The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences of male college students through sport toto gambling and to provide basic data on the prevention program for male college gambling addicts. Participants in the study were eight male college students who were interviewed in depth and analyzed according to Colaizzi's phenomenological study method. As a result of this study, four categories of experiences were derived as follows: Like the wind that rushes to the sea, Tears of remorse, A locked down life and On a dream day. Research shows that sports toto is easy to access and has a lot of interesting factors, however it has been found out that male college students have a great risk of falling into addiction aiming to win at once like ordinary gamblers. Therefore, this study suggests that gambling preventive education and counseling are necessary for male college students who like sports.

As the sales of the Sports Toto, the Korean lottery on sports games, have increased significantly in recent five years, interest in predicting the various results of sports matches has also been raised. Dixon and Coles (1997) proposed a bivariate Poisson model to predict the results of English soccer league matches. In this paper, we pay attention to the physical condition of players that may affect soccer match results and revise Dixon and Coles' model to consider probable fatigue due to the players' short rest followed by their frequent matches. We observed the fatigue effect in the match results, and found positive betting returns available when using our prediction model. Furthermore, the validity of probability-based odds in European and Korean betting markets is analyzed.

Since online betting occurs on online where anybody can access through internet, thus, the online gambling market has been expanding. Domestic illegal gambling market size is 4 times bigger than that of legal gambling market, and illegal online betting market is rapidly growing as well. Currently online gambling does exist domestically in form of Sports promotion voting rights, also known as, Toto and Proto and internet lottery. However, the need for other types of online gambling to be permitted, expanded and managed has been suggested. This research has analyzed online gambling users, online gambling addicts and general population's awareness on expansion and operation of online gambling, contraction measures of illegal online gambling and operation measures in case of permitted expansion of online gambling. The result of this research's analysis showed that each group has significantly different awareness level on positive and negative effects of permitting online gambling's expansion. Also, it showed that each group has significantly different awareness on permitting expansion of racing betting as a legal gambling item. Since it is the proven fact that illegal online gambling users could turn into legal users and that users could use the service more positively if online gambling is legalized through allowance and expansion process; one could expect the positive effects from permitting expansion of online gambling.
