Finite element method(FEM) is one of the most popularly used method analyzing the dynamic behaviors of structures. But unless number of finite elements is large enough, the results from FEM some what different from exact analytical solutions, especially at high frequency range. On the other hand, as the spectral analysis method(SAM) deals directly with the governing equations of a structure, the results from this melthod cannot but be exact regardless of any frequency range. However, the SAM can be applied only to the case where a structure is subjected to the concentrated loads, despite a structure could be unddergone distributed loads more generally. In this paper, therefore, new spectral analysis algorithm is introduced through the spectral element method(SEM), so that it can be applied to anlystructures whether they are subjected to the concentrated loads or to the distributed loads. The results from this new SEM are compared with both the results from FEM and the exact analytical solutions. As expected, the results from new SEM algorithm are found to be almost identical to the exact analytical solutions while those from FEM are not agreed well with the exact analytical solutions as the mode number increases.

An innovative system for the alternative continuous wide spectral spatial heterodyne spectrometer (ACWS-SHS) is proposed. The relationship between the ACWS-SHS and the wide spectral spatial heterodyne spectrometer (WS-SHS) at the resolution limit, the spectral range, the grating diffraction efficiency and the interference fringes contrast ratio has been analyzed theoretically. Through the comparison of the theoretical analysis and simulation results, it is found that the two systems for the WS-SHS and the ACWS-SHS have the same resolution limit and spectral range, which are ${\delta}{\sigma}$ and ${\sigma}_{01}$, while in the ACWS-SHS system the critical diffraction efficiency of echelle grating is 68.39% and the critical contrast ratio of interference fringes is 0.4135, which is much better than the performance of the WS-SHS system. Therefore, the ACWS-SHS reduces the high requirements for the precision of equipment and expands the application field of SHS effectively.
Many studies have been performed to predict a reliable and accurate stress-range distribution and fatigue damage regarding the Gaussian wide-band stress response due to multi-peak waves and multiple dynamic loads. So far, most of the approximation models provide slightly inaccurate results in comparison with the rain-flow counting method as an exact solution. A step-by-step study was carried out to develop new approximate spectral moments that are close to the rain-flow counting moment, which can be used for the development of a fatigue damage model. Using the special parameters and bandwidth parameters, four kinds of parameter-based combinations were constructed and estimated using the R-squared values from regression analysis. Based on the results, four candidate empirical formulas were determined and compared with the rain-flow counting moment, probability density function, and root mean square (RMS) value for relative distance. The new approximate spectral moments were finally decided through comparison studies of eight response spectra. The new spectral moments presented in this study could play an important role in improving the accuracy of fatigue damage model development. The present study shows that the new approximate moment is a very important variable for the enhancement of Gaussian wide-band fatigue damage assessment.
A model is developed for the calculation of sea surface generated ambient noise in the range dependent ocean environment. The sources are located in the horizontal plane all around and their depths are at the near-surface. The receiver array is located in the range dependent ocean waveguide. One-way coupled mode method is used to model the acoustic propagation between the sources and receiver in the range dependent waveguide, and the cross spectral density matrix of noise is derived. In simulation, noise intensity, beamforming result and coherence function are calculated from the cross spectral density matrix. These results are compared with those in the range independent environment. The modeling result shows the effect of the vertical directionality and asymmetry characteristics of the horizontal plane.
We present here the solar LOG GF values obtained using the Liege solar at las and the standard solar photospheric models for the spectral lines in the wavelength range ${\lambda}{\lambda}$ 6209 - 6273 ${\AA}$. These log gf values shall be used to interpret a high resolution spectra of the star $\gamma$ Draconics.
Although the intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) method for pan-sharpening has a spectral distortion problem, it is a popular method in the remote sensing community and has been used as a standard procedure in many commercial packages due to its fast computing and easy implementation. Recently, IHS-like approaches have tried to overcome the spectral distortion problem inherited from the IHS method itself and yielded a good result. In this paper, a similar IHS-like method with least squares for WorldView-2 pan-sharpening is presented. In particular, unlike the previous methods with three or four-band multispectral images for pan-sharpening, six bands of WorldView-2 multispectral image located within the range of panchromatic spectral radiance responses are considered in order to reduce the spectral distortion during the merging process. As a result, the new approach provides a satisfactory result, both visually and quantitatively. Furthermore, this shows great value in spectral fidelity of WorldView-2 eight-band multispectral imagery.

In this paper, we designed the PC-based analyzer of the power spectral density that could estimate the heart rate variability from time series data of R-R interval. The power spectral density estimated that it applied the autoregressive model to the measured electrocardiogram during a short period. Also, the characteristics of the designed analyzer are that it could process of the signal filtering, the generation and recomposition of time series and the feature extraction at the same time. Especially the analyzer reconstructed which applied the lowpass filter of the time series composed by the linear interpolation so as to enhance the signal-to-noise feature. We could estimate the power spectral density that confirmed a variety of power peak with low frequency range and high frequency rang of autonomic nerve by the heart rate variability.

This research is concerned for improving the result of speech recognition under the noisy speech. We knew that spectral subtraction and recovery of valleys in spectral envelope obtained from noisy speech are more effective for the improvement of the recognition. In this research, the averaged spectral envelope obtained from vowel spectrums are used for the emphasis of valleys. The vocalic spectral information at lower frequency range is emphasized and the spectrum obtained from consonants is not changed. In simulation, the emphasis coefficients are varied on cepstral domain. This method is used for the recognition of noisy digits and is improved.

For mapping the distribution of heavy metals in the mining area, field spectroscopy and hyperspectral remote sensing were used in this study. Although heavy metals are spectrally featureless from the visible to the short wave infrared range, possible variations in spectral signal due to heavy metals bound onto minerals can be explained with the metal binding reaction onto the mineral surface. Variations in the spectral absorption shapes of lattice OH and oxygen on the mineral surface due to the combination of heavy metals were surveyed over the range from 420 to 2400 nm. Spectral parameters such as peak ratio and peak area were derived and statistically linked to metal concentration levels in the streambed samples collected from the dry stream channels. The spatial relationships between spectral parameters and concentrations of heavy metals were yielded as well. Based on the observation at a ground level for the relationship between spectral signal and metal concentration levels, the spectral parameters were classified in a hyperspectral image and the spatial distribution patterns of classified pixels were compared with the product of analysis at the ground level. The degree of similarity between ground dataset and image dataset was statistically validated. These techniques are expected to support assessment of dispersion of heavy metal contamination and decision on optimal sampling point.

This study describes the evaluation results on the effect of soil particle surfaces coated with various hydrophobic conditions on spectral information according to water content. Wettability test and spectral information evaluation test were performed on the hydrophobic coated standard sand. When the standard sand was coated with 1%, 3%, and 5% hydrophobic, the contact angles of sand-water interface were 130°~143°, 129°~144°, and 131°~144°, respectively. This means that the contact angle increased as the degree of hydrophobic coating increased at the same drying time, but the range of the contact angle had the same wettability. This means that the contact angle increases as the hydrophobic coating degree increases at the same drying time, whereas the contact angle range has the same wettability. As a result of spectral information evaluation, the maximum spectral reflectance of the dried sand with hydrophobic condition decreased compared to that of the hydrophilic sand, as the degree of hydrophobic increased. However, the maximum spectral reflectance was increased by increasing the degree of hydrophobic under the same water content conditions.
