  • Compared to modal split, the methods of forecasting traffic volumes diverted in various types of I.C.s have not been sufficiently studied. The purpose of this study is to derive a new diversion function that can represent the directional traffic volume in accordance with various geometrics of I.C.s. In general, knowing various traffic impedances and the amount of traffic production and attraction, one can estimate proper traffic volumes associated with directions by using a well-defined diversion function. This function is usually made by a series of process such as surveying directional traffic volumes on several I.C.s, analyzing with a regression method and verifying those results by statistical approaches. The function has been developed by rigorous statistical testings, mainly a regression analysis. This paper presents an effective method in planning and designing new roads, I.C.s and route choice of subway. Finally, some comparisons and improvements and suggested when one uses different types of relevant models and functions.

  • This paper compares the fatigue behaviors of concretes subjected to flexural and split-tensional loadings, and proposes the fatigue reliability models based on experimental results and reliability analysis. The fatigue tests were performed for the specimens of $150 mm{\times}75 mm$ split tensional cylinders and $150 mm{\times}150 mm{\times}550 mm$ flexural beams under constant loadings at three levels (70, 80 and $90\%$) with 0.1 stress ratio, 20 Hz loading speed and sine wave. The reliability analysis on fatigue data was based on Weibull distribution of two-parameters. From fatigue test results, two criteria were proposed to reject the experimental fatigue data because of statistical variation of concrete fatigue data. Two parameters ($\alpha$and u) of Weibull distribution were obtained using graphical method, moment method and maximum likelihood method. The probability density function(P.D.F) and cumulative distribution function(C.D.F) of the Weibull distribution for fatigue life of pavement concrete were derived for various stress levels using parameters, $\alpha$ and u. The goodness-of-fit test by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was acceptable at $5\%$ level of significance. Based on reliability analysis, a fatigue model for pavement concrete was proposed and compared from existing models.

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic segmentation method of left and right heart in computed tomography angiography (CTA) using separating energy function. First, we smooth the images by applying anisotropic diffusion filter to remove noise. Then, the volume of interest (VOI) is detected by using k-means clustering. Finally, we extract the left and right heart with separating energy function which we proposed to split the heart. We tested our method in ten CT images and they were obtained from a different patient. For the evaluation of the computational performance of the proposed method, we measured the total processing time. The average of total processing time, from first step to third step, was $14.39{\pm}1.17s$. We expect for our method to be used in cardiac diagnosis for cardiologist.

  • Category Fuz of fuzzy sets has a similar function to the topos Set. But Category Fuz forms a weak topos. We show that supports split weakly(SSW) and with some properties, implicity axiom of choice(IAC) holds in weak topos Fuz. So weak axiom of choice(WAC) holds in weak topos Fuz. Also we show that weak extensionality principle for arrow holds in weak topos Fuz.

  • In this article, new microstrip slow-wave bandpass filters using open loop resonator loaded with inter-digital capacitive fingers is proposed. The filter features not only compact in size, but also exhibits spurious stop-band rejection. Filters of this type with elliptic function and Chebyshev response are demonstrated. There is good agreement between experimental and full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation results.

  • For the production of complicated plastic parts in a cycle, a mold is needed.. The basic tasks of a mold are accommodation and distribution of the resin, shaping and cooling the melt and ejection of the molding. To achieve these goal a mold has several important parts and we classified types of molds. The 6 different major functions of a mold are explained and several types of molds are shown in her. I hope these explanation will help to understand injection molds for a design engineer.

  • In this paper, we propose an unambiguous correlation function for time-multiplexed binary offset carrier (TMBOC) signal tracking. Specifically, considering that the TMBOC modulation transmits two kinds of sine-phased BOC signals in time domain alternatively, we generate sub-correlation functions for each of the BOC signals by using split sine-phased BOC signals, and then, obtain a correlation function with no side-peak by recombining the sub-correlation functions. From numerical results, we confirm that the proposed correlation function offers an improved tracking error standard deviation performance than the TMBOC autocorrelation function.

  • Centric relation is defined the horizontal position between maxilla and mandible when condylar head of mandible is positioned adequately in mandibular fossa. The most recent concept of centric relation position is defined as the mandibular position in which the condyles are in their most superoanterior position in the articular fossa, resting against the posterior slope of the articular eminences, with the articular disk properly interposed. To be suitable as a reference point during occlusal management, a mandibular position of centric relation has to be functionally acceptable to the patient and clinically reproducible and achievable during everyday practice. There are numerous methods for determination of centric relation, and in this study we used three of them, Gothic arch tracing(Group I), leaf gauge(Group II), and anterior jig(Group III). The subjects were 10, 8 men and 2 women, age-ranged from 23 to 26 years old, had no prosthetics in thier mouth, and had no sign and symptom of temporomandibular disorders. We gained three occlusal records using each method, and then the degree of the reproducibility was examined with split cast technique. In this study the reproducibility of centric relation using split cast technique was greater in the order of Group I(mean 1.6), Group II(mean 1.4), and Group III(mean 1.3), but there was no significant differences among them statistically(p>0.05).

  • The management of mandibular prognathism and retrognathism was revoluted by the advent of the technique of bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy(BSSRO) as described by Obwegeser and Trauner in 1957. The BSSRO of the mandible has been used for nearly 50 years and has undergone numerous modifications and improvements. Most patients, treated by this surgical operation, express their satisfaction with improved facial esthetics, masticatory function and others. But several complications associated with BSSRO may appear. Especially among them, facial nerve palsy following BSSRO is rare but serious problem. We treated for facial nerve palsy following BSSRO by physical therapy, steroid therapy and surgical intervention and then the result was favorable. Therefore we would like to report a case about a patient with facial nerve palsy after BSSRO with a review of the literatures.

  • An experiment has been carried out to investigate the aerodynamic effect of surface roughness on the characteristics of the turbulent separation and reattaching flow downstream of a backward-facing step. The distributions of boundary layer parameters, forward-flow fraction and turbulent stresses in the region near the reattachment point are measured with a split film sensor. It is demonstrated that the streamwise distributions of the forward-flow fraction in the recirculation and reattachment regions are similar, independent of the roughness. The reattachment length is found to be only weakly affected by the roughness. It is also shown that the velocity profile on the rough surface approaches to that of the equilibrium turbulent boundary layer faster than that on the smooth surface in the redeveloping region after reattachment.
