Fe2O3−CoO−Cr2O3−MnO2계 안료의 합성 및 유약에서의 발색 (Synthesis of Fe2O3−CoO−Cr2O3−MnO2 Pigments and Coloring in Glazes)

  • Synthesis and characterization of pigments by using $Fe_2O_3,\;CoO,\;Cr_2O_3\;and\;MnO_2$ were undertaken. The resulting pigments were characterized by using XRD, SEM, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The color of glazed tiles containing 6 wt% pigment changed from dark green to black depending on the compositions of used materials. Pigments were calcined with mixed materials at $1350^{\circ}C$, and the dark green and dark brown color were obtained. Pigments were used to determine possible interactions between a pigment and a glaze.

  • High-energy mechanical action applied to solid leads to destruction and diminution to the nanosize level. But on the other hand, it can induce structural changes at the nanoscale and at the atomic level which can result in novel materials properties. In this contribution, case studies will be presented concerned with the tailoring of magnetic properties of mechanically treated nanomaterials. Emphasis is placed on materials that have been synthesized by mechanochemical means and on an improved understanding of their nanomagnetism in general. The associated local structural changes of the iron containing magnetic materials discussed in the examples have been studied most suitably by $^{57}Fe$ Mossbauer nuclear probe spectroscopy whose results are supplemented by measurements of the magnetic properties of the mechanosynthesized nanomaterials.

  • Mn-Ni-Co계 스피넬을 모재로 선택하여 상업용 페라이트 등 다양한 종류의 Fe-스피넬과 동시 소결 가능성을 검토할 목적으로 각 소재의 소결 거동, 서미스터와의 계면 반응이나, 2차상의 형성 등에 대해 알아보았다. 대부분의 페라이트 조성이 Mn 스피넬과 새로운 2차상을 형성하지는 않는 것을 알 수 있었다. 상업용 페라이트의 경우 115$0^{\circ}C$ 소결 온도에서 접합이 가능한 조성은 다량의 액상이 존재하며 접합계면의 폭이 상대적으로 넓으므로 서미스터 특성에도 좋지 않은 영향을 줄 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 반면에 MFN1과 MFN2 조성은 접합계면에서 새로운 2차상이 형성되지 않고 원소의 상호확산도 작아 NTC 서미스터의 동시소결용 보호재로서의 가능성이 높은 것으로 확인되었다.

HVOF 용사된 NiCoCrAlY 코팅의 산호막 관찰 (Microstructural Observation of Scales formed on HVOF-sprayed NiCoCrAlY Coatings)

  • High velocity oxy-fuel sprayed NiCoCrAlY coatings were oxidized between 1000 and $1200^{\circ}C$ in air, and the oxide scales were examined by XRD, SEM/EDS, and EPMA. The unoxidized coatings consisted mainly of ${\gamma}$'$-Ni_3$Al, with some ${\gamma}$-Ni. The major oxide formed on the coatings was $\alpha$ $-Al_2$$O_3$. Additionally, (CoCr$_2$$O_4$, $CoAl_2$$O_4$) spinels and $Al_{5}$ $Y_3$$O_{12}$ coexisted. NiO was not found, despite of high amount of Ni in the coating. Below the oxide layer, internally formed $Al_2$$O_3$ existed.

  • To observe the influence of tetrahedral and octahedral preference of cations of Ni2+, Ti4+ upon the formation and the color development of the MgO-SnO2 spinel containing Ni2+ and Ti4+ ions, the gradual substitution of Ni2+ ions for Mg2+ ions and of Ti4+ ions for Sn4+ ions of the spinel in NiO-MgO-SnO2-TiO2 system was carried out. On samples prepared by calcining the oxide and basic carbonate mixtures at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hour, the X-ray analysis, measurement of reflectance and the test of their stability as a glaze pigment were also carried out. The results are summarized as follows. 1) As increasing the amounts of Ni2+ ions in the xNiO.(2-x)MgO.SnO2 system, spinel was not formed easily, and the mixed-spinel was formed in NiO.MgO.SnO2 of x=1 but the spinels was not formed completely in the range of x>1.5 2) The spinels was not more formed in NiO-MgO-TiO2 system than NiO-MgO-SnO2 system. Therefore, Ti4+ ions have strong octahedral preference than Sn4+ ions. The color changed the yellow region little. The mixed-spinel or non-spinel was formed easily NiO.TiO2, MgO.TiO2 of illmenite type as the gradual substitution of Ti4+ ions for Sn4+ ions. 3) The results of glaze test. The color changed from white through graish brown to brown as the gradual substitution of Ni2+ ions for Mg2+ ions in calcium-zinc glaze and calcium glaze, and from white through light yellowish beige to dull beige in tile glaze. Also, the color did not change generally as the gradual substitution of Ti4+ ions for Sn4+ ions in NiO-MgO-SnO2-TiO2 system.

  • In many papers, the electrochemical analysis of LiMn$_2$O$_4$shows the transition results of Mn$^{3+}$ ion. Charge ordering is accompanied by simultaneous orbital ordering due to the Jahn-Teller effect in Mnl$^{3+}$ ions. To analyze the cycle performance of LiMn$_{2-x}$Cu$_{x}$ O$_4$as the cathode of 4 V class lithium secondary batteries, XRD, TGA analysis were conducted. Although the cycle performance of the LiMn$_{2-x}$Cu$_{x}$ O$_4$was improved from pure LiMn$_2$O$_4$, the discharge capacity was significantly lower than LiCoO$_2$. In this paper, We study the Electrochemical characterization and enhanced stability of Cu-doped spinels in the LiMn$_{2-x}$Cu$_{x}$ O$_4$upon initial cycling.l cycling.

  • LiMn$_2$O$_4$-based spinels has been studied extensively as positive electrode materials for rechargeable lithium and lithium ion batteries. We describe here that LiMn$_2$O$_4$ cathode active materials is preparated by sol-gel process using water as solvent, which often yields inorganic oxides of excellent phase purity and well-controlled stoichiometry. Using this process, it has been possible to synthesize phase-pure crystalline spinel LiMn$_2$O$_4$ by calcining the appropriate precursors in air at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for several hours. The influence of different time have also been explored. LiMn$_2$O$_4$ preparated in the present study exhibit the single phase of cubic and active reaction at 400 ~ $600^{\circ}C$. Electrochemical studies show that the this method- synthesized materials appear to present reversible oxidation and reduction reactions at 3.0V ~ 4.5V and cycle stability during 50 cycle.

Cu-Zn 훼라이트의 자기적 성질 (Magnetic Properties of Cu-Zn Ferrites)

  • $Cu_{x}Zn_{1-x}Fe_{2}O_{4}(0{\leq}x{\leq}1)$의 이온분포 및 자기적 성질을 X-선 회절법과 $M\"{o}ssbauer$ 분광법으로 연구하였다. 결정구조는 $0{\leq}x{\leq}0.9$의 영역에서 입방 스피넬이다. $ZnFe_{2}O_{4}$의 이온분포는 ${(Zn_{1-x}Fe_{x})}_{A}{[Zn_{x}Fe_{2-x}]}_{B}O_{4}$:x=0.1 이다. Curie 온도 이하의 $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectrum에서 $Fe^{3+}$ 이온의 분포상태를 $0{\leq}x{\leq}1$의 전 영역에서 얻었다. Cu의 농도 x가 증가함에 따라서 사면체자리에 들어가는 $Fe^{3+}$ 이온의 수가 증가하고 Cu-Zn 훼라이트의 Curie 온도가 높아진다.

직접결합 마그네시아-크로미아질 내화벽돌의 특성에 미치는 $Cr_2O_3$ 함유량의 영향 (Effects of $Cr_2O_3$ Content on the Properties of Direct-Bonded Magnesia-Chromia Bricks)

  • 출발원료로서 소결마그네시아 클링커 및 천연크롬철광을 사용하여 Cr2O3의 함유량을 약 10-30 중량%의 범위에서 변화시켜 직접결합 마그네시아-크로미아질 내화벽돌의 특성에 미치는 Cr2O3의 영향을 고찰하였다. 상온 꺾임강도 및 고온 꺽임강도는 Cr2O3의 함유량 및 flux 성분의 함유량과는 상관관계가 성립하지 않았으며, 상온 꺾임강도 및 고온 꺾임강도가 가장 우수한 Cr2O3 함유량의 범위는 20중량% 전후였다. 내식성을 좌우하는 주된 요인은 flux성분의 함유량보다는 2차 spinel의 생성량이었으며, 내식성은 2차 spinel의 생성량 증가에 따라 선형적으로 증가하였다. 또한, 내spalling성은 주로 flux 성분의 함유량에 의존하였으며, flux 함유량이 적을수록 내spalling성이 우수하였다.

제주도 동부 알칼리 현무암내 스피넬-레졸라이트 포획체의 연구 (A Study on the Spinel-Lherzolite Xenolith in the Alkali Basalt from Eastern Cheju Island, Korea)

  • The spinel Ihelzolite of ultramafic xenoliths are found in the alkali basalt from eastern part of the Cheju island, Korea. The xenolith is are mainly composed of olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene and spinel. Based on the chemical compositions of the constituent minerals, the ultramafic xenolith belong to upper mantle peridotite. Each minerals have a protogranular texture. Olivine with kink band texture partly shows undulatory extinction. Some clinopyroxenes have spongy textured rims. Brown spinels occur in the interstices between olivine and pyroxene grains. Olivine is mostly forsterite $(Fo_{89-90})$. Orthopyroxene is enstatite $(Wo_{1.3}En_{88.4}Fs_{10.3})$ with 3.87~5.25 wt% $Al_{2}O_{3}$. Clinopyroxene is diopside $(Wo_{48.0}En_{46.2}Fs_{5.8})$ with 6.75~5.03 wt% $Al_{2}O_{3}$. Spinel has the Mg value of 75.9 and its Cr-number is 10.2. According to the PoT estimations for the mantle xenoliths, equilibrium temperatures of the xenoliths range from 1023 to $1038^{\circ}C$ and pressure is 18 kbar. Spinellhelzolite from this area, which is characterized by lower Cr-number (10.2) and homogeneous chemical compositions, supports that these ultramafic xenoliths are derived from the upper mantle.
