 연구하였다. La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$의 안정한 결함구조는 La$^{3+}$ 이온이 격자구조내의 Ba$^{3+}$ 이온을 치환하고 Ti빈자리가 전하 불균형을 보상하기 위한 결함으로 생성된 [($Ba^x_{Ba})_{1-2x}(La{\cdot}_{Ba})_{2x}][Ti^x_{Ti})_{1-x/2}(V""_{Ti})_{x/2}]O_3$이다. 안정한 결함구조가 형성되도록 BaTi$O_3$에 La$_2O_3{\cdot}3/2TiO_3$를 혼입할 때 단위격자는 약 3 mol%가 혼입될 때부터 정방정에서 입방정으로 변하였고, 고용한계는 약 14 mol%이었다. La2$O_3{\cdot}3/2TiO_2$를 고용한계 이상으로 혼입할 때는 이차상으로 La_4Ba_2Ti_5O){18}$가 생성되었다. La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$ 조성에서 BaO가 과량 존재하면 소결성이 나쁘지만, Ti$O_2$가 과량으로 존재하면 액상소결에 의하여 소결성이 좋아짐을 확인할 수 있다.

스마트폰의 사용으로 인한 조절 변화에 따른 안정피로도에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Stability Fatigue according to the Accommodation Change due to the Use of Smartphone)

  • Purpose. In this study, The change of the accommodation function due to the use of a smartphone was objectively evaluated using an Auto Refractokeratometer and was to investigate the effect of accommodation response and microfluctuations of accommodation on stable fatigue. Methods. Twenty subjects (20 males, 20 females) who had no abnormalities in ophthalmic disease and strabismus, diplopia, suppression, convergence and ocular movement, and corrected visual acuity and unaided visual acuity of 0.8 or more were performed. The average age of the participants is (21.78 ± 1.78) years old. The refractive power of the eye was measured using an Auto Refractokeratometer (Speedy-i K-model, Righton Mfg Co. Tokyo Japan), and the equivalent spherical power was automatically calculated from the measured refractive power. The accommodation response amount was calculated for the accommodation stimulation amount in 8 steps in 0.5D increments from + 0.50D to -3.00D in the calculated equivalent spherical power. The microfluctuations of accommodation in the high frequency region was calculated according to the change in the amount of the accommodation stimulus. At this time, the spectral power of the microfluctuations of accommodation was analyzed by Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). Results. After using the smartphone, it was found that the accommodation response to accommodation stimulation decreased and the microfluctuations of accommodation increased. Conclusions. It can be said that the use of a smartphone affects the accommodation response and the microfluctuations of accommodation, thereby causing a accommodative stable fatigue. Therefore, it is thought that the use of a smartphone for a long time may bring about a change in the accommodation function.

A Novel Acid-Stable Endo-Polygalacturonase from Penicillium oxalicum CZ1028: Purification, Characterization, and Application in the Beverage Industry

  • Acidic endo-polygalacturonases are the major part of pectinase preparations and extensively applied in the clarification of fruits juice, vegetables extracts, and wines. However, most of the reported fungal endo-polygalacturonases are active and stable under narrow pH range and low temperatures. In this study, an acidic endo-polygalacturonase (EPG4) was purified and characterized from a mutant strain of Penicillium oxalicum. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of EPG4 (ATTCTFSGSNGAASASKSQT) was different from those of reported endo-polygalacturonases. EPG4 displayed optimal pH and temperature at 5.0 and 60-70℃ towards polygalacturonic acid (PGA), respectively, and was notably stable at pH 2.2-7.0. When tested against pectins, EPG4 showed enzyme activity over a broad acidic pH range (>15.0% activity at pH 2.2-6.0 towards citrus pectin; and >26.6% activity at pH 2.2-7.0 towards apple pectin). The Km and Vmax values were determined as 1.27 mg/ml and 5,504.6 U/mg, respectively. The enzyme hydrolyzed PGA in endo-manner, releasing oligo-galacturonates from PGA, as determined by TLC. Addition of EPG4 (3.6 U/ml) significantly reduced the viscosity (by 42.4%) and increased the light transmittance (by 29.5%) of the papaya pulp, and increased the recovery (by 24.4%) of the papaya extraction. All of these properties make the enzyme a potential application in the beverage industry.

Comparison of Blue Luminescence Between Spark-processed Photoluminescian Silicon and Ambient Air Aged Anodically Etched Porous Silicon

  • Ambient air aged anodically etched porous silicon (PS) and spark-processed silicon (sp-Si) show interesting similarities and dissimilarities in some of their luminescence-related properties. Among these similarties are: (1) the photoluminescence (PL) peak maximum in the blue/violet (410 nm);(2) the blue/violet PL peak positions are essentially unchanged with temperature ; (3) PL decay times in the nanosecond region which are independent of the detection wavelength, which is much faster in decay times compared to that of observed decay time in $SiO_2$.Among the dissimilarities are: (1) the PL intensity of blue/violet luminescence, namely, the PL intensity of sp-Si is at least 2 orders of magnitude larger than that of an ambient air aged PS; (2) the blue/violet PL intensity of sp-Si is more stable than that of ambient air aged PS under UV illuminations; (3) FTIR spectra of sp-Si favor those modes, which involve silicon -oxygen bonds in $SiO_2$ stoichiometry, whereas ambient air aged PS can be considered as a nonstoichiometric oxide judging from the observed vibrational spectra.

Dynamics of Transverse Magnetic Domain Walls in Rectangular-shape Thin-film Nanowires Studied by Micromagnetic Simulations

  • Dynamic behaviors of transverse domain walls (TDWs) in rectangular shaped thin-film magnetic nanowires with different widths under applied magnetic fields less than the Walker field were studied by micromagnetic simulations. It was found that the velocity of stable TDWs in the viscous region increases from 147 to 419 m/s and their mass decreases from $6.24{\times}10^{-23}\;to\;2.70{\times}10^{-23}kg$ with increasing strength of the applied magnetic field ranging from 5 to 20 Oe for the nanowire with a dimension of 10 nm in thickness and $5{\mu}m$ in length, and 50 nm in width. With increasing the width of nanowires from 50 to 125 nm at a specific field strength of 5 Oe, the TDW's velocity also increases from 147 to 246 m/s and its mass decreases from $6.24{\times}10^{-23}\;to\;5.91{\times}10^{-23}kg$.
