This research measures the conditions of spinal scoliosis of college students and analyses the factors that affect spinal scoliosis. From September 15, 2008 to October 30, 2008, the study was conducted with 142 C College students and measured the degrees of spinal scoliosis. The analysis was evaluated according to the Pneumex Analysis program. The collected data was compiled into statistics using the SPSS PC+ 12.0 program. The results were as follows: 1. It appeared that in the cases of C curve, reverse C curve, S curve, and the normal, there was a statistical significance(p=.010) between the conditions of spinal scoliosis of the two genders. 2. It appeared that the comparison among the three groups according to the characteristics of the subjects showed a statistical significance in spinal length(p=.000) in the C curve group, age(p=.019) and spinal length(p=.004) in the reverse C curve group, and spinal length (p=.035), difference in apparent leg length(p=.019), and difference in true leg length(p=.012) in the S curve group. 3. It appeared that in the normal group without spinal scoliosis, the results of comparing the differences in apparent true leg length and spinal length according to the characteristics of the subjects showed a statistical significance in spinal length and gender(p=.000), age (p=.008), height(p=.000), and whether or not there was a regular exercise over once per week(p=.001). 4. On the correlations between C curve, reverse C curve, and S curve and differences in apparent true leg length and spinal length, it appeared that: (a) As the difference in apparent leg length gets bigger the difference in true leg length gets big in C curve(r=.551, p=.000). (b) As the difference in apparent leg length gets bigger the difference in true leg length gets big in reverse C curve(r=.511, p=.006). (c) There is no correlation in S curve.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of combined respiratory physical therapy on respiratory function, spinal curve and spinal mobility for community-dwelling elderlies with restrictive lung diseases. In total, 10 patients participated in an 8-week intervention program of thoracic cage mobilization and breathing exercise in combination. The results of the study are as follows: for respiratory function, the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity(FVC), and FEV1/FVC were significantly improved to $.30{\pm}0.31{\ell}$, $.46{\pm}.42{\ell}$, and $18.10{\pm}11.39%$, respectively (p<.05). For spinal curve, the thoracic curve and the lumbar curve were improved significantly to $-2.20{\pm}1.40^{\circ}$ and $-1.20{\pm}1.14^{\circ}$, respectively (p<.01). For spinal mobility, the thoracic flexion ($3.40{\pm}2.99^{\circ}$), thoracic extension ($3.50{\pm}1.43^{\circ}$), lumbar flexion ($4.50{\pm}4.74^{\circ}$), and lumbar extension($-1.50{\pm}1.84^{\circ}$) were all significantly improved (p<.05). These findings indicate that thoracic cage mobilization and breathing exercise in combination improve the respiratory function, spinal alignment, and spinal mobility in elderly people with restrictive lung diseases.

This study aimed to examine the effects of thoracic cage mobilization on the respiratory function, spinal curve and spinal movement in patients with restrictive lung diseases. The subjects were ten community-dwelling elderly with a restrictive lung diseases when measured using a spirometer($FEV1/FVC{\leq}65%$, FVC<80%). They received an intervention over an eight-week period: three times a week and for 30 minutes a day. SPSS for Windows(ver. 19.0) was used to analyze all the collected data. Independent t-tests were used to examine changes before and after the intervention. The study's results showed statistically significant improvement(p<.05) in forced expiratory volume in 1 second(chage rate: .$24{\pm}.25$), thoracic curve(chage rate: $-2.50{\pm}2.76$), lumbar curve(chage rate: $-.80{\pm}1.32$), thoracic flexion(chage rate: $2.10{\pm}1.52$), thoracic extension(chage rate: $-2.00{\pm}1.25$), lumbar flexion(chage rate: $2.40{\pm}3.13$) and lumbar extension(chage rate: $-1.30{\pm}1.42$). The results of this study suggest that the thoracic cage mobilization contribute to improve pulmonary function in patients with restrictive lung disease.

I have processed all the data by using SPSS PC+. And my research process was investigated for 34 students on the Forward Bending Test, Foot Printer Test, Feedoscope Test, X-ray Test and so on. The object of this thesis is to study the correlation between spine deformity and foot abnormality in a theoretical and empirical method. The main results of this study were as follows: 1. There was statistical significance on the correlation between foot length and spine length. 2. Spinal curve is the smallest on the pes plannus group and the biggest on the pes cavus group without statistical significance. 3. Left lumbar curve is the smallest, and right thoracic spine curve is the biggest on the left foot pattern group with statistical significance. 4. On the foot weight bearing groups, there was statistical significance both of between left and right foot groups. 5. There was no statistical significance on the t-test analysis between left and right foot area according to spinal curve typology. But there was tendency that thoracic spine curve is bigger in the same side of the foot area and lumbar spine curve is bigger in the opposite side of foot area.
Objectives : This study was designed to analyze the pattern of asymmetrical alignment. Methods : This study was carried out with the data from comprehensive medical testing. 91 subjects aged 30-39 were evaluated by full spine AP X-ray. For pelvis, innominate measurement(IM), off centering measurement(OCM), ilium shadow measurement(ISM), major axis of obturator foramen(MaF), minor axis of obturator foramen(MiF) were analyzed. Spinal curvature and height of shoulder girdle were analyzed. Results : 1. In pelvis, It. posterior-inferior and it. inflare combination pattern was 38 cases(42.8%). 2. In spinal curvature, "reverse S" curve was 45 cases(49.4%) and "reverse C" curve was 30 cases(33%). 3. In shoulder girdle, It. superior pattern was 42 cases(46.1 %) and It. superior pattern was 39 cases(42.9%). 4. In whole body analysis, It. posterior-inferior and It. inflare pelvis, "reverse S" spinal curvature and It. superior shoulder girdle combination patten was 11 cases(12.1 %). This pattern is similar to Kendall's right handedness pattern and Zink's common compensatory pattern. Conclusions : Results from this investigation showed asymmetrical alignment in 30-39 years-old adults. This results are expected to contribute to classifying the alignment pattern in clinic and systemic treatment.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to introduce our surgical experiences of scoliosis and to evaluate the effectiveness of anterior correction and fusion in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Methods : Between August 2004 and August 2007, four patients with AIS were treated with anterior segmental fusion and fixation at our hospital. Mean follow-up period was 9 (6-12) months. The average age was 14.0 (13-15) years. According to Lenke classification, three patients showed Lenke 1 curve and one patient with Lenke 5 curve. Single rod instrumentation was performed in one patient, dual rod instrumentation in one patient and combined rod instrumentation in two patients. Coronal Cobb measurements were performed on all curves in thoracic, thoracolumbar and, lumbar spine and the angle of hump was measured by a scoliometer pre- and postoperatively. Results : The average operative time was 394 minutes (255-525) with an average intraoperative blood loss of 1,225 ml (1,000-1,700). The mean period of hospital stay was 19.3 days and there was no complication related to the surgery. The mean Cobb angle was reduced from $43.3^{\circ}$ to $14.8^{\circ}$ (65.8% correction) postoperatively and the rib hump corrected less than $5^{\circ}$. All patients and their parents were satisfied with the deformity correction. Conclusion : Anterior spinal correction and fusion of AIS with Lenke 1 and 5 curve showed excellent deformity correction without any complications. In particular, we recommend anterior dual rod instrumentation because of mechanical stability, better control of kyphosis, and a higher fusion rate.

PURPOSE: The Fukuda test can be used at home and in school to diagnose scoliosis at an early stage and prevent serious curvature of the spine. This study aimed to use the Fukuda test to detect scoliosis. An additional aim was to invoke the national interest in imbalanced postures and habits, which result in scoliosis, by providing data obtained in periodic assessments. METHODS: The study consisted of 35 idiopathic scoliosis patients (22 in right lumbar spinal region and 13 in the left lumbar spinal region). The distance of displacement and angle of displacement were measured following the Fukuda test. A correlation analysis was then used to examine the distance of displacement and angles of displacement and rotation with regard to the direction of the curve in scoliosis. RESULTS: There was a significant negative correlation (p<0.00) between the direction of the curve in scoliosis and the angle of displacement, but there was no correlation between the cobb's angle and distance of displacement or between the cobb's angle and angle of rotation. CONCLUSION: The Fukuda test did not capture changes in spinal curvature such as the cobb's angle, or subsequent changes in the muscles. Thus, the Fukuda test is not suited to examining the direction or status of the thoracic curve in scoliosis patients. Simple methods to objectively measure scoliosis need to be developed.

Objectives: To invesgate correlation between the scoliotic curve and BMI, cervical lordosis, lumbar lordosis and Ferguson angle in spinal scoliotic patient. Methods: The study was composed of 14 scoliosis patients beyond cobb'a angle $10^{\circ}$ (sample I group) and 15 scoliosis patients over cobb'a angle $10^{\circ}$ (sample II group). The patients were evaluated with X-ray findings of full spine AP and lateral views and statistically analyzed. Results: 1. Sample II group showed a significant decrease in BMI as compared with Sample I group(P<0.05). 2. Scoliotic curve had s negative relationship with $BMI({\gamma}=0.406)$ 3. Scolotic patients had a lower cervical angle than normal man. Conclusion: 1. The larger the scoliotic angle, the lower BMI 2. There are no concemed scoliotic curve and cervical lordosis, lumbar lordosis and Ferguson angle.
The purpose of this review was to synthesize the research on global spinal alignment and reciprocal changes following cervical or thoracolumbar reconstruction surgery. We carried out a search of PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library for studies through May 2020, and ultimately included 11 articles. The optimal goal of a truly balanced spine is to maintain the head over the femoral heads. When spinal imbalance occurs, the human body reacts through various compensatory mechanisms to maintain the head over the pelvis and to retain a horizontal gaze. Historically, deformity correction has focused on correcting scoliosis and preventing scoliotic curve progression. Following substantial correction of a spinal deformity, reciprocal changes take place in the flexible segments proximal and distal to the area of correction. Restoration of lumbar lordosis following surgery to correct a thoracolumbar deformity induces reciprocal changes in T1 slope, cervical lordosis, pelvic shift, and lower extremity parameters. Patients with cervical kyphosis exhibit different patterns of reciprocal changes depending on whether they have head-balanced or trunk-balanced kyphosis. These reciprocal changes should be considered to in order to prevent secondary spine disorders. We emphasize the importance of evaluating the global spinal alignment to assess postoperative changes.
