직분식 엔진에서 실린더 내 연료의 액.기상 거동에 미치는 텀블과 스월의 영향 (The Effects of Tumble and Swirl Flow on the Behavior of Liquid/Vapor Phases in a DI Gasoline Engine)

  • This present study experimentally investigates the behavior of liquid and vapor phase of fuel mixtures with changing the in-cylinder air motion in an optically accessible engine. The conventional MPI/DOHC engine was modified to gasoline direct injection engine with swirl motion. The images of liquid and vapor phases were captured in the motoring operation condition using exciplex fluorescence method. Two dimensional spray fluorescence images of liquid and vapor phases were acquired to analyze spray behaviors and fuel distribution inside of cylinder respectively, In early injection timings $(BTDC\;270^{\circ},\;180^{\circ})$, tumble flow transported most of vapor phase to the lower region and the both sides of cylinder, so vapor phase didn't become uniform distribution up to the half of the compression stroke. In the case of swirl flow, the fuel mixture was confined near the swirl origin in upper region of cylinder. In late injection timings $(BTDC\;90^{\circ})$, tumble flow transported vapor phase to the intake valve and swirl flow to the exhaust valve.

Compressive behavior of circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns under atmospheric corrosion

  • This paper aims to study the compressive behavior of circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns under simulated marine atmospheric corrosion. The specimens after salt spray corrosion were tested under axial compressive load. Steel grade and corrosion level were mainly considered in the study. The mechanical behavior of circular CFST specimens is compared with that of the corresponding hollow ones. Design methods for circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns are modified to consider the effect of marine atmospheric corrosion. The results show that linear fitting curves could be used to present the relationship between corrosion rate and the mechanical properties of steel after simulated marine atmospheric corrosion. The ultimate strength of hollow steel tubular and CFST columns decrease with the increase of corrosion rate while the ultimate displacement of those are hardly affected by corrosion rate. Increasing corrosion rate would change the failure of CFST stub column from ductile failure to brittle failure. Corrosion rate would decrease the ductility indexes of CFST columns, rather than those of hollow steel tubular columns. The confinement factor ${\xi}$ of CFST columns decreases with the increase of corrosion rate while the ratio between test value and nominal value shows an opposite trend. With considering marine atmospheric corrosion, the predicted axial strength of hollow steel tubular and CFST columns by Chinese standard agree well with the tested values while the predictions by Japanese standard seem conservative.

배연탈황설비 흡수탑 내 연소가스 및 슬러리의 거동에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis on the Flue Gas Flow and Slurry Behavior in the Absorber of a Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) System)

  • Numerical analysis had been performed to understand flow characteristics of the flue gas and slurry in the absorber of a flue gas desulphurization (FGD) system using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique. Two-fluid(Euler-Lagrangian) model had been employed to simulate physical phenomenon, which slurry particles injected through slurry spray nozzles fall down and bump into the flue gas inflowing through inlet duct. It was not necessary to adopt pre-defined pressure drop inside the absorber because interaction between flue gas and slurry particles was considered. Hundreds of slurry spray nozzles were considered with the spray velocity at the nozzles, swirl velocity and spreading angle. The results note that the flow disturbance of flue gas is found at the bottom of the absorber, and the current rising with high speed stream is observed in the opposite region of the inflow duct. The high speed stream is reduced as the flue gas goes up, because the high speed stream of flue gas dumps falling slurry particles due to momentum exchange between flue gas and slurry particles. In spite of some disproportion in slurry distribution inside the absorber, escape of slurry particles from the absorber facility is not observed. The pressure drop inside the absorber is mainly occurred at the bottom section.

농용 무인헬리콥터의 가로균평을 위한 테일부 설계 및 추력 시험 (Tail Rotor Design and Thrust Test for a Roll-balanced Agricultural Unmanned Helicopter)

  • Aerial application using an unmanned agricultural helicopter would allow precise and timely spraying. The attitude of a helicopter depends on a number of dynamic variables for roll-balanced flight. Laterally tilting behavior of a helicopter is a physically intrinsic phenomenon while hovering and forwarding. In order to balance the fuselage, the rotor should be counter-tilted, resulting in the biased down-wash. The biased spraying toward right side causes uneven spray pattern. In this study, a raised tail rotor system for the roll-balanced helicopter was studied. Thrust of the tail rotor system was measured and theoretically estimated for the fundamental database of the roll-balanced helicopter design. The estimated tail thrust and roll-moment would be used to design the raising height of tail rotor and roll balancing dynamics. The unmanned agricultural helicopter required the tail rotor thrust of about 39.2 N (4.0 kgf) during hovering with a payload of 235.4 N (24 kgf). A raised tail rotor system would compensate for the physical tilt phenomena. A further attitude control system of helicopter would assist roll-balanced aerial spray application.

초음파 분무 열분해법에 의한 ZnO 나노구조 성장시 Leidenfrost 효과에 의한 성장 거동 변화 (Growth Mechanism Evolution of ZnO Nanostructures by Leidenfrost Effect in Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis Deposition)

  • We investigated a Leidenfrost effect in the growth of ZnO nanostructures on silicon substrates by ultrasonic-assisted spray pyrolysis deposition(SPD). Structural and optical properties of the ZnO nanostructures grown by varying the growth parameters, such as substrate temperature, source concentration, and suction rate of the mist in the chambers, were investigated using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and photoluminescence spectrum analysis. Structural investigations of the ZnO nanostructures showed abnormal evolution of the morphologies with variation of the substrate temperatures. The shape of the ZnO nanostructures transformed from nanoplate, nanorod, nanopencil, and nanoprism shapes with increasing of the substrate temperature from 250 to $450^{\circ}C$; these shapes were significantly different from those seen for the conventional growth mechanisms in SPD. The observed growth behavior showed that a Leidenfrost effect dominantly affected the growth mechanism of the ZnO nanostructures.

용융 55%Al-Zn 중에서 세라믹 용사 피막의 침식 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Erosion Behavior of the Ceramic Sprayed Coating Layer in the Molten 55% Al-Zn)

  • Sink roll has been used in molten 55%Al-Zn alloy bath of continuous galvanizing line for sinking and stabilizing working steel strip in molten metal bath. In the process, the sink roll body inevitably build up dross compounds and pitting on the sink roll surface during 55%Al-Zn alloy coated strip production, and the life time of the sink roll is shorten by build up dross compounds and pitting. The present study examined the application of thermally sprayed ceramic coatings method on sink roll body for improving erosion resistance at molten 55% Al-Zn pool. In this experiment, the stainless steels such as STS 316L and STS 430F were used as the substrate materials. The CoNiCr and WE-Co powder were selected as bond coating materials. Moreover $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2-SiO_2 and ZrO_2-SiO_2$ powders selected as the top coating materials. Appearances of the specimens before and after dipping to molten 55%Al-Zn pool were compared and analyzed. As a result of this study, STS430F of substrate, WC-Co of bond spray coatings, $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ power of top spray coatings is the best quality in erosion resistance test at molten 55%Al-Zn pool

  • Zinc confers high corrosion resistance by acting as a sacrificial anode, and a zinc coating improves the appearance of steel. Chromate conversion coating (CCC) films are still one of the most efficient surface treatments for steel. Although such films can self-repair via the dissolution of Cr(VI), dissolved Cr(VI) have adverse effects on humans, and the environment. Therefore, we examined the corrosion protection property and morphology of colloidal silica conversion films as an alternative to CCC films. The corrosion behavior was investigated in 3% NaCl solution using electrochemical techniques, including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, open circuit potential, and the salt spray test(SST). Corrosion was implied by the appearance of red rust on the specimen surface. In corrosion resistance at 3% NaCl solution, red rust appeared at 15-20, 55-70, and 83-98 days on Zn-electroplated steel, colloidal silica conversion-coated specimens, and CCC-coated specimens, respectively. In the salt spray test, the colloidal silica film provided better corrosion protection than CCC films, i.e., red rust appeared at 96 hours on the Zn-electroplated steel sheet, at 432 hours with the CCC films, and at 888 hours with silica conversion coating.

벽면충돌분무에 관한 수치해석 (A Study of Numerical Analysis on Wall Impinging Spray)

  • Phenomenon of droplet impingement with high temperature wall needs to be investigated because atomization process of droplet and cooling process of the wall by the impingement are very important in industry, thus studies concerned with temperature of piston wall have been conducted in spray characteristics analysis of diesel engine. Hence, in this study, we defined $DT_{sat}(=T_w-T_{sat})$ superheat degree of the wall by difference between $T_w$ considering surface temperature of piston in the actual engine and $T_{sat}$ saturation temperature of the fuel and then investigated spray behavior of wall impinging with variance of the boiling process. In this study, in order to analyze wall impingement of droplet in accordance with difference of boiling condition, calculational conditions were set as $DT_{sat}=40K$(nucleate boiling), $DT_{sat}=140K$(transition boiling), and $DT_{sat}=240K$(film boiling). As a result, it can be found that fuel vapor increases and droplet mass decreases in the order of the nucleate boiling, transition boiling, and film boiling.

Accelerated and Outdoor Exposure Tests of Aluminum Coated Steel Sheets

  • Hot dip metallic coated steels like as galvanized (GI), zinc-aluminium (GL) and aluminium coated steels are mostly used where corrosion resistance is needed. There are two kinds (type 1 and type 2) of aluminium coated steel being commercially used among them. Type 1 aluminium coated steel is coated with an Al-5~11 wt%Si alloy and Type 2 aluminium coated steel consists of commercially pure aluminium. Type 1 Al coated steel is generally used in automotive components and electrical appliances while type 2 aluminium coated steel is mainly used in construction applications such as building cladding panels, air conditioning and ventilation system. In this study, Type 1 aluminium coated steels have tested by accelerated conditions (salt spray or corrosive gas) and outdoor exposure condition in order to understand their corrosion behaviour. Due to the distinct corrosion mechanism of Al which exposes to the severe chloric condition, Salt Spray Test cannot predict the ordinary atmospheric corrosion of Al based coated materials. In addition, the test results and their corrosion feature of Al coated steel sheets will be discussed comparing with other metallic coated steel sheets of GI and GL.

다성분 혼합연료를 이용한 디젤 분무 및 연소특성의 광계측 진단 (Laser Diagnostics of Spray and Combustion Characteristics Using Multi-Component Mixed Fuels in a D.I. Diesel Engine)

  • This study was to analyze the effect of mixed fuel composition and mass fraction on the characteristics of evaporating diesel spray and combustion under the various ambient conditions. The characteristics of vaporization distribution and combustion were visualized by laser induced fluorescent method and direct photography. The experiments were conducted in the constant volume vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with optical access. Multi-component fuels mixed i-octane, n-dodecane and n-hexadecane were injected the vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with electronically controlled common rail injector. Experimental results show that fuel vapor formed stratified distribution. And vaporization and diffusion are become actively increasing in mass fraction of low boiling point component. Consequently multi-component fuels were expected to control the evaporating behavior according to their suitable mass fraction.
