Accurate cloud discrimination in satellite images strongly affects accuracy of remotely sensed parameter produced using it. Especially, cloud contaminated pixel over ocean is one of the major error factors such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), ocean color, and chlorophyll-a retrievals,so accurate cloud detection is essential process and it can lead to understand ocean circulation. However, static threshold method using real-time algorithm such as Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) can't fully explained reflectance variability over ocean as a function of relative positions between the sun - sea surface - satellite. In this paper, we assembled a reflectance spectral library as a function of Solar Zenith Angle (SZA) and Viewing Zenith Angle (VZA) from ocean surface reflectance with clear sky condition of Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) identified by NOAA's cloud products and spectral library is used for applying the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) to detect cloud pixels. We compared qualitatively between AHI cloud property and our results and it showed that AHI cloud property had general tendency toward overestimation and wrongly detected clear as unknown at high SZA. We validated by visual inspection with coincident imagery and it is generally appropriate.
Ecological disturbance plants distributed throughout the country are causing a lot of damage to us directly or indirectly in terms of ecology, economy and health. These plants are not easy to manage and remove because they have a strong fertility, and it is very difficult to express them quantitatively. In this study, drone hyperspectral sensor data and Field spectroradiometer were acquired around the experimental area. In order to secure the quality accuracy of the drone hyperspectral image, GPS survey was performed, and a location accuracy of about 17cm was secured. Spectroscopic libraries were constructed for 7 kinds of plants in the experimental area using a Field spectroradiometer, and drone hyperspectral sensors were acquired in August and October, respectively. Spectral data for each plant were calculated from the acquired hyperspectral data, and spectral angles of 0.08 to 0.36 were derived. In most cases, good values of less than 0.5 were obtained, and Ambrosia trifida and Lactuca scariola, which are common in the experimental area, were extracted. As a result, it was found that about 29.6% of Ambrosia trifida and 31.5% of Lactuca scariola spread in October than in August. In the future, it is expected that better results can be obtained for the detection of ecosystem distribution plants if standardized indicators are calculated by constructing a precise spectral angle standard library based on more data.

The development and evolution of near infra-red spectroscopic (NIS) calibrations for high-moisture materials is an expensive proposition. Such investment is suspect unless the instrument, or instruments, on which calibrations were developed can be preserved intact or re-standardized as component replacements occurs. The objective of this paper is to detail the changes in performance of a six-year old instrument after maintenance in years five and six resulted in collection of spectral data that was increasingly removed from the calibration population. Calibrations for the analysis of mature sugarcane stalks, a high-moisture material, were developed successfully in 1995 using a broad sample population in terms of genetics, and spectral and temporal variation. The spectral library was further broadened in 1996. In 1997, 1999, 1999, and 2000, additional samples constituting 10% of the laboratories throughput were subjected to full component analyses using routine laboratory techniques. These samples were primarily random samples, but were complemented with samples that were significant for the spectral H statistic or for the component t statistic. In 1998, an additional calibration was developed for populations consisting of samples of either mature stalks (culms) or sucker culms. Substantial additional samples numbers were collected for this calibration in 1999 and 2000. Attempts to standardize the scanning spectrophotometer used for these calibrations with a second similar instrument in 1999 failed because the instruments were optically different, and standardization could not account for this. Maintenance adjustments were made to the remote reflectance probe of the original instrument in 1999, and replacement of its PbS detectors was done in 2000. Spectral data collected in 1999 and 2000 yielded spectral populations that were increasingly removed from the respective spectral populations on which the calibrations were developed. The mature stalk calibrations benefited marginally from evolutionary calib.

Spectral reflectance is sparse in space, and while the traditional spectral-reconstruction algorithm does not make full use of this characteristic sparseness, the compressive sensing algorithm can make full use of it. In this paper, on the basis of analyzing compressive sensing based on the orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm, a new algorithm based on the Dice matching criterion is proposed. The Dice similarity coefficient is introduced, to calculate the correlation coefficient of the atoms and the residual error, and is used to select the atoms from a library. The accuracy of Spectral reconstruction based on the pseudo-inverse method, Wiener estimation method, OMP algorithm, and DOMP algorithm is compared by simulation on the MATLAB platform and experimental testing. The result is that spectral-reconstruction accuracy based on the DOMP algorithm is higher than for the other three methods. The root-mean-square error and color difference decreases with an increasing number of principal components. The reconstruction error decreases as the number of iterations increases. Spectral reconstruction based on the DOMP algorithm can improve the accuracy of color-information replication effectively, and high-accuracy color-information reproduction can be realized.
Efflorescence is a phenomenon primarily caused by a carbonation process in concrete structures. Efflorescence can cause concrete degradation in the long term; therefore, it must be accurately assessed by proper inspection. Currently, the assessment is performed on the basis of visual inspection or image-based inspection, which may result in the subjective assessment by the inspectors. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for the objective and quantitative assessment of concrete efflorescence using hyperspectral imaging (HSI). HSI acquires the full electromagnetic spectrum of light reflected from a material, which enables the identification of materials in the image on the basis of spectrum. Spectral angle mapper (SAM) that calculates the similarity of a test spectrum in the hyperspectral image to a reference spectrum is used to assess efflorescence, and the reference spectral profiles of efflorescence are obtained from theUSGS spectral library. Field tests were carried out in a real building and a bridge. For each experiment, efflorescence assessed by the proposed approach was compared with that assessed by image-based approach mimicking conventional visual inspection. Performance measures such as accuracy, precision, and recall were calculated to check the performance of the proposed approach. Performance-related issues are discussed for further enhancement of the proposed approach.
Based on the observation that ignoring the angle dependency of multigroup resonance cross sections within a fuel pellet would result in nontrivial underestimation of the spatial self-shielding of flux, a parametrized spectral superhomogenization (SPH) factor library (PSSL) method is developed as a practical means of resolving the problem. Region-wise spectral SPH factors are calculated by the normal and transport corrected SPH iterations after ultrafine group slowing down calculations over various light water reactor pin-cell configurations. The parametrization is done with fuel temperature, U-238 number density, fuel radius, moderator source represented by ${\Sigma}_{mod}V_{mod}$, and the number density ratio of resonance nuclides to that of U-238 in a form of resonance interference correction factors. The parametrization is successful in that the root mean square errors of the interpolated SPH factors over the fuel regions of various pin-cells are within 0.1%. The improvement in reactivity error of the PSSL method is shown to be superior to that by the original SPH method in that the reactivity bias of -200 pcm to -300 pcm vanishes almost completely. It is demonstrated that the environment effect takes only about 4% in the reactivity improvement so that the pin-cell based PSSL method is effective in the assembly problems.

We present medium resolution (R = 5000 - 6000) spectra in the near-infrared band, 1.4 - 1.8 ${\mu}m$, for template stars in G, K, and M types observed by the echelle spectrometer, IRCS, at the SUBARU 8.2 m telescope. The identification of lines is based on the spectra of Arcturus (K2 III) in the literature. We measured the equivalent of widths and compared our results to those of Meyer et al. (1998). We conclude that our spectral resolution (R = 6000) data can investigate more accurately the properties of lines in stellar spectra. The library of the template stellar spectra in ASCII format are available for download on the World Wide Web.
A macroscopic cross section generation model was developed for the conceptual horizontal, compact high temperature gas reactor (HC-HTGR). Because there are many sources of spectral effects in the design and analysis of the core, conventional LWR methods have limitations for accurate simulation of the HC-HTGR using a neutron diffusion core neutronics simulator. Several super-cell model configurations were investigated to consider the spectral effect of neighboring cells. A new history variable was introduced for the existing library format to more accurately account for the history effect from neighboring nodes and reactivity control drums. The macroscopic cross section library was validated through comparison with cross sections generated using full core Monte Carlo models and single cell cross section for both 3D core steady-state problems and 2D and 3D depletion problems. Core calculations were then performed with the AGREE HTR neutronics and thermal-fluid core simulator using super-cell cross sections. With the new history variable, the super-cell cross sections were in good agreement with the full core cross sections even for problems with significant spectrum change during fuel shuffling and depletion.
This study was started for providing the application method of hyperspectral im age over extreme cold area as the Antarctic. Study area was Terra Nova Bay area which was decided as the candidate of 2nd Antarctic base station. For deciding last location of base station, many researchers tried to analyze the suitability of this study area. Among many suitability indicators, the location and stability of extracted bed rock area were very important. Using many spectral information of hyperspectral data, we tried detecting of bed rock and classifying four rock types. As additionally data, international spectral library of rock were used in this study. At the results, short-infrared wavelength bands were useful in the detection and classification of bed rock.

We present medium resolution spectra in the near-infrared (IR) band 1.4-1.8 microns at a resolving power of R = 5000-10000 of template stars in G, K, and M types with luminosity classes of III observed by the echelle spectrometer, IRCS, at the SUBARU 8.2 m telescope. Identification of lines in the template star spectra has been completed base on the reference of Arcturus spectrum. We measured equivalent width (EW) of the lines, and analyze the trends of EW through the stellar spectral types.
