An Analysis on Core Loss Characteristics for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator considering the Load Conditions (부하조건을 고려한 영구자석형 동기발전기의 철손 특성 해석)

  • This paper deals with an improved core loss calculation under the load conditions, namely, no-load, AC-load and DC-load of multi-pole PM generator from curve fitting method using modified Steinmetz equation considered anomalous loss. For an accurate calculation, magnetic field analyses in stator core considering the time harmonics are performed. And using the nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA), we applied separated rotating and alternating magnetic field to core loss calculation. In order to verify the core loss results by proposed method, the experimental system for no-load core loss measurement has been implemented with DC motor, power analyzer and manufactured PM generator. And, the analysis results with rotational speed agree extremely well with those obtained by measurement.

  • Image-to-image 변환에서 인상적인 성능을 보이는 StarGAN 은 모델의 성능에 중요한 영향을 끼치는 adversarial weight, classification weight, reconstruction weight 라는 세가지 하이퍼파라미터의 결정을 전제로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이 중 conditional GAN loss 인 adversarial loss 와 classification loss 를 대치할 수 있는 attribute loss를 제안함으로써, adversarial weight와 classification weight 를 최적화하는 데 걸리는 시간을 attribute weight 의 최적화에 걸리는 시간으로 대체하여 하이퍼파라미터 탐색에 걸리는 시간을 획기적으로 줄일 수 있게 하였다. 제안하는 attribute loss 는 각 특징당 GAN 을 만들 때 각 GAN 의 loss 의 합으로, 이 GAN 들은 hidden layer 를 공유하기 때문에 연산량의 증가를 거의 가져오지 않는다. 또한 reconstruction loss 를 단순화시켜 연산량을 줄인 simplified content loss 를 제안한다. StarGAN 의 reconstruction loss 는 generator 를 2 번 통과하지만 simplified content loss 는 1 번만 통과하기 때문에 연산량이 줄어든다. 또한 이미지 Framing 을 통해 배경의 왜곡을 방지하고, 양방향 성장을 통해 학습 속도를 향상시킨 아키텍쳐를 제안한다.

A Study on the Bow Collapse of High-Speed Passenger Craft in Collision with Bridge Pier (고속 여객선의 교각 충돌에 대한 연구)

  • During the last 10 years, the various type of high speed craft have been greatly developed, and since around of 1990 the large size of high speed passenger and/or cargo vessels are also introduced and took into the service in the various routes over the world. In a marine traffic way some bridge need to build across a rivers, cannals or a waterways. This one will be an obstruction and potential risk of collision in the way of high speed craft. Accordingly some of collision accident have been reported, which were caused by a lost control, wind and hydrodynamic forces, fog or human errors. In this paper a high speed craft having 40 m length is assumed to be collided with a circular type of bridge piers at right angle. The mode of deformation, penetration depth of collapse, impact forces, reduction of speed, loss of kinetic energy, and influence of scantlings, etc. have been calculated in each speed with a time variation to find a maximum values within a limit, and are graphically presented.

  • This paper proposes a field-oriented control strategy without speed sensor in overall speed range. At low speed region including zero speed, the electrical saliency which is due to the main flux saturation is used in order to estimate an instantaneous flux position. This electrical saliency can be obtained from the difference of high frequency impedance by the high frequency signal injection. This method enables the stable operation at zero speed or stator frequency even under heavily loaded condition. However, because of the high frequency signal injection the loss and noise in motor increase and the voltage margin is reduced as the motor speed increases. Therefore, this algorithm must be supplemented with the algorithm based on the electrical model of motor, which is conventionally used in the region except the low speed. This paper proposes the combination algorithm between the high frequency signal infection method and the adaptive observer, in which the rotor flux and motor speed can be simultaneously estimated by the adaptive control theory. This combination algorithm enables the stable operation of field-oriented speed control without speed sensor in overall speed range. This is verified by experimental results.

Estimation of a transition point of sound propagation condition using transmission loss data measured in SAVEX15 (SAVEX15 실험 해역에서 측정된 전달손실 자료를 이용한 음파 전달 조건의 변환점 추정)

  • Sound propagation in shallow water changes from spherical spreading to cylindrical spreading, depending on boundary conditions, and this point is defined as a transition point of the sound propagation condition. Theoretically, the transition point can be estimated using the transmission loss as a function of source-receiver range. In this paper, the transmission loss curve in a Pekeris waveguide is predicted using a parabolic-equation based acoustic propagation model and using this transmission loss curve, the range from the source of the transition point is estimated, which is compared to the critical distance calculated using the sound speed ratio of water to sediment. In addition, the effects of the sound speed profile and source depth change on the transition point are investigated. Finally, the transition point is estimated using the transmission loss data measured during the period of the SAVEX15 (Shallow Water Acoustic Variability EXperiment 2015) conducted 65 km southwest of Jeju Island in May 2015, and it is compared to the ocean environmental parameters to understand the properties of sound propagation in the experimental area.

Harvesting Performance of the Prototype Small Combine for Buckwheat and Adlay

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the harvesting performance of a prototype small combine for buckwheat and adlay. Methods: The prototype small combine was designed and constructed. Its ratio of grain loss, ratio of output components in the grain outlet, and field capacity for harvesting buckwheat and adlay were analyzed through field tests. Results: The prototype small combine required a working width of about 0.6 to 0.7 m to harvest buckwheat. The maximum travel speed was about 0.36 m/. The total ratio of grain loss was about 21.6%, which consisted of 8.8% at the header and 12.8% at the dust outlet. The grain and the material other than grain (MOG) ratios at the grain outlet were 94.1% and 5.9% respectively. In the case of adlay harvest, the maximum working width was about 1.2 m, that is, two rows. The range of maximum travel speed was about 0.45 to 0.46 m/s. When adlay was harvested in one row, the total ratio of grain loss ranged from 36.3 to 42.8% according to the cutting height. The cutting height of 30 cm resulted in a higher total ratio of grain loss than 60 cm and 90 cm. When the cutting height was 60 cm, there was no significant change in the total ratio of grain loss according to the number of working rows and the stage of the primary transmission shift. The total ratio of grain loss ranged from 35.2 to 37.7%. The grain and the MOG ratios at the grain outlet ranged from 93.1 to 95.8% and from 4.2 to 6.9%, respectively. No significant difference was observed in relation to cutting height, number of working rows, and the stage of the primary transmission shift. Conclusions: The prototype small combine for harvesting miscellaneous cereal crops showed good potential for the efficient harvesting of buckwheat and adlay. However, to improve the harvesting performance, there seems to be a need to develop new crop varieties suitable for machine-based harvesting and improve the transmissions, reels, separation/cleaning systems.

An Experimental Study on Loss Coefficient of Turbine Cascade with Incidence Angles (입사각의 변화에 따른 터빈 캐스케이드에서 손실계수에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • For the study on loss coefficients of turbine cascade with variation of incidence angle, the wind-tunnel tests were performed under the ranges in velocity of 10 m/s, 15 m/s, 20 m/s and incidence angles from $-20^{\circ}\;to\;20^{\circ}$ by intervals of $5^{\circ}$. Comparing our results with Soderberg's prediction, differences in loss coefficient were $2.5\%\;and\;2.8\%$ each for 10 m/s and 15 m/s. A large disagreement of $30.3\%$ was showed at 20 m/s freestream velocity. The comparisons of these test results with Ainley's prediction showed an $8\%$ difference in the case of 20 m/s freestream velocity. Test results were approximately comparable with Ainley's loss prediction's in incidence angles. Generally, averaged total pressure loss seemed to be decreased as Reynolds number increased. The total pressure loss coefficients were increased parabolically, as incidence angles were increased negatively and positively from $0^{\circ}$, in all speed ranges. At the far low freestream velocities, minimum loss accurred between $-5^{\circ}\;and\;+5^{\circ}$. But this minimum range narrowed the location of this range by shifting to the direction of the angle as freestream velocity was increased.

Effect of Bundle icing Forces on the Shattering Loss of Grains (바인다의 효출력이 곡물탈립손실에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of binder kicking forces on the shattering losses of paddy rice, which has been widely understood as an outstanding loss factor in harvesting with a binder, were experimentally assessed in this thesis.Through the field tests the optimum time of harvest, in terms of grain moisture contents, was found by considering harvesting losses for two rice varieties, harvested by two different binders, at four or five grain moisture levels.A device was designed and manufactured to apply various kicking forces to the bundles and was used in the bundle kicking tests. It was intended to find out the optimum range of kicking force to minimize the kicking losses. Based on the study, modification of the existing binder kicking mechanism was suggested. The following is a summary of the results of this thesis. 1. In Suweon 258 variety, as the grain moisture content is reduced, so the cutting loss and the kicking loss increase. The grain losses range from 0.77 to 0.82 percent of total field yield for the cutting loss, from 1.83 to 2.01 percent for the kicking loss, and from 2.60 to 2.83 percent for the field loss, when the moisture content is about 22 percent. 2. In Jinheung variety , the field losses increased as the grain moisture content decreased . When the moisture content was 20 percent, the field loss, cutting loss and kicking loss was 0.42-0.49 % , 0.30-0.35, and 0.12 -0.14% of the total field yield, respectively. 3. The difference in the field loss , cutting loss, and kicking loss for the two binders was 0.23% , 0.05% and 0.18% respectively in Suweon 258 variety, and 0.07% , 0.02% and 0.05% respectively ini Jinheung variety. The grain losses for binder B were slightly higher than those for binder A. 4. In the statistical analysis of each variety , the kicking force and the moisture content of the grain, and its interaction were all highly significant at 1% level by T test .The optimum kicking force was found to be in the 3.0-0.4kg range. This does not interrupt the binder operation, while ioses are kept to an acceptale level. 5. To reduce the kicking force of the eXlstmg binder mechanism, the speed of rotation of the kicking arm needs to be redued by increasing the number of driving sprocket teeth, and the position and gear ratio of the knotter-bill and driving bevelgear have to be change to give a !motter-bill speed of 1110 rpm. It is also desirable to attach a belt conveyor which smoothly carries the bundle to the ground. 6. The optimum harvesting time cased on maximum field yield was found to be at a grain moisture content of around 22 percent for Suweon 258 variety, and 20 percent for Jinheung variety. Tota] field yield and field yield at the time amounted to 9, 812.5 kg/ha, 9, 302. 5kg/ha respectively for the Suweon 258, and 7, 819.5 kg/ ha, 7, 158.7 kg/ha respectively for the Jinheung variety.

Pneumatic Separation on Separating Unit of a Combine Harvester (콤바인 선별실(選別室)의 기류선별(氣流選別)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was attempted to investigate the pneumatic separation on separating unit of a combine harvester. The aerodynamic characteristics of threshed materials were analyzed by experiments. The air velocity distribution within the separation chamber was measured for various speeds of the winnower and suction fans to find out the operational and design conditions of the separating unit which would serve for reducing the grain loss from chaff outlet. The results of study arc summarized as follows: 1. Based on the separation curve of threshed materials analyzed, it was shown that three different kind. of materials-kernels, straw chaff, and leaf chaff were as a whole able to be separated pneumatically, regardless of varieties. However, a small amount of the separation grain loss may be expected to occur if the complete separation between kernels and straw chaff would be undertaken because some portion of their separation curve were overlapping. 2. The analysis of air velocity distribution showed that the separation chamber may be divided into two regions, the discharging and separating. The air velocity of the discharging region was 5-15 m/s and that of the separating region 2-5 m/s. 3. The air movement of the separation chamber may be a turbulence flow, being its speed became greater as it moves from the left to the right section of the separation chamber. The equi-speed line. of air flow had a steep gradient in between the discharging and the separation regions. The air velocity in the discharging region was much higher than the terminal velocity of kernels, because of which those kernels appearing in the region could be possibly exhausted as the grain loss from the chaff outlet. 4. The motion trajectory of threshed material in the separating region was dominantly affected by the winnower fan, on the other hand, its motion in the discharging region was affected by suction fan. 5. The grain loss from the chaff outlet was affected greatly by the winnower fan and the trace of kernel movement. It was observed that the optimum working speed to give minimum grain loss from chaff outlet for the combine tested should be maintained at 950~1,150 rpm for the winnower fan and 1,850 rpm for the suction fan. 6. It was shown that a large portion of grain loss from chaff outlet may occur when the kernels may bump against a portion of separation chamber wall and those kernels thus scattered into the discharging region were sucked by the suction fan. It was accordingly recommended that a new design of the wall of separation chamber so as to bump down kernels may be necessary to reduce grain loss from the chaff outlet.

  • The present study was undertaken to investigate the dry wear characteristics of die steel STD 11 for cold molding. The wear test was experimentally carried out under different conditions using a wear device, which was made in laboratory, and in which annular surfaces of wear testing specimens wear rubbed in dry sliding condition with varying the sliding speed, contact pressure, and sliding distance. The wear loss by variation of sliding speed was much in 0.3 m/sec and less in higher speed range above its sliding speed according to formation of the boundary lubrication film. The critical sliding speed with maximum value of the specific wear rate switched over to lower speed side according. as contact pressure increased. The critical sliding distance was increased with decrease in oxidation reaction velocity. The depth below subsurface showing maximum hardness (Hv) came out at the position, $60 \mu m$, of the maximum shear stress due to strain hardening.
