In this paper, we investigate interference between short-range radiocommunication devices(SRDs) with frequency hopping spread spectrum(FHSS) and direct sequence spread spectrum(DSSS) methods when they are in the same frequency bands. In order to analyze interference from unwanted emission of SRD with DSSS to that of FHSS, Monte-carlo(MC) simulation method is employed and interference probabilities are calculated. We simulate interference scenarios in accordance with several duty cycles and bandwidths. It is also assumed that the propagation model is free space. The effect of distance between interfering transmitter and victim receiver is analyzed and bit error rate(BER) is simulated. From the interference analysis results, it is shown that duty cycle affects compatibility more than band-width does. Also, we can make sure of the separation distance which satisfies BER criterion when there are only one interfering transmitter and multiple interfering transmitters.
This paper presents constructing transmitter and receiver by using a direct sequence spread spectrum techniques to DPSK (Differential Phase-Shift Keying) scheme in underwater acoustic communication. Since DPSK signal can be demodulated if the receiver knows only the phase difference between the adjacent bits, DPSK receiver structure has the advantage of being simplified. In the conventional receiver, two adjacent symbols of transmitted signal before despread are passed to the transition correlator that detects data by comparing maximum correlation outputs. At this time, the error for maximum value of the correlator output may increase because of low SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) or high Doppler shift frequency according to the underwater channel. In this paper, we propose a method for accurate detection result using the width as well as the magnitude among outputs produced by the correlator. The performances of the proposed method was evaluated by simulation and lake trial data.

The offshore plants such as FPSO are subjected to combination loading of environmental conditions (swell, wave, wind and current). Therefore the fatigue damage is occurred in the operation time because the units encounter the environmental phenomena and the structural configurations are complicated. This paper is a research for frequency domain fatigue analysis of wide-band random loading focused on accuracy of fatigue damage estimation regarding the proposed methods. We selected ideal bi-modal spectrum. And comparison between time-domain fatigue analysis and frequency-domain fatigue analyses are conducted through the fatigue damage ratio. Fatigue damage ratios according to Vanmarcke's bandwidth parameter are founded for wide-band. Considering safety, we recommend that Jiao-Moan and Tovo-Benasciutti methods are optimal way at the fatigue design for wide-band response. But, it is important that these methods based on frequency-domain unstably change the accuracy according to the material parameter of S-N curve. This study will be background and guidance for the new frequency-domain fatigue analysis development in the future.

We present a new database of absorption and emission-line measurements based on the entire spectral atlas from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) 7th data release of galaxies within a redshift of 0.2. Our work makes use of the publicly available penalized pixel-fitting(pPXF) and gas and absorption line fitting (gandalf) IDL codes, aiming to improve the existing measurements for stellar kinematics, the strength of various absorption-line features, and the flux and width of the emissions from different species of ionized gas. Our fit to the stellar continuum uses both standard stellar population models and empirical templates obtained by combining a large number of stellar spectra in order to fit a subsample of high-quality SDSS spectra for quiescent galaxies. Furthermore, our fit to the nebular spectrum includes an exhaustive list of both recombination and forbidden lines. Foreground Galactic extinction is implicitly treated in our models, whereas reddening in the SDSS galaxies is included in the form of a simple dust screen component affecting the entire spectrum that is accompanied by a second reddening component affecting only the ionised gas emission. Most notable of our work is that, we provide quality of the fit to assess reliability of the measurements. The quality assessment can be highly effective for finding new classes of objects. For example, based on the quality assessment around the Ha and [NII] nebular lines, we found approximately 1% of the SDSS spectra which classified as "galaxies" by the SDSS pipeline are in fact type I Seyfert AGN.

Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the influence of different radiant exposures provided by single-peak and polywave light-curing units (LCUs) on the degree of conversion (DC) and the mechanical properties of resin cements. Materials and Methods: Six experimental groups were established for each cement (RelyX ARC, 3M ESPE; LuxaCore Dual, Ivoclar Vivadent; Variolink, DMG), according to the different radiant exposures (5, 10, and $20J/cm^2$) and two LCUs (single-peak and polywave). The specimens were made (7 mm in length ${\times}$ 2 mm in width ${\times}$ 1 mm in height) using silicone molds. After 24 hours of preparation, DC measurement was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. The same specimens were used for the evaluation of mechanical properties (flexural strength, FS; elastic modulus, E) by a three-point bending test. Data were assessed for normality, after which two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Tukey's test were performed. Results: No properties of the Variolink cement were influenced by any of the considered experimental conditions. In the case of the RelyX ARC cement, DC was higher when polywave LCU was used; FS and E were not influenced by the conditions evaluated. The LuxaCore cement showed greater sensitivity to the different protocols. Conclusions: On the basis of these results, both the spectrum of light emitted and the radiant exposure used could affect the properties of resin cements. However, the influence was material-dependent.
We performed Raman spectroscopy on two different over-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x (BSCCO), of which superconducting transition temperatures are 89 K and 77 K. Line-shape analysis of the Raman-spectrum was done, focused on B1g bond buckling mode which have drawn a lot of attention, since photoemission studies showed an evidence for strong coupling between the mode and electron. The line-shapes show asymmetry and are well fitted by the Fano line-shape formula. Remarkably, we found that the peak line-widths from B1g bond buckling mode in BSCCO show much broader than those in YBa2Cu3O7-x. The broad line width can be attributed to the superstructure modulation of BSCCO. Our results imply that B1g bond buckling mode may have close relation to the origin of superconductivity or to boosting the superconducting transition temperature in BSCCO.
We have studied the polarization effects and the coupling intensity effects of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) in the 5S$_{1}$2-/5P$_{3}$2-/5D$_{5}$2/ ladder system of Rb. We obtained the EIT spectrum with the hyperfine structure of 5D$_{5}$2/ transitions and the minimal width of the measured EIT spectrum was 6.5 MHz. We observed the change of the relative magnitudes of the hyperfine structure of EIT according to not only the polarizations of lasers but also the intensity of the coupling laser. The cause of the coupling intensity effects is that the EIT signal nonlinearly increases to the coupling intensity.
Coal samples with different joints morphology were subjected to uniaxial compression experiments, cracks evolution was recorded by Nikon D5300 and acoustic emission (AE) energy signals were collected by AEwin Test for Express-8.0. During loading process, coal samples deformed elastically with no obvious cracks changes, then they expanded gradually along the trace of the original cracks, accompanied by the formation of secondary cracks, and eventually produced a large-scale fracture. It was more interesting that the failure mode of samples were all shear shape, whatever the original cracks morphology was. With cracks and damage evolution, AE energy radiated regularly. At the early loading stage, micro damage and small scale fracture events only induced a few AE events with less energy, while large scale fracture leaded to a number of AE events with more energy at the later stage. Based on the multifractal theory, the multifractal spectrum could explain AE energy signals frequency responses and the causes of AE events with load. Multifractal spectrum width (${\Delta}{\alpha}$), could reflect the differences between the large and small AE energy signals. And another parameter (${\Delta}f$) could reflect the relationship between the frequency of the least and greatest signals in the AE energy time series. This research is helpful for us to understand cracks evolution and AE energy signals causes.

Since the detection of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is increasing due to regular cervical cancer screening, there is a high demand for simpler tools to diagnose and treat CIN in the clinic. In this study, we proposed an electric property of cervical tissue to verify treatment using a laser. At first, we observed the depth and width of ablated cervical tissues for 29 samples according to four different pulse energy of the fractional CO2 laser to find enough pulse energy to reach the basement layer for initiated CIN. And then, the relative frequency differences in impedance spectrum before and after laser irradiation for ten non-CIN samples were collected using bioimpedance spectroscopy with a multi-electrode probe. As a result, the laser ablated the cervical tissues with a depth of more than 300 ㎛ at 100 mJ pulse energy. Also, we confirmed that the relative changes of electrical property for cervical tissue increased as the pulse energy of laser output increased, and the variation between samples decreased. Since the relative change in electrical properties of cervical tissue can be easily and quickly measured, the proposed technique paves the way for further verification and follow-up study of laser treatment for CIN.
We propose an overall procedure for measuring and unfolding fast neutron spectra using a trans-stilbene scintillation detector. Detector characterization was described, including the information on energy calibration, detector resolution, and nonproportionality response. The digital charge comparison method was used for the investigation of neutron-gamma Pulse Shape Discrimination (PSD). A pair of values of 600 ns pulse width and 24 ns delay time was found as the optimized conditions for PSD. A fitting technique was introduced to increase the trans-stilbene Proton Response Function (PRF) by 28% based on comparison of the simulated and experimental electron-equivalent distributions by the Cf-252 source. The detector response matrix was constructed by Monte-Carlo simulation and the spectrum unfolding was implemented using the iterative Bayesian method. The unfolding of simulated and measured spectra of Cf-252 and AmBe neutron sources indicates reliable, stable and no-bias results. The unfolding technique was also validated by the measured cosmic-ray induced neutron flux. Our approach is promising for fast neutron detection and spectroscopy.
