Variation and stability of agricultural characteristics in soybean landraces and cultivars

  • This experiment was performed to analyze variation of growth traits of soybean to determine the information of less sensitive traits under different environmental conditions. Sowing was carried out on June 2 each year and the experimental plot was laid out in three replicates by randomized complete block design with thirty soybean varieties which consisted of 19 cultivars for beancurd and soypaste, 8 cultivars for soy-sprout including 1 landrace, and 3 cultivars for cooking with rice including 1 landrace during the period 2014-2015. The weather conditions during the experimental period were quite different with extremely low precipitation and longer sunshine duration in 2015 than 2014. The variation of characteristics related to growth period such as days of growth, days of maturity, days of flowering and the 100-seed weight was less in spite of different environmental conditions. While the variation of the number of pods per plant was high. Considering growth and seed characteristics like the number of pods per plant, the number of seeds per pod and 100-seed weight which are linked directly to the yield, cultivars such as Shingi, Daewonkong, Danbaegkong, and Daepung for beancurd and soypaste, Pungwon, Haepum and Shingang for soy-sprout and Seoritae for cooking with rice were more stable and could be expected to have high yield in Suwon, the south-central part of South Korea. These results could be useful for the selection of breeding resources to develop cultivars with high stability under changeable weather condition.

  • This study was attempted to standardize preparation methods of Korean foods; Pibimbab (mixed rice) and Kongnamul Pibimbab (sprout mixed rice with soybean). We followed cooking method by using cookbooks, food service operation recipes , materials distributed by commercial food restaurants from their own experimental kitchens, and home recipes. Before those recipes were standardized, we thoroughly analyzed and modified. The total yield and portions were determined together with weights and procedures. And we evaluated food made by standardized recipes for acceptability by taste panels from Sookmyung Women's University. It concluded that yield volume for Pibimbab and Kongnamul Pibimbab after cooking for 10 persons was 6.5 kg, optimum service temperature was 7$0^{\circ}C$, preparation time was 6 hours, service volumes by one person was 650 g. This presentation for above on food materials and material weights, preparation methodsas well as cautions and references are attached in this research paper.

Light Quality during Seed Imbibition Affects Germination and Sprout Growth of Soybean

  • Soybean seeds were treated with blue, red and far-red lights for 0, 6, 12, and 24 hours during 24-hour imbibition before culture for 6 days. The soybean sprouts raised were classified by their hypocotyl lengths; normal (>4cm), abnormal (<4cm) and non-germination, and their lateral roots, hypocotyl diameters and component dry weights were measured. Red light treatment and dark imbibition reduced the abnormal soybean sprouts more than far-red and blue light treatments, meaning that the former treatments produced more commercial sprouts. The lateral roots were more formed in blue light and dark imbibition than the other light treatments, but were completely blocked by any light treatment lasted during the whole imbibition. Although any light quality treatment did not influence their primary root lengths, blue light one lengthened the hypocotyl more than the others treated during the imbibition, and far-red light enlarged its diameter. Despite this morphological change, component, total or economic yield was not significantly different among the light quality treatments during the imbibition.

Effect of Delayed Sowing on Growth, Flowering Date, and Yield in Sesame

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the decreased ratio of growth and yield by delayed seeding and flowering because drought of spring season often cause to delay seeding and sprout emergence. Equation of linear regression, y=-11.914x+818.61 ($R^2$=0.916) and y=-16.96lx+913.98 ($R^2$=-0.885) were derived from relationship between sowing date and yield of leading variety, Yangbaeckkae in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Yield was decreased by 7, 24, 40, 57, 74%, respectively, according as sowing date was delayed more 5, 15, 26, 36, 46 days than May 15, standard sowing date under the culture mulched with black P.E. film. Number of capsules per plant and length of stem bearing capsule were greatly decreased, while plant height, stem diameter, and day to flowering were affected little by delayed seeding date. Equation of linear regression, y=-0.7081x+41.04 ($R^2$=0.861) was derived from relationship between flowering date and yield of 33 accessions. Yield was decreased by 7.7, 8.3, 9.2, 10.1, 11.2%, respectively, according as flowering date was delayed more 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days than July 3, normal flowering date of Yangbaeckkae when it was sown on May 15, and the more flowering date was delayed, the more yield was decreased. Number of capsules per plant and length of stem bearing capsules were greatly decreased, but plant height and harvest index were decreased little by delay of flowering date

전자빔과 감마선 조사된 무순 및 적양배추 종자의 발아 중 미생물학적 및 생리적 품질특성 (Microbiological and Physiological Qualities of Electron-beam and Gamma-ray Irradiated Sprout Seeds(Radish, Red cabbage) during Germination)

  • 다수요 새싹채소 중 무순과 적양배추의 종자를 선택하여 전자선과 감마선(0, 1, 3, 5 kGy)을 처리한 다음 생리적 특성과 발아과정 중 미생물 제어효과를 비교하였다. 무순과 적양배추 종자의 총세균 농도는 각각 5.02와 2.86 log CFU/g 이었으나 3 kGy 이상의 방사선 조사에 의해 $2{\sim}3$ log cycle 정도 감소하였다. 새싹의 재배과정 중 총세균의 농도는 점차 증가하는 경향이었으나, 재배 3일까지는 조사구와 비조사구의 차이가 크게 나타났으나 5일 재배 후에는 비조사구와 조사구 간에 유사한 수준을 보였다. 새싹종자에는 대장균군이 검출되지 않았으나 새싹재배 중 농도가 증가하여 재배 말기에는 $4{\sim}5$ log CFU/g 수준을 나타내었다. 그러나 방사선 조사시료에서는 재배 1일까지는 발견되지 않다가 3일부터는 아주 낮은 농도를, 재배 5일째의 1 kGy 조사 무순은 1 log CFU/g 수준을, 적양배추는 2 log CFU/g 수준을 각각 보이면서 시료에 따른 차이를 나타내었다. 그리고, 3 kGy 이상 조사구에서는 대장균군이 매우 낮은 수준을 보이거나 검출되지 않았다. 방사선 조사는 선원에 관계없이 새싹의 수분함량을 유의적으로 감소시켰으며, 발아율은 1 kGy에서는 7%, 3 kGy에서는 18% 정도 감소되었다. 새싹의 수율은 1 kGy에서는 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 3 kGy이상의 조사선량에서 약 $10{sim}50%$ 감소하였으며 길이 변화 또한 새싹의 수율과 유사한 경향을 나타내어 선량이 높을수록 감소하였다. 양배추 새싹의 수율과 길이는 감마선에 비해 전자선 조사(1, 3 kGy) 시료에서 양호하게 나타났다.

의이엽 (薏苡葉)의 Sprague-Dawley 랫드를 이용한 단회경구투여 독성시험 (Single Oral Dose Toxicity Test of Coix lacryma-jobi var. ma-yuen Stapf Sprout in Sprague-Dawley Rats)

  • Objectives : 'Johyun' yulmoo which is a new variety of Coix lacryma-jobi var. ma-yuen Stapf sprout was developed and registered by Rural development administration in 2004. This variety was derived from the cross between single cross of Suwon-6 and Okayama and UCN300-25 as F1. It is characterized by early maturity, short plant height, a strong resistance, and a superior yield and is suitable for the central and northern regions. Accordingly, we were performed and evaluated single oral dose toxicity test of 'Johyun' yulmoo sprout (JYS) in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods : Single oral dose toxicity test was performed using with male and female rats. Rats were divided into two groups: Group 1, vehicle-treated rats (Control); Group 2, JYS 5000 mg/kg-treated rats. JYS was orally administered to male and female rats at dose levels of 5000 mg/kg. Animals were monitored on the mortality, clinical signs, body weight changes, and necropsy findings for 14 days. groups : Group 1, vehicle-treated rats (Control); Group 2, JYS 5000 mg/kg-treated rats. Results : After oral treatment of JYS, we could not find any mortality at 5000 mg/kg. Compared with the control group, there were also no significant differences in clinical sign, weight changes, weight gain, and gross abnormalities in JYS 5000 mg/kg-treated group. Conclusions : Taken together, these results suggest that approximate lethal dose of JYS was considered as over 5000 mg/kg. Results from this study provide scientific evidence for the safety of JYS. Moreover, this study could be used as a basis for dose-setting data of the repeated dose 13-week oral toxicity test of JYS.

원료곡 처리조건에 따른 동부나물 생산량과 생장반응 (The Yield and Growth Responses of Cowpea Sprouts According to the Treatment Conditions of Raw Seeds)

  • 원료곡인 동부의 침종, 포화, 노화 조건이 동부나물 생산량과 생장반응에 미치는 영향을 검토한 결과, 흡수량은 침종 초기 2시간까지는 급속히 증가하다 이후에는 완만히 증가하였으나, 발아력과 나물 생산수율 및 잔뿌리 발생량은 침종기간(1~6시간)이 길어질수록 낮았다. 5일간 포화(수분 $96{\pm}1%$, $20^{\circ}C$)처리가 무처리나 1, 3일간 포화처리에 비해 발아력과 나물 생산수율 및 잔뿌리 발생량이 높았다. 고온 노화처리에 따른 발아력과 나물 생산수율은 무처리에 비해 낮았는데, 이상의 결과로 동부나물 재배를 위한 원료곡 전처리 방법은 5일간 포화(수분 $96{\pm}1%$, $20^{\circ}C$)처리하고 세척하여 재배하는 것이 좋은 것으로 판단된다.

광 조건에 따른 동부나물 생육특성 및 영양성분 변화 (Growth Characteristics and Nutrient Content of Cowpea Sprouts Based on Light Conditions)

  • 본 연구는 동부나물을 재배할 때 광질과 광량에 따른 생산수율과 품질 등에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 수행하였다. 1. 처리한 모든 광질에서 무처리(암)에 비해 동부나물의 생산수율이 낮았으나 경실비율은 비슷하였고, 상배축과 뿌리 생장을 촉진시키는 반면 하배축 생장을 억제하는 경향이었다. 2. 백색광(458 nm) 처리가 동부나물의 상배축과 하배축의 명도 및 하배축의 황색도를 증가시켰다. 3. 동부나물의 Fe 함량은 적색광(632 nm)에서 많았고, 총아미노산 함량은 황색광(560 nm), 백색광 및 청색광(460 nm)이 무처리(암)보다 많은 경향이었다. 4. 황색광에서 광량이 낮을 때 동부나물의 생산수율이 낮았고, 기타 광질은 광량에 따른 차이가 없었다. 5. 황색광과 적색광은 광량이 낮을 때 명도와 황색도가 높았고 적색도가 낮았다. 6. 처리 광질의 광량에 따른 일반성분과 무기성분 함량은 차이가 없으나, 적색광에서는 광량이 높을 때 Fe 함량이 많았다. 총아미노산 함량은 백색광과 청색광에서 광량이 높을 때 미미하게 많았다.

녹두나물 재배온도에 따른 페놀화합물 함량과 DPPH, ADH 및 ALDH 활성 (Phenolic Compounds Content and DPPH, ADH, ALDH Activities of Mungbean Sprout Based on Growth Temperature)

  • 본 연구는 녹두나물 재배온도($15{\sim}30{\pm}1^{\circ}C$)에 따른 나물의 생육과 수율, 페놀화합물 함량, DPPH와 ADH 및 ALDH활성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 1. 녹두나물 재배온도가 높을수록 나물 생산수율은 높고, 경실비율은 낮았으나 $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$$30{\pm}1^{\circ}C$는 큰 차이가 없었다. 2. 녹두나물의 ethanol 추출물의 총페놀 함량은 재배온도 $15{\pm}1$, $20{\pm}1$, $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, 총플라보노이드 함량은 재배온도 $15{\pm}1$, $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$에서 많았다. 3. 녹두나물 ethanol 추출물의 DPPH 라디칼 소거활성은 재배온도가 낮을수록 높았고, ADH와 ALDH활성은 재배온도 간 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았다. 4. 이상의 녹두나물 생산수율, 페놀화합물 함량, 생리활성 등을 고려해볼 때 녹두나물 재배 최적온도는 $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$로 보아진다.

양액 처리에 따른 수경재배 새싹보리 수량과 폴리페놀 및 무기질 함량 비교분석 (Comparative analysis of hydroponically cultivated barley sprouts yield, polyphenol and mineral content by nutrient solution treatment)

  • 본 연구는 생육 기간에 따른 새싹보리 식물체의 길이, 무게 및 클로로필 함량 분석과 수확량을 통해 양액 처리에 따른 재배 효율성을 평가하고, 생산된 새싹보리의 무기성분 분석과 용매별 추출물의 총 폴리페놀 및 총플라보노이드 함량과 HPLC를 이용한 기능성 물질 분석을 통해 새싹보리의 산업적 이용 가능성을 높이고자 하였다. 새싹보리의 생육에서 무처리구보다 양액 처리구에서 생육속도가 빨랐으며 특히 지상부 길이가 크게 신장하였다. 지상부 길이가 더 증가한 만큼 생체중 또한 증가하였지만 수분 흡수량의 차이보다는 건물중의 증가로 이어졌다. 이는 수확량의 차이로 나타났다. 무처리구와 비교하였을 때 양액 처리구에서 생산량이 유의적으로 증가하였다. 클로로필 함량 분석을 통해 생육 9일차에서 광합성을 통한 독립영양 과정을 확인하였고, 생육 3일차와 6일차에서 양액 처리를 통한 무기성분 투입이 초기 생장에 보조적인 효과가 있다고 판단된다. 새싹보리의 폴리페놀 함량 분석 결과 총 폴리페놀 함량은 무처리구에서 높았지만 총플라보노이드 함량과 luteolin 함량은 양액 처리에 의해 증가하였다. 또한 추출 용매를 물로 사용하였을 때 폴리페놀 추출에 효과적이었다. 따라서 새싹보리 수경재배에서 양액의 투입이 높은 폴리페놀을 가진 새싹보리를 생산하고 생산량 증대에도 효과가 있음을 시사한다.
