  • Study on spin-rotation relaxation of nuclear spins located on a methyl group can reveal valuable dynamic information related to the internal rotation of methyl group itself. Toward this end we have measured methyl carbon-13 spin-rotation of methyl group itself. Toward this end we have measured methyl carbon-13 spin-rotational relaxation rate in toluene and 2-chloro-p-xylene over the temperature range of 179-363K. To interpret the temperature dependence of measured spin-rotational relaxation rate we have revised the temperature dependence of measured spin-rotational relaxation rate we have revised the expression derived thus far by other authors and reproduced experimental data on the basis of the newly derived expression. The results confirmed that our expression leads to better agreement with experimental data than the previous one over observed temperature range, especially at high temperature.

  • The fluid flow, mass transfer, heat transfer and film thickness variation during the spin coating process are numerically studied. The model is said to be I-dimensional because radial variations in film thickness, concentration and temperature are ignored. The finite difference method is employed to solve the equations that are simplified using the similarity transformation. In early time, the film thinning is due to the radial convective outflow. However that slows during the first seconds of spinning so the film thinning due to evaporation of solvent becomes sole. The time varing film thickness is analyzed according to the wafer spin speed, the various solvent fraction in the coating liquid, and the various solvent vapor fraction in the bulk of the overlying gas during the spin coating is estimated.

  • This study examined the current-induced spin wave excitation in asymmetric nanopillar junctions with a stack sequence of 20 nm Pt/10 nm Cu/7 nm NiFe/300 nm Cu, and a circular lateral dimension of 240 nm. An analysis of the magnetic and magnetotransport characteristics of the junction showed a possible spin transfer effect at this sample dimension when the magnetization was switched from a vortex state to another state. This finding is expected to help improve the understanding of the spin transfer torque phenomenon in nanopillar junctions.

  • Many studies on the plastic spin have been done, but it is still an opened subject. It is essential for the modelling of plastic spin to understand its origin and governing parameters. For the task, it is helpful to know the hehavior of sigle crystal. This study gives the interpretations for the plastic spin of a B.C.C(body centered cubic crystal) by numerical simulation. It is discussed that the different levels of shear stresses induced on each slip pair in crystallographic slip systems and the nonlinear relationship between shear stress and slip velocity are the fundamental mechanisms of plastic spins. Finally some comments are provided on the plastic spin of polycrystal.

  • Spin polarized tunneling through a hybrid tunnel barrier of a Spin filter (SF) based on a EuO ferro-magnetic semiconductor and an organic semiconductor (OSC) (rubrene in this case) was investigated. For quasi-magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) structures, such as Co/rubrene/EuO/Al, we observed a strong spin filtering effect of the EuO layer exhibiting I-V curves with high spin polarization (P) of up to 99% measured at 4 K. However, a magnetoresistance (MR) value of 9% was obtained at 4.2 K. The low MR compared to the high P could be attributed to spin scattering caused by structural defects at the interface between the EuO and rubrene, due to nonstoichiometry in the EuO.

  • Semiconductor spintronics is an emerging interdisciplinary technology based on the electron spin degree of freedom, combining the magnetic materials and semiconductors. The spin transistor represents a novel semiconductor device, in which the electron spin is injected, manipulated, and detected, and thereby a memory function and data processing function are enabled in one device. Particularly, the spin transistor based on Silicon, the mainstream semiconductor, might have a significant impact on information technology. This review introduces the major progresses of Silicon spintronics in recent years, and describes the technical issues for the future.

  • We report a micromagnetic numerical study on different quasi-crystal formations of magnetic vortices in a rich variety of dynamic transient states in soft magnetic nano-disks. Only the application of spin-polarized dc currents to a single magnetic vortex leads to the formation of topological-soliton quasi-crystals composed of different configurations of skyrmions with positive and negative half-integer numbers (magnetic vortices and antivortices). Such topological object formations in soft magnets, not only in the absence of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction but also without magnetocrystalline anisotropy, are discussed in terms of two different topological charges, the winding number and the skyrmion number. This work offers an insight into the dynamic topological-spin-texture quasi-crystal formations in soft magnets.

  • We have investigated electronic structuresof antiferromagnetic YBaCo_2O_5 using the local spin-density approximation (LSDA) + U method. The charge and orbital ordered insulating ground state is correctly obtained with the strong on-site Coulomb interaction. Co^{2+} and Co^{3+} ions are found to be in the high spin (HS) and intermediate spin (IS) state, respectively. The tetragonal to orthorhombic structural transition is responsible for the ordering phenomena and the spin states of Co ions. The large contribution of the orbital moment to the total magnetic moment indicates that the effect of the spin-orbit coupling is very important in YBaCo_2O_5.

  • This paper verifies deployment algorithms in wireless sensor networks using SPIN, a widely used model checking tool. In this paper, two deployment algorithms, DSSA(Distributed Self Spreading Algorithm) and TBDA(Tree Based Deployment Algorithm), are verified to check their stability against oscillation as well as energy consumption that is an important factor in wireless sensor networks.

  • Herein, a correlation between B-site cation order and spin-phonon coupling in La2NiMnO6 double perovskite has been investigated. Raman spectra of La2NiMnO6 double perovskite annealed at 950 and 1400℃ have been measured in the 140-598 K range. A substantial softening of the phonon modes has been observed below the Curie temperature, which emphasized the presence of the spin-phonon coupling in the system. The spin-phonon coupling was found to be stronger in relatively more ordered La2NiMnO6 double perovskite. Thus, the magnitude of spin-phonon coupling was influenced by the Ni/Mn cation order.
