  • Background: Skin defects of head and neck need reconstruction using various local flaps. In some cases, surgeons should consider skin graft for large skin defect. It is important to heal skin graft and donor sites. The authors investigated wound healing mechanisms at the donor sites with split-thick-ness skin graft (STSG). In this study, the authors compared two types of immediate regraft including sheets and islands for the donor site after facial skin graft using remnant skin. Methods: The author reviewed 10 patients who underwent STSG, from March 2015 to May 2017, for skin defects in the craniofacial area. The donor site was immediately covered with the two types using remnant skin after harvesting skin onto the recipient site. Depending on the size of the remnant skin, we conducted regraft with the single sheet (n= 5) and island types (n= 5). Results: On postoperative day 1 and 3 months, the scar formation was evaluated using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) and Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS). Total POSAS and VSS scores for the island type were lower than in single sheet group after 3 months postoperatively. There was significant difference in specific categories of POSAS and VSS. Conclusion: This study showed a reduction in scar formation following immediate regrafting of the remnant skin at the donor site after STSG surgery. Particularly, the island type is useful for clinical application to facilitate healing of donor sites with STSG.

  • In this paper, we propose the architecture and user interaction mechanism to implement N-Screen services on Multi-Vision System (MVS) that are not supported in existing systems. N-Screen services enable users to control the MVS displays through any of their devices and share contents among MVS displays and user's active-devices with service continuation at any location. We provide N-Screen interactive services on MVS by introducing N-Screen interaction & session management server and agent. Furthermore, we present some examples of the protocols such as application launching, user interaction for service control and visualcasting to support N-Screen services. In addition, we explain the N-Screen service scenarios for providing split sessions on user's active-devices and launching metadata content on any of his devices at any location supported by these protocols. The simulation result demonstrates the feasibility and performance improvement of the proposed visualcasting mechanisms.

  • This experiment was conducted to establish the optimum nitrogen application level for oriental melon at Seong-ju Fruit Vegetable Experiment Station with a fertigation system. Four different levels of nitrogen fertigation were applied to oriental melon and growth of the plant was analyzed. Plant samples were collected 8 times and were analyzed by the standard methods. The first fertigation was applied at 10 days after transplanting for the oriental melon based on the growth rates of the plants. For oriental melon, 10 day interval fertigation and 8 time split application of fertilizer could be recommended. The amounts of N, P, and K fertilizer recommended by soil testing was 249-408-315 (kg $ha^{-1}$). Treatment levels were 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 times of soil testing nitrogen with P and K level fixed. The total nitrogen (T-N) content in dried leaf showed a tendency to increase until 30 days after transplanting, then decreased. T-N content increased with increasing nitrogen fertigation rates. T-N content in dried fruit decreased slightly during the whole growing season. Fresh weight and nitrogen uptake were increased with increasing nitrogen fertigation rates. Total yield and marketable yield, 44,550 kg $ha^{-1}$ and 42,880 kg $ha^{-1}$, were maximized at 0.5 times of soil test nitrogen. Ratio of marketable fruit, 95%, was the highest at 0.5 times of soil test nitrogen. The optimum level of nitrogen for fertigation system was 0.5 times soil test nitrogen judging from total yield, commodity yield and commodity fruit.

  • For the investigation of efficient use of fertilizer nitrogen NPK simple trials were carried out using newly bred Tongil line(japonica indica hybrid selection) and the leading local varieties with sulfur coated area in fields for two years. The yield of Tongil line was higher than that of leading local varieties by 16% in the cool year and 23% is warm year with high solar radiation from NPK simple trials including SCU and 2-split application which were carried in 130 fields at 32 locations. Warm year increased yield by 9% in Tongil but only 3% in the local than the cool year did. Optimum nitrogen level was higher in Tongil by 3.8㎏ in the cool year and 5.5㎏ in warm year than for the local. Yearly variation of optimum nitrogen in the carne variety was greater than varietal variation in the same Year. Two-split application resulted in 1 to 2% of inconsistent yield variation. Sulfur coated urea increased yield by average 2 to 4% even at 20% reduced rate of nitrogen. It was remarkably effective in same $(27{\sim}39%)$, virgin (20%) and unmatured (10%) soils.

  • From ^{15}N$ labelled nitrogen experiments on 13 fields use efficiency by difference method was higher than that by labelling method in 80% of fields tested indicating augmentation of soil nitrogen uptake by fertilizer nitrogen. Both methods showed very similar trend among fields. Sulfur coated urea(SCU) and point application increased fertilization efficiency(yield increment per fertilizer nitrogen applied, Fe) to 23 from 15 of split application through the increase of fertilizer use efficiency from 29(Eu) to 50 but tended to decrease efficiency of absorbed fertilizer nitrogen(yield increment per nitrogen derived from fertilizer, Ef) from 50. to 46 High yielding capacity of Tongil line appears to be attributed to the higher Ef, translocation efficiency and soil nitrogen preference index(soil nitrogen increment in plant per the increment of fertilizer nitrogen in plant, PI). This studies confirmed that yield under fertilizer application system depends on Fe which is the multiplication of Eu and Ef and that the improvement of fertilizer management(form, application method and time) increases principally Eu, the limit of which is controlled by Ef that is attributed mainly to varietal characteristics.

  • To establish the recycling system of animal manure(AM) for environmental preservation and improve the utilization of AM, this study was to investigate the effects of the types and nitrogen application rate of AM on herbage productivity, efficiency of nitrogen utilization, nutritive value and an increase of soil fertility and in mixed grassland. This sudy was arranged in split plot design. Main plots were the types of AM(Cattle feedlot manure, CFM; Pig manure fermented with sawdust, PMFS; cattle sluny, CS) and subplots were the application rate of animal manure, such as 100, 200 and 300kgNiha. I. DM yields of herbage were the highest with CS and decreased by application over ZOOkgNiha AM. 2. Crude protein(CP) ontent was the highest with CFM and followed by CS, and the lowest with PMFS, and increased as application rate of AM increased. 3. Nitrogen(N) yields of CS treatment was higher than that of CFM and CS. and increased significantly as application rate of AM increased(P<0.05). 4. The contents of NDF, ADF and TDN was hardly influenced by the types and application rate of AM. 5. Organic matter(0M) content in the soil was the highest with PMFS and followed by CFM and the lowest with CS. OM content increased significantly as application rate of AM increased(P<0.05). 6. Total nitrogen content of the soil was not affected by the type of AM, but increased significantly as application rate of AM increased(P<0.05). • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the types and rates of application of animal manure on productivity of silage corn and environmental pollution in silage corn cultivation soil. The experiment was confirmed in lysimeter which was constructed with 0.30m diameter, and 1 m depth. This study was arranged in split plot design. Main plots were the types of cattle slurry (CS), swine manure fermented with sawdust (SMFS) and chemical fertilizer (CF), Subplots were the application rates of animal manure, as urea, such as 100, 200 and 400 kg N $ha^{-1}$. Dry matter(DM) and nitrogen yields of silage corn enhanced as increased application rates of CS, SMFS and CF (p<0.05). DM yield reveals that there is an decrease in order of CF>CS>SMFS (p<0.05). Crude protein (CP) contents of the whole silage corn increased as increased application rates of CS, SMFS and CF. IN addition, $NO_{3^-}N$ content in leaching water by application of animal manure reveals that there is an decrease in order SMFS>CF>CS (p<0.05). However, $NH_{4^-}N$ content was hardly influenced by application of animal manure, and $NH_{4^-}N$ content increased with application rates increased. $PO_{4^-}P$ content in leaching water by application of animal manure reveals that there is an decrease in order of SMFS>CF>CS. $PO_{4^-}P$ increased as increasing application rates (p<0.05), whereas $PO_{4^-}P$ in leaching water maintained a low levels.

  • Titania has become the most applicable material for photocatalytic application. Nevertheless, titania has the weak point in its wide band gap energy that is mainly activated by UV irradiation. There have been vast research challenges in order to make the wide band gap energy of titania narrow that could be activated in the presence of visible light. Various modifications of titania surface were popular because titania needs to change its surface to respond in visible light. Among the methodological approaches, N-doping to titania can be the alternative candidate because it is facile process and eco-friendly. The activated electron from valence band in N-doped $TiO_2$ migrates to conduction band in the presence of visible light irradiation, which shows photocatalytic activity as well. In this study, focused on the evaluation of nitrogen state after N-doping through brief review. Arguments are still existed in nitrogen states and their different effects on photocatalytic activity. In particular, two nitrogen states are generally reported; substitutional and interstitial states. The research articles regarding N-doped $TiO_2$ are continuously appearing because the potential application of water split in visible light is still fascinate. The future of N-doped $TiO_2$ is also presented by referrals based on various literature.

  • It is very important to improve fertilizer use efficiency for the saving of fertilizers and for environmental purposes as well. However, there was no effective ways for the fertilization in the mid of growth under the plastic film mulching cultivation so far. For this, a Band Spotty Fertilization (BSF) machine was developed recently. So, we tried to establish a low input fertilization technique using this BSF machine in the vinyl mulching cultivation of onion (Allium cepa L.). Fertilization efficiency, soil properties, and crop yield were examined and compared among treatments from 2000 to 2001. The content of exchangeable K in soils were higher after fertilization but that of available $P_2O_5$ was lower than before the experiment in all plots. The content of nitrate-N was highest at the early growth stage, and higher in BSF plots than that of conventional fertilization (CF). BSF plot showed higher growth rate, and uptake amount of nitrogen of onion by 59-69% than that of CF. N use efficiency in BSF was higher in the order of two time-split application, one time-split application, and three time application. K use efficiency was high 13-17% BSF plots than that in CF($63kg\;ha^{-1}$) plots. The amount of residual N in soils was high by 8-14% in BSF plots compared to that in CF plots, and the loss of N was lowered 26-34% by BSF. Also, the amount of residual K in soils was high by 13-18% and the loss of K was low by 29-31% in BSF plots compared to that in CF plots. The yield of onions increased by 7-13% by BSF due to increased diameter and weight of bulbs. As the results, N fertilization efficiency increased by 22-42% by BSF.

  • This experiment was carried out to study the effects of Bradyrhizobium moculation and fertilizer N application on symbiotc $N_2$ fixation of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L. cv. Younghotangkong) at newly reclaimed soil. Treatments consisting of B. sp. (Vigna) HCR-3 and HCR-46 with control and five levels of nitrogen (0, 4, 8, 16, 32kg/10a) were arranged with split design of four repetitions. The results obtained were as follows. The number of viable Bradyrhizobium in rhizosphere was decreased to 20 days after sowing and thereafter it was remarkably increased, until full ripe stage of pods, decreased as fertilizern rates increased. Nodulation and nitrogenase activity were reduced with increasing levels of fertilizer, whereas top dry matter and nitrogen accumulation where increased. Seed yield of Bradyhizobium inoculation under the fertilizer N zero level was similar to that N : 8kg/10a under uninoculation. It suggested that Bradyrhizobium inoculation could replace the effect of nitrogen application.
