  • In this work, we studied a fluorite structure oxides: Yttria stabilized zirconia, (YSZ); Gd doped $CeO_2$ (GDC); erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (ESB); Zr doped erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (ZESB); Ca doped erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (CESB) in the temperature range of 250 to $600^{\circ}C$ using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). As is well known, grain boundary blocking effect was observed in YSZ and GDC. However, there is no grain boundary effect on ESB, ZESB, and CESB. The Nyquist plots of these materials exhibit a single arc at low temperature. This means that there is no space charge effect on ${\delta}-Bi_2O_3$. In addition, impedance data were analyzed by using the brick layer model. We indirectly demonstrate that grain boundary ionic conductivity is similar to or even higher than bulk ionic conductivity on cubic bismuth oxide.

  • This paper analyzed the price stabilization before and after the fisheries outlook project for seaweed, flatfish, and abalone. First, the stabilization effect was analyzed through the price variation coefficient before and after the observation project. In terms of the variation coefficient, there was no effect that the price was stabilized through the seaweed outlook project. However, it can be seen that flatfish and abalone have a price-stabilizing effect. Second, as a result of analyzing the price stabilization effect through the improved ARMA-T-GARCH model, it was confirmed that seaweed was not statistically significant while flatfish and abalone had a price stabilization effect by statistically significantly reducing volatility of real prices after the introduction of the fisheries outlook project. Third, as a result of analyzing the factors affecting price stability, it was found that the price of seaweed was stabilized after the WTO, but the Japanese earthquake expanded the price volatility. In the case of flatfish, it was analyzed that the price stabilized after the WTO and the Great Japanese Earthquake. Finally, the price of abalone has stabilized since the WTO and the Great Japanese Earthquake.

  • The effect of discrete polypropylene fibre reinforcement on shear strength parameters, tensile properties and isotropic index of stabilized compacted residual subgrade was investigated. Composites of compacted subgrade were developed from polypropylene fibre dosage of 0%, 1%, 2.5% and 4% and 3% cement binder. Saturated compacted soil benefited from incremental fibre dosage, the mobilized friction coefficient increased to a maximum at 2.5% fibre dosage from 0.41 to 0.58 and the contribution due to further increase in fibre dosage was marginal. Binder stabilization increased the degree of isotropy for unreinforced soil at lower fibre dosage of 1% and then decreased with higher fibre dosage. Saturation of 3% binder stabilized soil decreased the soil friction angle and the degree of isotropy for both unstabilized and binder stabilized soil increased with fibre dosage. The maximum tensile stress of 3% binder stabilized fibre reinforced residual soil was 3-fold that of 3% binder stabilized unreinforced soil. The difference in computed and measured maximum tensile and tangential stress decreased with increase in fibre dosage and degree of stabilization and polypropylene fibre reinforced soil met local and international criteria for road construction subgrade.

  • The influence of salt concentration on the stability of sodium caseinate (CAS)-stabilized emulsions (20 wt% corn oil, 3.2 wt% CAS, 5 mM imidazole/acetate buffer, pH 7) was examined. In the absence of salt, laser diffraction measurements and optical microscopy measurements indicated there were some large oil droplets ($d>10\;{\mu}m$) in the emulsions stabilized by 0.8 to 3.2 wt% of CAS. The droplet aggregation (mostly droplet coalescence) observed in the emulsions containing ${\leq}2.8\;wt%$ CAS tended to decrease as the CAS concentration increased, however, after which concentration (at 3.2 wt% CAS) depletion flocculation occurred. The addition of $CaCl_2$ (5-20 mM) into the emulsions stabilized by 3.2 wt% CAS prevented the depletion flocculation although there was a small fraction of relatively large individual droplets in the emulsions, which was attributed to electrostatic screening effect and bridging effect of calcium ion. This study has shown that calcium ion that has been reputed to promote droplet aggregation could improve emulsion stability against droplet aggregation in CAS-stabilized emulsions.

  • Soil-cement stabilization is a type of ground improvement method which has been used to improve the engineering properties of soil. The unconfined compression test is the commonly used method to evaluate the quality of the stabilized soil due to its simplicity, reliability, rapidity and cost-effectiveness. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of recovered carbon black (rCB) on the strength characteristic of cement-stabilized sand. Various rCB contents and water to cement ratios (w/c) were examined. The unconfined compression test on stabilized sand with different curing times was also conducted for a reconstituted specimen. From the test result, it was found that the compressive strength of cement-stabilized sand increased with the increase of the rCB content up to 3% and the curing time and with the decrease of the w/c ratio, showing that the optimum rCB concentration of the tested stabilized sand was around 3%. In addition, a prediction equation was suggested in this study for cement-stabilized sand with rCB as a function of the w/c ratio and rCB concentration at 14 and 28 days of curing.

  • In these days, use of proper soils for construction materials become more limited, but wasted soils are abundant; therefore, the method which can use wasted soil such as soft clay has been investigated. Air-foamed stabilized soil has been used widely, but never been used as a subgrade material. The aim of this study is to verify the use of air-foamed stabilized soil as the subgrade construction material. Several wasted soils such as soft clay was selected to make air-foamed stabilized soil mixtures. The air-foamed stabilized mixture design was conducted to find the optimum quantity of stabilizing agent (cement) and air-foamed, and the effect of cement quantity and air-foamed quantity on strength of air-foamed stabilized soil mixtures base on the test results of unconfined compression test was investigated. As the quantity of cement is increased, the strength is increased, but the quantity of air-foamed is increased and the strength is decreased. Elastic moduli based on unconfined compression strength were obtained to use as subgrade of railway track design.

  • In this study, the physical and dynamic characteristics of soil were analyzed by selecting 3 sections as research subjects among road and structure construction sections in the construction site of the Gwangyang ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ industry area, and conducted consolidation analysis and bearing capacity assessments through Midas-GTS according to the construction conditions of the structures and section conditions of reinforcement using stabilized soil. The effects of improving the settlement and bearing capacity according to the improved effects of the stability and sections of reinforcement using stabilized soil in applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil were analyzed as a solution for improving the settlement and bearing capacity of soft clay for constructing roads and structures. The improvement effects of the settlement and bearing capacity were outstanding when the reinforcement method using stabilized soil to the soft clay was applied. After applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil, the holdback effect of the consolidation settlement was excellent by decreasing the volume of the consolidation settlement from a minimum of 53% to a maximum of 82%. When the width of the reinforcement using stabilized soil was twice the width of the constructed structure, it was found that the holdback effect of the consolidation settlement ranged from 1% to 7% through the width of reinforcement using stabilized soil. In addition, when applying reinforcement more than 6m in width and 1m in depth using stabilized soil, it was found that the increase in the allowable bearing capacity was 2.3 to 3.3 times more than that before applying the reinforcement, which suggests that the increase in bearing capacity by applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil was significant.

  • The stabilized $ClO_2$ gas has been used for many years by the food industry as a strong oxidizing and sanitizing agent that has broad and high biocidal effectiveness. Therefore, "stabilized $ClO_2$" gas may be used in fields of disinfectant and sterilization. But, there have been few studies on the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas with passage of time. The main purpose of this study was to examine the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas and the morphological change of kidney by measuring of the light and electron microscope. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats weighting from 230 gm to 250 gm were used as experimental animals. Under ether anesthesia, the right kidney of rat was obtained. Put each sample in $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ incubator, we obtained each sample after 0 day, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days and 5 days. We proceeded the observation of light and electron microscope. The results obtained in this study reveal that stabilized $ClO_2$ gas is an effective decomposition inhibitor until 2 days that was conducted at $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ conditions.

  • A comparative analysis of the hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) and UV abosrber (UVA) and their respective photostabilizing effect on wood plastic composites (WPCs) are reported in this study. The influence of accelerated weathering on the mechanical properties of the composites and the microscopic morphology of a degraded layer on the cross section and the surface were studied. UV absorbers were more efficient at preventing composite lightening than was UV stabilizer. The amount of whitening decreased with the increase of photostabilizers. With the addition of a UV absorber (Tinuvin360), the tensile modulus and strength of the composites increased slightly. However, the addition of a light stabilizer (Tinuvin770) and a UV absorber decreased the tensile modulus and strength of the composites. After 250 and 500 hr exposure, tensile modulus and strength of the un stabilized and stabilized composites decreased. The tensile strength of UV absorber (Chimassorb81)-stabilized composites was significantly greater than that of control and light stabilizer (Tinuvin770)- and UV absorber (Tinuvin360)-stabilized composites. UV absorber-stabilized samples showed less whitening and photodegradation than control and light stabilizer-stabilized samples.
