  • Ultra Lift Luo Converter (ULC) gained considerable research interest in recent years. The stability analysis of voltage mode and peak current mode controlled ULC in continuous conduction mode is analyzed in this paper. The Eigen value theory is used for the stability analysis of voltage mode controlled ULC. Then to characterize the dynamics of inner current loop, the expressions of closed loop transfer function and loop gain are determined. An algorithm has been developed to analyze the stability of the peak current mode controlled ULC. The theoretical results are correlated with the simulation results obtained using PSIM 9.1(SMARTCTRL 1.0) software. Finally it is proposed to fabricate a prototype and validate the performance by suitable experimental setup.

  • To investigate the nonlinear aerostatic stability of the Hutong cable-stayed rail-cum-road bridge with ultra-kilometer main span, a FEM bridge model is established. The tri-component wind loads and geometric nonlinearity are taken into consideration and discussed for the influence of nonlinear parameters and factors on bridge resistant capacity of aerostatic instability. The results show that the effect of initial wind attack-angle is significant for the aerostatic stability analysis of the bridge. The geometric nonlinearities of the bridge are of considerable importance in the analysis, especially the effect of cable sag. The instable mechanism of the Hutong Bridge with a steel truss girder is the spatial combination of vertical bending and torsion with large lateral bending displacement. The design wind velocity is much lower than the static instability wind velocity, and the structural aerostatic resistance capacity can meet the requirement.

  • A finite element method for the analysis of magnetic fields with hysteresis characteristics is proposed. The method employs Preisach model to describe hysteresis of magnetic material, so that even multi-branch or minor-loop characteristics can be taken into account. The problem can be considered as the analysis of a nonlinear equation where magnetization depends not only on the present value of the magnetic field but also on the past values, and the problem can be solved by the iteration method. Measurements were carried out on soft ferrite EI core for the comparison with computer solution, and good agreements were obtained. is investigated. A theoretical approach to gait study is proposed in which the static stability margins for periodic gaits are expressed in terms of the kinematic gait formula. The effects fo the stride length on static stability are analyzed and the relations between static stability and initial body configurations are examined. It is shown that the moving velocity can be increased to some extent without affecting stability margins for a given initial body configuration. Computer simulations are performed to verify the analysis.

  • This paper describes the variation of the critical speed of an urban railway vehicle according to the change of suspension characteristics. Suspensions of a railway vehicle are composed of primary and secondary suspensions. Generally, main focus of the stability analysis has been the primary suspension. However, secondary suspension has large effects on the stability as well as the ride quality of a vehicle. In this paper, stability of an urban railway vehicle is discussed in relation to the variation of characteristics of both primary and secondary suspension. For this, modal analysis is carried out using a linear dynamic model of a half vehicle and a polynomial fit for Kalker's creep coefficients. Stability along with change of the effective conicity of a wheel is also investigated.

  • This paper presents the modeling, theoretical formulation, and stability analysis for a combined system of a spinning disc and a head that contacts the disc. In the analytic model, head interference is considered by a rotating mass-spring-damper system together with a frictional follower force on the damped annular discs. The multiple scale method is utilized to perform the stability system that shows the existence of instability associated with parametric resonances. Using the formulated system , instability regions of optical recording disc are investigated with variation of mass, stiffness and friction force of a head, respectively. The simulation results show that the stiffness of a head is the most sensitive parameter on the instability of the disc.

  • The rubble base in the seadike structure is construct with rubble-mound of big size for stability of seadike against a tidal current velocity at the closing. The permeability gives an effect to stability of seadike a lot in The case which rubble base is founded long with a lake direction like objective area of this study. The permeability of the rubble base produced in the model test regarding filling condition and materials of the rubble base, It applied the result which it tests in seepage analysis and it analyzed a stability of piping, In this study, it diminishes the permeability of the rubble base to respect, the pit soil more the dredge soil is effective and it was analyzed with the fact that it increases the stability of lake direction slope against the piping.

  • This paper analyzes an eigenvalue distribution and enhancement of the small signal stabiligy when an Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) modeling is connected into the multi-machine power system. Recently a lot of attention has been paid to the subject of dynamic stability. It deals with analysis of eigenvalue sensitivities with respect to parameters of UPFC Controller and damping of interarea and local electromechanical oscillation modes using UPFC Controller. It provides an insight and understanding in the basic characteristics of damping effects of UPFC Controller and shows a very stable frequency response via UPFC in test model. The series branch of the UPFC is designed to damp the power oscillation during transients, while the shunt branch aims at maintaining the bus voltage and angle. Comprehensive time-domain simulation studies using PSS/E show that the proposed robost UPFC controller can enhance the small signal stability efficiently in spite of the variations of power system operating conditions.

  • Soil nailing technique is being widely used for stabilization of vertical cuts because of its economic, environment friendly and speedy construction. Global stability and lateral displacement are the two important stability criteria for the soil nail walls. The primary objective of the present study is to evaluate soil nail wall stability criteria under the influence of in-situ soil variability. Finite element based numerical experiments are performed in accordance with the methodology of $2^3$ factorial design of experiments. Based on the analysis of the observations from numerical experiments, two regression models are developed, and used for reliability analyses of global stability and lateral displacement of the soil nail wall. A 10 m high prototype soil nail wall is considered for better understanding and to highlight the practical implications of the present study. Based on the study, lateral displacements beyond 0.10% of vertical wall height and variability of in-situ soil parameters are found to be critical from the stability criteria considerations of the soil nail wall.

  • This paper deals with the stability analysis of concrete pipes mixed with nanoparticles conveying fluid. Instead of cement, the $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles are used in construction of the concrete pipe. The Navier-Stokes equations are used for obtaining the radial force of the fluid. Mori-Tanaka model is used for calculating the effective material properties of the concrete $pipe-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles considering the agglomeration of the nanoparticles. The first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used for mathematical modeling of the structure. The motion equations are derived based on energy method and Hamilton's principal. An exact solution is used for stability analysis of the structure. The effects of fluid, volume percent and agglomeration of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles, magnetic field and geometrical parameters of pipe are shown on the stability behaviour of system. Results show that considering the agglomeration of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles, the critical fluid velocity of the concrete pipe is decreased.

  • Due to the various restrictions and problems related to the construction of new roads in urban areas, underground road construction has been receiving a great deal of attention in the field of tunnel engineering. In this study, a double-deck road tunnel with a diverging section was analyzed for the evaluation of its stability. Both numerical analysis and scale model tests were performed, the results were used to develop a stability evaluation method for double-deck tunnels with diverging sections constructed in rocks by NATM. From regression analyses conducted on the results of the numerical analysis, an equation and a chart were derived, these tools allow us to obtain the strength/stress ratio (SSR) for double-deck road tunnels with a diverging tunnel in various diverging conditions quickly and accurately. These tools have great potential to help engineers evaluate the stability of double-deck tunnels in the preliminary design stage.
