Influence of Binders on the Structure and Properties of High Speed-steel HS6-5-2 Type Fabricated Using Pressureless Forming and PIM Methods

  • Based on the comparison of structures and properties of the HS6-5-2 high speed steels made with the powder injection moulding method, pressureless forming, compacting and sintering, and commercial steels made with the ASEA-STORA method, fine carbides spread evenly in the steel matrix were found in the structure of all tested high-speed steels in the sintered state. The steels made with the pressureless forming method are characteristic of the lowest sintering temperature and the highest density, resulting from the high carbon concentration coming from the binding agent degradation.

지르코니아 세라믹 소결조건이 치과보철물의 적합도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of zirconia ceramic sintering condition on the precision of fit in dental restorations)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the sintering conditions of zirconia core on the adaptability. Methods: Ten specimens of each of commercial brand of zirconia(Razor 1100, U&C international, Seoul, Korea) were made and sintered under three different conditions. Specimens were divided into three subgroup(n=10) and sintered with various total time(1hr, 3hr, 9hr) at the maximum temperature(1500℃). The digitized data was superimposed with 3D inspection software to quantitatively obtain the adaptation of a zirconia core, and visual differences were confirmed with a color map. The root mean square(RMS) values of group were statistically analyzed with one-way ANOVA(α=0.05). Results: The overall adaptation of the zirconia cores were as follows; ss-1hr: 36.18±5.2㎛, ss-3hr: 39.55±3.9㎛, cs-9hr: 46.62±4.3㎛. They were statistically significant differences between groups for adaptation(p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it could be considered that sintering condition of 1500℃ and 1~3 hour is recommended for the better marginal and internal fit. Speed sintering can be widely utilized to fabricate zirconia prothesis as the properties of those almost are to dentistry uses.

초미립 WC-Graphene-Al2O3 복합재료 소결 및 기계적 성질 (Mechanical Properties and Sintering of Ultra Fine WC-Graphene-Al Composites)

  • Tungsten carbide has many industrial applications due to its high electrical and thermal conductivity, high melting temperature, high hardness and good chemical stability. Because tungsten carbide is difficult to sinter, it is sintered with nickel or cobalt as a binder and is currently used in nozzles, cutting tools, and molds. Alumina is reported to be a viable binder for tungsten carbide due to its higher oxidation resistance and lower cost than nickel and cobalt. The ultrafine tungsten carbide-graphene-alumina composites were rapidly sintered in a high frequency induction heating active sintering unit. The microstructure and mechanical properties (fracture toughness and hardness) of the composites were investigated and analyzed by Vickers hardness tester and electron microscope. Since the high-frequency induction heating sintering method enables high-speed sintering, ultrafine composites can be prepared by preventing grain growth. In the tungsten carbide-graphene-alumina composites, the grain size of tungsten carbide increased with the amount of alumina participation. The hardness and fracture toughness of the tungsten carbide-5% graphene- x% alumina (x = 0, 5, 10,15) composites were 5.1, 8.6, 8.6, and 8.4 MPa-m1/2 and 2384, 2168, 2165, and 2102 kg/mm2, respectively. The fracture toughness increased without a significant decrease in hardness. Sinterability was improved by adding alumina to tungsten carbide-graphene.

저순도 알루미나 세라믹 가소결재의 피삭성

  • In this study, unsistered, pre-sintered and sintered low purity alumina ceramics were machined with various tools to clarify the machniability, the optimum tool materials and the optimum tool materials and the optimum cutting conditions. The maon conclusions obtained were as follows. (1) Machined withalloy steel tool, the machinabilty of te pre-sintered ceramics becomes better with the decrease of pre-sintering temperature, but that of unsintered ceramics(white body) was extremely poor. (2) In the case of carbide tool K01, the tool life in machining white body was the longest, and the machinabilty of pre-sintered ceramics becomes poorer with the increase of the pre-sintering temperature. (3) In the case of ceramic tool, the 10000-1100 .deg. C pre-sintered ceramics showed te best machinability within a certain cutting speed range. So far as dry machining, the above combination and conditions showed the highest productivity. (4) When the pre-sintered ceramics were wet machined withsintered diamond tool, the tool life becomes extremelylong, and higher cutting speed can be can be used than in the case offull-sintered ceramics. The productivity of wet cutting is much higher than that ofdry cutting.

  • 지르코니아는 다양한 공정과정을 거쳐서 제작되며, 각각의 요소는 최종 보철물의 물성에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 특히 밀링과정과 소결과정이 모두 지르코니아 보철물의 최종 완성도(integrity)에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 밀링머신은 대부분 초정밀 5축 가공방식을 채택하고 있으며 어떤 방식을 사용하고 밀링기구를 어떻게 관리하는가에 따라서도 결과가 달라진다. 밀링블록은 절삭의 효율성과 심미재현성에 따라 선택하는데 물성의 변화를 야기할 수 있음은 주의해야 한다. 소결방식은 입자성장과 광학적 특성에 영향을 미칠 수 있는데 속도를 조절하는 최근의 방식에 대해서는 추가적인 연구가 동반되어야 정확한 평가가 이루어질 수 있다. 소결온도 뿐 아니라 온도 유지시간도 최종결과물에 영향을 줄 수 있다.

CuO 대신 Cu 미분말 치환이 NiCuZn Ferrite에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Substituting Cu Eine Particle for CuO on NiCuZn Ferrite)

  • Cu 금속 미분말은 확산속도가 CuO 보다 CuO 보다 빠르고 소결시 입자성장을 촉진시키기 때문에 기본조성 (N $i_{0.204}$C $u_{0.204}$Z $n_{0.612}$ $O_{1.02}$)F $e_{1.98}$ $O_{2.98}$에 들어가는 CuO대신 Cu/CuO의 비를 변화시켜 가면서 Cu가 ferrite에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. Cu를 CuO 대신 치환함으로써 90$0^{\circ}C$에서 완전한 Spinel구조를 가짐을 XRD pattern을 통하여 확인하였고, Cu/CuO 비가 60%일 때가 투자율 1100, Ms 87 emu/g의 최적조건을 얻었다. Cu는 소결시 확산속도를 증가시켜 입자성장에 영향을 주었으며, CuO대신 Cu의 치환은 저온에서 투자율이 개선됨을 확인하고 소결온도를 3$0^{\circ}C$이상 낮출 수 있었다. 소결이 끝난 후에는 CuO와 같은 거동을 하는 것으로 확인되었다.

사출성형한 M3/2계 고속도공구강 분말의 탄소함량 및 소결밀도 변화 (Variations in Carbon Content and Sintered Density of M3/2 Grade High Speed Steel Powders on Metal Injection Molding Process)

  • An investigation was performed to apply the M3/2 grade high speed steel for metal injection molding using both prealloyed and elementally blended powders. The injected samples were subjected to a debinding step in $H_2/N_2$ gas atmosphere at a ratio that affected the carbon content of the material. The carbon content ranged from 1.4wt.% to 1.43wt%. with increasing $H_2$ content up to 80% $H_2$ in $H_2/N_2$ atmosphere for the prealloyed powders. The carbon contents of the elementally blended powders exhibited 1.44wt.% and 1.62wt.% at 10% $H_2/N_2$ and 20% $H_2/N_2$ gas, respectively. This level decreased to 0.17wt.% upon increasing the $H_2$ content. The sintered density of both powders increased rapidly as the temperature reached the liquid phase forming temperature. After forming the liquid phase, the density rapidly increased to the optimum sintering temperature for the prealloyed powders, whereas the density of mixed elemental powders goes up slowly to the optimum sintering temperature. The optimum sintering temperature and density are 126$0^{\circ}C$ and 97.3% for the prealloyed powders and 128$0^{\circ}C$ and 96.9% for the elementally blended powders, respectively. The microstructure of the specimen at the optimum sintering temperature consisted of fine grains with primary carbides of MC and $M_6C$ type for the prealloyed powders. The elementally blended powders exhibited coarse grains with eutectic carbides of MC, $M_2C$ and $M_6C$ type.

지르코니아의 소결 후 특성 (Surface Characteristics of Ground and Post-Sintered Zirconia)

  • Purpose: It is to compare and evaluate the change of the wear rate and phase variation of the Zirconia before and after the sintering after the grinding by a high speed equipment manufactured for the Zirconia. Methods: The specimen of the sintered Zirconia was manufactured as size of $15mm{\times}15mm{\times}2mm$. The grinding has been applied to each of all pieces of each test groups for a minute fit for each condition at same speed of 50,000 rpm by a diamond bur at high speed handpiece with injection of the air and water. For the observation of the surface before and after the sintering of the each test piece, the cross section of it was observed as 100 magnification by a scanning electron microscope after it was coated by PT, and the diffraction analysis was performed by XDR to compare the crystal phase of the Zirconia. The average surface roughness value of all specimens were evaluated. The wear test was performed at room temperature by applying a load of 1kg for 120,000 cycles for the chewing period 6 months. Wear was analyzed for the enamel cusps by measurement of the vertical substance loss with a laser scanner. Conclusion: The phase variation from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic phase was confirmed in the test group of the pre-sintered Zirconia after the grinding, and the value of the surface roughness and the wear rate was increased in experimental group.

Comparative analysis on intaglio surface trueness, wear volume loss of antagonist, and fracture resistance of full-contour monolithic zirconia crown for single-visit dentistry under simulated mastication

  • PURPOSE. This analysis aimed to evaluate the intaglio surface trueness, antagonist's wear volume loss, and fracture resistance of full-contour crowns of (Y, Nb)-stabilized fully-sintered zirconia (FSZ), 4 mol% or 5 mol% yttria-stabilized partially sintered zirconia (4YZ or 5YZ) with high-speed sintering. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 42 zirconia crowns were separated into three groups: FSZ, 4YZ, and 5YZ (n = 14). The intaglio surface trueness of the crowns was evaluated at the inner surface, occlusal, margin, and axial areas and reported as root-mean-square, positive and negative average deviation. Half of the specimens were aged for 120,000 cycles in the chewing simulator, and the wear volume loss of antagonist was measured. Before and after chewing, the fracture load was measured for each group. The trueness values were analyzed with Welch's ANOVA, and the wear volume loss with the Kruskal-Wallis tests. Effect of the zirconia type and aging on fracture resistance of crowns was tested using two-way ANOVA. RESULTS. The intaglio surface trueness measured at four different areas of the crown was less than 50 ㎛, regardless of the type of zirconia. No significant P in wear volume loss of antagonists were detected among the groups (P > .05). Both the type of zirconia and aging showed statistically significant effects on fracture resistance (P < .05). CONCLUSION. The full-contour crowns of FSZ as well as 4YZ or 5YZ with high-speed sintering were clinically acceptable, in terms of intaglio surface trueness, antagonist's wear volume loss, and fracture resistance after simulated mastication.

직접식 조형법의 금속 분말 적층부 소결에 관한 연구 (Numerical Analysis for Sintering of Metal Powder Layers of the Direct Metal Prototyping)

  • The Direct Metal Prototyping(DMP), one of the rapid prototyping technologies, allows the manufacturing of three-dimensional metallic parts using metal powders directly from the CAD data. Laser power and scanning speed are the most important variables of the process. The objective of this study is to obtain the design data for laser power and scanning speed to bond metal powders effectively using the finite element method. To obtain the design values, a numerical analysis considering two-dimensional heat transfer during the sintering of metal powder layers of the process was performed. The laser beam has been modeled to have directionality in its heat flux distribution, i. e., in the scanning direction a Gaussian beam mode distribution has been assumed and in the thickness direction a square beam mode distribution. The three-dimensional irregular distribution of metal powders of the powder layer is idealized as two-dimensional distribution in which metal powders are located regularly and periodically on the plate. In this study the design values of laser power vs scanning speed have been obtained. Temperature distribution and temperature variation of the powder layers with respect to time have been predicted. The commputed dsign data will be useful in determining the initial conditions of the process.
