니켈기 자융성 합금 코팅의 방식특성에 미치는 후열처리의 영향 (Effect of Fusing Treatment on Anti-Corrosion Characteristics of Ni-based Self-flux Alloy Coating)

  • This study aims at investigating the effect of a fusing treatments on anti-corrosion characteristics of Ni-based self-flux alloy coating. Ni-based coatings were fabricated by flame spray process on steel substrates, and fusing treatments were performed using a vacuum furnace at $800^{\circ}C$ $900^{\circ}C$, $1000^{\circ}C$ and $1100^{\circ}C$. After fusing treatments, corrosion tests were carried out using potentiostat/galvanostat at solution with pH 2 and pH 6. Corrosion potential(Ecorr) and corrosion current density(Icorr) could be analyzed from polarization curve. Fusing-treated coating at $1100^{\circ}C$ showed more favorable anti-corrosion characteristics than as-sprayed coating. Anticorrosive effect of fusing-treated coating at solution with pH 2 was relatively greater than at solution with pH 6. Fusing-treated coating at $1100^{\circ}C$ showed the most excellent anti-corrosion characteristics.

  • The corrosion of steel rebar embedded in the coastal areas is corroding once the chloride ions ingress through the pores of the concrete. Therefore, in the present study, a 100 ㎛ thick Al and Zn coating was deposited by an arc thermal spray process onto the steel. The corrosion studies of these deposited coatings were assessed in 3.5 wt.% NaCl contaminated concrete pore (CP) solution with immersion periods. The results show that the Al coating is more corrosion resistance compared to the Zn coating attributed to the formation of gibbsite (γ-Al(OH)3) whereas Zn coating exhibits Zn(OH)2 onto the coating surface as passive layer. The Zn(OH)2 is readily soluble in an alkaline solution. Alternatively, γ-Al(OH)3 on the Al coating surface is less solubility in the alkaline pH, which further provides barrier protection against corrosion.

  • This paper reports the wear characteristics of two types of coating materials, which are $Cr_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$, by coated plasma thermal spray method. The wear test was carried out under air, grease, and bearing fluid conditions. The wear testing machine of a pin-on disk type were used to measure friction forces, friction coefficients and the weight losses of the coating specimens on the various sliding velocity and loading condition. The wear surface of specimens were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs.

  • This paper describes process optimization for thermal-sprayed Co-based self-flux alloy coating by Taguchi method. Co-based self-flux alloy coatings were fabricated according to $L_9(3^4)$ orthogonal array using flame spray process. Hardness test and wear test were performed, the results were analyzed by analysis of variance(ANOVA) considering a multi response signal to noise ratio(MRSN). From the results of ANOVA, the optimal combination of the flame spray parameters on Co-based self-flux alloy coating could be predicted. The calculated hardness and wear rate of the coatings by ANOVA were found to be close to that of confirmation experimental result.

  • In this study, bond strength tests were performed for the thermal barrier coating applied to the 1st stage turbine blade. After the tests, the specimens were cut and the locations of failure were observed by using optical microscope. The influence of heat treatment on bond strength of a bond coating and the difference among the three types of bond coatings are treated.

Effect of Fluoride Conversion Coating on the Corrosion Resistance and Adhesion of E-painted AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

  • This article reports improved corrosion resistance and adhesion of electro-paint (E-paint) with fluoride conversion coating (FCC) on AZ31 Mg alloy for the first time. These improvements were observed in comparison to chemically polished samples with no chemical conversion coating and samples with cerium conversion coatings (CeCC). FCCs were prepared in a hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution for four different times; 10, 30, 60, and 120 s. The colour of the samples changed from light gold to brown with increasing immersion time, indicating the formation of thicker FCC coatings with increasing immersion time. The adhesion of the E-paint on FCC-coated AZ31 Mg alloy was tested after 500 h of immersion in deionized (DI) water. Salt spray test (SST) results revealed delamination of E-paint on the chemically polished sample, severe blistering on the samples with CeCC, but no delamination and no blistering on the samples with FCC.

  • The vacuum plasma coating was performed to analysis the characteristic and find the optimum process conditions for the vacuum plasma spray coating. It was observed that the square shape of powder in case of carbide ceramics does not fluidize well compared to the round shape of powder in case of oxide ceramics so that the plasma spraying is not uniform. The analysis through SEM and EDS mapping shows that the coatings represent excellent structural features with strong resistance against oxidation and satisfied result with vacuum plasma coating.

  • In this study, bronze or SUS304 powders blended with 10 wt.% diamond particles were used to prepare metal/diamond composite materials deposited by cold spraying. The effects of matrix metal, diamond partical size, and the thickness of the Ni coating on the diamond were studied on Al 6061 substrate. The results showed that the hardness of the metal/diamond composite coating layers was higher than that of the same composite materials when using the sintering method. The fraction of diamond content in the coated layer increased when the metal matrix was soft. When the size of the diamond particles was reduced, the fraction of the diamond particles increased. In addition, in the case of diamond with a thicker Ni-coated layer, the fracturing of diamonds was mitigated in the composite coating layers.

  • Arc thermal spray process is widely used to protect the steel from corrosion and abrasion. In the present study, two different coatings i.e. Al and Al-5%Mg were used to compare their corrosion resistance performance and the effect of 5% Mg addition in the properties of deposited coating. The SEM results showed the more compact and less porous morphology of Al-5%Mg coating compared to Al. The corrosion resistance performance of both deposited coatings was studied in artificial ocean water with exposure periods and results are compared. The total impedance values of Al-5%Mg at 0.01 Hz exhibited highest with exposure periods might be attributed to the coating and corrosion products nature and morphology compared to Al coating.

  • C/C Composite는 비교적 낮은 온도에서 산화되어 고유의 특성을 쉽게 잃어버리게 된다. 본 연구에서는 Plasma Spray 코팅방법을 사용하여 다층 코팅층을 형성 시킨 후 $1600^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 열충격 저항성을 평가하였다.
