Generally, the gap-and-sag method is used in the shipbuilding stage before coupling the shafts to check whether they are installed at the same position as designed and derived from shaft alignment calculation. The primary installed propeller shaft becomes a reference point, the position of the remaining shafts are sequentially determined through the gap-and-sag value derived from the deflection and deflection angle at each shaft flange by own weight. If the reference point varies against the design value, it would have a series of effects on the installation of the remaining shafts. Moreover, after coupling the shafts, even if the bearing reaction forces derived from measurement are satisfied by the allowable limit range, consequently it might have an adverse effect on the stability of the shafting system by not being able to estimate the relative slope angle between the propeller shaft and the after-stern tube bearing. In this paper, to deal with above-mentioned phenomenon, the theoretical calculations related to designing an effective support point of the aft stern tube bearing and analysis by measurement is conducted through a case of open-up inspections. Based on this, a shaft installation guideline is proposed to minimize the misalignment related to preventing wiping damage of the after-stern tube bearing.

The probability of failure is used to analyze the reliability of three dimensional slope failure, instead of conventional factor of safety. The strength parameters are assumed to be normal variated and beta variated. These are interval estimated under the specified confidence level and maximum likelihood estimation. The pseudonormal and beta random variables are generated using the uniform probability transformation method according to central limit theorem and rejection method. By means of a Monte-Carlo Simulation, the probability of failure is defined as; $P_f=M/N$ N: Total number of trials M: Total number of failures Some of the conclusions derived. from the case study include; 1. Three dimensional factors of safety are generally much higher than 2-D factors of safety. However situations appear to exist where the 3-D factor of safety can be lower than the 2-D factor of safety. 2. The $F_3/F_2$ ratio appears to be quite sensitive to c and ${\phi}$ and to the shape of the 3-D shear surface and the slope but not to be to the unit weight of soil. 3. From the two models (normal, beta) considered for the distribution of the factor of safety, the beta distribution generally provides lager than normal distribution. 4. Results obtained using the beta and normal models are presented in a nomgraph relating slope height and slop angle to probability of failure.

In this study, electrode bonding technology needed for high density of rechargeable battery is studied, which is recently researched for electric vehicle, the small leisure vessel. For the alternative overcoming the limit of stacking amount able to be stacked by conventional ultrasonic welding, the low temperature bonding method, eligible for minimum of degeneration of chemical activator on the electrode surface which is generated by thermal effect as well as the increase of conductivity and tension strength caused by electrode bonding using filler metal, not using conventional direct heating on the electrode material method, is studied. Specifically to say, recently used more generally the ultrasonic welding and spot welding method are not usable for satisfying stable electric conductivity and bonding strength when much electrode is stacking bonded. If the electrical power is unreasonably increased for the welding, due to the effect of welding temperature, deformation of electrode and activating material degeneration are caused, and after the last packaging, decline of electrical output and generating heat cause to reduce stability of battery. Therefore, in this study, induction heating system bonding method using high frequency heating and differentiated electrode method using filler metal pre-treatment of hot dipping are introduced.

Determination of regional microbial contamination in the process of rice rolled in dried laver (Kimbab) and effects of gamma irradiation on the improvement of hygienic quality and shelf stability were investigated. Total aerobic bacterial distribution of raw materials of Kimbab were; 10$^{6}$ ∼10$^{7}$ CFU/g in dried laver, 10$^3$ CFU/g in cucumber and below 10 CFU/g in steamed rice, ham, fried egg, and salted radish. Total coliform bacteria were 10$^3$ CFU/g in dried laver and detected below detection limit (10 CFU/g) in other raw materials. And it was arithmetically calculated that the levels of total aerobic bacteria and coliform bacteria in Kimbab does not exceed 10$^{5}$ CFU/g and 10$^1$ CFU/g under the aseptic process, respectively. However, microbial contamination levels in just prepared Kimbab in a market were about 10$^{6}$ CFU/g of total aerobic and coliform bacteria. Therefore, it was considered that microbial contamination of Kimbab is mainly originated from environmental uptake during the preparation. The representative media for putrefying bacterial growth were steamed rice. Coliform bacteria were mainly increased in ham and fried egg during storage. The bacteria in dried laver were radio-resistant and survived at 3 kGy of gamma irradiation. Coliform bacteria on EMB agar plate were eliminated at the dose of 2 kGy. The sensory acceptability of 2 kGy irradiated Kimbab was stable and the Kimbab can be preserved for 24 hour at 15$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, it was considered that optimal irradiation dose for radicidation of Kimbab was 2 kGy.
A rapid, selective and sensitive reversed-phase HPLC method for the determination of dipyridamole in human serum was developed, validated, and applied to the pharmacokinetic study of dipyridamole. Dipyridamole and internal standard, loxapine, were extracted from human serum by liquid-liquid extraction with diethyl ether and analyzed on a Nova Pak $C_{I8}$ column with the mobile phase of 40 mM ammonium acetate:methanol:acetonitrile (35:35:30)(v/v/v, pH 7.8). Detection wavelength of 280 nm and flow rate of 1.0 mL/min were fixed for the study. The assay robustness for the changes of mobile phase pH, organic solvent content, and flow rate was confirmed by $3^3$ factorial design using a fixed dipyridamole concentration (50 ng/mL) with respect to its peak area and retention time. And also, the ruggedness of this method was investigated at three different laboratories using same quality control (QC) samples. This method showed linear response over the concentration range of 2-2000 ng/mL with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999. The lower limit of quantification using 0.5 mL of serum was 2 ng/mL, which was sensitive enough for pharmacokinetic studies of dipyridamole. The overall accuracy of the quality control samples ranged from 103.94 to 105.86% for dipyridamole with overall precision (% C.V.) being 4.60-11.49%. The relative mean recovery of dipyridamole for human serum was 97.64%. Stability studies showed that dipyridamole was stable during storage, or during the assay procedure in human serum. The peak area and retention time of dipyridamole were not significantly affected by the changes of mobile phase pH, organic solvent content, and flow rate under the conditions studied. This method showed good ruggedness (within 15% C.V.) and was successfully used for the analysis of dipyridamole in human serum samples for the pharmacokinetic studies of orally administered Dimor tablet (75 mg as dipyridamole) at three different laboratories, demonstrating the suitability of the method.
A rapid, selective and sensitive reversed-phase HPLC method for the determination of promethazine in human serum was developed, validated, and applied to the pharmacokinetic study of promethazine. Promethazine and internal standard, chlorpromazine, were extracted from human serum by liquid-liquid extraction with n-hexane containing 0.8% isopropanol and analyzed on a Capcell Pak CN column with the mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.2 M potassium dihydrogen phosphate (42:58, v/v, adjusted to pH 6.0 with 1 M NaOH). Detection wavelength of 251 nm and flow rate of 0.9 mL/min were fixed for the study. The assay robustness for the changes of mobile phase pH, organic solvent content, and flow rate was confirmed by $3^{3}$ factorial design using a fixed promethazine concentration (10 ng/mL) with respect to its peak area and retention time. In addition, the ruggedness of this method was investigated at three different laboratories using same quality control (QC) samples. This method showed linear response over the concentration range of 1-40 ng/mL with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999. The lower limit of quantification using 1 mL of serum was 1 ng/mL, which was sensitive enough for pharmacokinetic studies. The overall accuracy of the quality control samples ranged from 96.15 to 105.40% for promethazine with overall precision (% C.V.) being 6.70-11.22%. The relative mean recovery of promethazine for human serum was 63.54%. Stability (freeze-thaw and short-term) studies showed that promethazine was stable during storage, or during the assay procedure in human serum. However, the storage at $-80^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks showed that promethazine was not stable. Extracted serum sample and stock solution were not allowed to stand at ambient temperature for 12 hr prior to injection. The peak area and retention time of promethazine were not significantly affected by the changes of mobile phase pH, organic solvent content, and flow rate under the conditions studied. This method showed good ruggedness (within 15% C.V.) and was successfully used for the analysis of promethazine in human serum samples for the pharmacokinetic studies of orally administered Himazin tablet (25 mg as promethazine hydrochloride) at three different laboratories, demonstrating the suitability of the method.
The target of this study is large scale rock slope collapsed by around 7 pm on August, 2012, which is located at ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ limestone quarries of Gangneung city, Gangwondo. The slope prior to the collapse is formed as the height of about 200 m and the average inclination of $45^{\circ}$. The estimated amount of the collapse is about $1,500,000m^3$ with respect to the slope after the collapse. Geotechnical and field investigations such as boring, geophysical prospecting, surface geological survey, geological lineaments, borehole imaging, metric 3D imaging, experimental and field test, mining work by year, and daily rainfall were performed to find the cause of rock slope failure. Various analyzes using slope mass rating, stereonet projection, limit equilibrium method, continuum and non-continuum model were conducted to check of the stability of the slope. It is expected that the cause of slope failure from the results of various analysis and survey is due to the combined factors such as topography, rainfall, rock type and quality, discontinuities, geo-structural characteristics as the limestone cavity and fault zones, but the failure of slope in case of the analysis without the limestone cavity is not occurred. Safe factor of 0.66 was obtained from continuum analysis of the slope considering the limestone cavity, so the ultimate causes of slope failure is considered to be due to the influence of limestone cavity developed along fault zone.
Jointed rock mass can be analyzed by either continuum model or discontinuum model. Finite element method or finite difference method is mainly used for continuum modelling. Although discontinuum model is very attractive in analyzing the behavior of each block in jointed blocky rock masses, it has shortcomings such that it is difficult to investigate each joint exactly with the present technology and the amount of calculation in computer becomes trio excessive. Moreover, in case of the jointed blocky rock mass which has more than 2 dominant joint sets, it is impossible to model the behavior of each block. Therefore, a model such as ubiquitous joint model theory which assumes the rock mass as a continuum, is required. In the case of tunnels, unlike slopes, it is not easy to obtain safety factor by utilizing analysis method based on limit equilibrium method because it is difficult to assume the shape of failure surface in advance. For this reason, numerical analyses for tunnels have been limited to analyzing stability rather than in calculating the safety factor. In this study, the behavior of a tunnel excavated in jointed rock mass is analyzed numerically by using ubiquitous joint model which can incorporate 2 joint sets and a method to calculate safety factor of the tunnel numerically is presented. To this end, stress reduction technique is adopted.
This study was conducted to enhance the storage stability and the wholesomeness of salted and fermented shrimp manufactured with different salt levels by high hydrostatic pressure sterilization. The effects of high hydrostatic pressure treatment on the putrefactive bacteria in the fermented shrimps were investigated and the sterilization kinetics was analyzed. The initial microbial counts of the fermented shrimp with 8%, 18% salt aged for 6 weeks at $20^{circ}C$ were $1.6{\times}10^3,\;1.4{\times}10^4$ CFU/g for bacteria grown on Vibrio selective media, $9.3{\times}10^3,\;1.7{\times}10^5$ CFU/g for bacteria grown on Staphylococcus selective media, respectively, and null for bacteria grown on Salmonella selective media. The degree of the sterilization increased with the magnitude of the pressure and the treatment time. The fermented shrimp pressurized at 6,500 atm for 10 min had no detectable bacteria grown on Vibrio and Staphylococcus selective media at $10^2$ CFU/g detecting limit. High hydrostatic pressure sterilization could be analyzed by first order reaction kinetics. The $D_P$ values of the bacteria grown on Vibrio selective media of the fermented shrimp at 18% salt were higher than those at 8% salt, while those of the bacteria grown on Staphylococcus selective media showed an inverse trend. The $z_p$ values of 8% salt fermented shrimp were higher than those of 18% salt for both bacteria grown on Vibrio selective media and Staphylococcus selective media. High hydrostatic pressure treatment could be applied for the sterilization of the fermented shrimp, and the optimum high pressure sterilization condition was 10 min treatment at 6,500 atm.

Myungran Jeotkal, Korean fermented seafood, and its ingredients(hot red pepper powder, ginger, garlic, and seasoning mix) were irradiated with 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 5.0 kGy of gamma rays and stored at 4C for 4 weeks to determine changes in microbiological and sensory characteristics. Water activities of Myungran Jeotkal, hot red pepper powder, ginger, garlic, and seasoning mix were 0.89 0.56, 0.98, 0.99, and 0.07, respectively. Myungran Jeotkal was observed to be initially contaminated. Total aerobic bacteria, yeast and mold, and coliform levels were 6.7, 4.3, and 3.6 log CFU/g, respectively. Irradiation at 2 kGy afforded approximately a 4 log reduction in total aerobic bacteria, and a 3 log drop in both yeast and mold levels and coliform bacteria(P<0.05). No viable microbial cells were detected in Myungran Jeotkal after 5 kGy of irradiation(at a detection limit of 101 CFU/g). The total aerobic bacterial level in red pepper powder was 6.3 log CFU/g and this component, of the tested ingredients, contributed most to the microbial contamination of Myungran Jeotkal. The initial count of total aerobic bacteria, 6.3 log CFU/g, was significantly reduced to 4.5 log CFU/g after irradiation(P<0.05). Sensory evaluation showed that gamma irradiation of up to 5.0 kGy did not adversely affect overall acceptability of Myungran Jeotkal or its ingredients during cold storage. Therefore, gamma irradiationwas effective to extend the shelf-life of Myungran Jeotkal.
