This paper examines "Difference in Requests." The study of speech acts is a crucial area in sociolinguistics and ethnolinguistics, and has aided in the development of TESOL. It also provides a useful means of relating linguistic form and communicative intent. This paper concentrated on 3 request strategies, which were requests made with an explanation, requests made without an explanation and no requests. The purpose of this study, and of concern in TESOL, was to discover whether Koreans framed their requests differently under different conditions. Based on these differences, I wanted to ascertain whether Koreans who spoke English as a second language, and who have lived in the United States, frame their requests as they would in their native tongues thus creating the potential for sociolinguistic failure, or use American sociolinguistic style. As the results of the study, it was found that in the majority of cases, Americans made an explanation with a request. In many cases the Koreans living in Korea would not give an explanation when making a request. Rather, they were direct in request. In many cases the Korean speaking English and living in the US had adopted the American request strategy of giving an explanation.

This empirical research aims to identify and compare key success factors in Computer Aided Design (CAD) education in Korea, Japan, Germany and USA. Employing a couple of statistical methods (multiple regression and factor analysis) on survey data, it was found that the decisive factors in the CAD education differed among four countries. Generally speaking, however, educational methods are less important than educational conditions, of which professors and educational environment are dominant factors. This implies that the so called constructivistic way of teaching/learning is not so effective as expected. In order to improve educational performance in Korea, as far as CAD education is concerned, professors need to enhance relationship with industry and universities to support more hardware and software.
Speaking in general terms the form injection process can be described as a new process-variant of already known structural foam molding technology which roots go back to the early sixties. The most limiting factors of already know foaming processes are large cell size and the lack of uniformity of these cells as well and the inability to foam all kinds of plastic materials. In this paper, Process Study on weight change in injection rate during foaming. Experimental conditions were set as the injection speed 50,150,300 and 450 mm/s. The experiments PA, PA+GF, PP, was confirmed that the weight increase to PP+TA.

Previously, laryngectomized patients can achieve speech with tracheoesophageal device. Tracheoesophageal speech is currently one of the best methods of postlaryngectomy voice rehabilitation. But, tracheoesophageal speakers have some troublesome with digital occlusion of tracheostoma in every speaking time. Therefore, the tracheostoma valve has been introduced since 1982, and this valve could eliminate the need of tracheostoma digital occlusion. Currently, couple of tracheostoma valves has been introduced and developed. In this article, we introduced the 3 representative tracheostoma valves. Also, we discussed their use and characteristics. Traditionally the tracheostoma valve is used in total laryngectomized patients. We introduced one case using a tracheostoma valve after near total laryngectomy. Advantage and disadvantage of Blom-Singer valve and BIVONA II valve during using in this patients are discussed.
The purpose of this study is to analysis the influence in furniture and interior design of pop design. Pop design is a trend which was in fashion for a short time between 1950s and 1960s. It is an experimental transient form in a flow of postmodernism. Through such a trend, we can analogize an idea and values of people speaking for a rapid change of society and culture chat that time. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine what environment of society and culture and what idea had an effect on people at that time. Also, the study will examine how the above had an effect on interior design and furniture design. Considering the above results, the study will examine an influence and meaning of pop design in design history. According to the result of analysis, characteristic of pop design is anti-modern, expendability, future mood.
Prosodic characteristics of natural speech, especially intonation, in many cases represent specific feelings of the speaker at the time of the utterance, with relatively vast variations of speaking styles over the same text. We analyzed a collected speech corpus, recorded with ten Slovene speakers. Interpretation of observed intonation contours was done for the purpose of modelling the intonation contour in synthesis process. We devised a scheme for modeling the intonation contour for different types of intonation units based on the results of analyzing intonation contours. The intonation scheme uses a superpositional approach, which defines the intonation contour as the sum of global (intonation unit) and local (accented syllables or syntactic boundaries) components. Near-to-natural intonation contour was obtained by rules, using only the text of the utterance as input.
Syntactic ambiguity can be understood by context usually, especially in reading and writing. Because phonological structure including stress, intonation and phonological phenomena can be pronounced differently according to different syntactic structures, syntactic ambiguity can be solved by phonological structure in listening and speaking. The objectives of this study was to survey how Korean English teachers apply phonological structures in order to solve syntactic ambiguity. The results of this study is as follows: First, Korean English leachers applied Compound Stress Rules well, when the second word was not branched. But they did not apply Compound Stress Rules well, when the second word was branched. Second, several Korean English teachers did not apply Nuclear Stress Rules well. They usually put the strongest stress on the first word. Third Korean English teachers did not differentiate appropriate applying situation of palatalization. They applied palatalization at both the single and the separated Phonological Phrase. Fourth, Korean English teachers did not apply stress shifting when stress crash happened. Because they did not apply stress shifting, they put the strongest stress on inappropriate syllable.
Young children's speech is compared to adult-to-adult speech and adult-to-child speech by measuring durations and variability of each segment in CVC words. The results demonstrate that child speech exhibits an inconsistent timing relationship between consonants and vowels within a word. In contrast, consonant and vowel durations in adult-to-adult speech and adult-to-child speech exhibit significant relationships across segments, despite variability of segments when speaking rate is decreased. The results suggest that temporal patterns of young children are quite different from those of adults, and provide some evidence for lack of motor control capability and great variance in articulatory coordination.

To develop the code of predicting flow-field and aeroacoustic noise by a electrical cable, a combined CFD-acoustic analogy approach is selected. The two-dimensional, unsteady, incompressible Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes solver with a ${\kappa}{\omega}$, ${\kappa}{\omega}$ SST turbulence modeling is used to calculate the near-field around electrical cable. Near-field results are then coupled with two-dimensional Curle's integral formulation based upon Lighthill's acoustic analogy with an assumption of acoustic compactness. To validate this code, numerical results are compared with experimental data for a circular cylinder. The simulation shows an overprediction on acoustic amplitudes, but overally speaking, the spectrum pattern of sound pressure agrees well with experiment in an acceptable amount of error. In addition, various cross sections of a cable were selected and compared with each other in terms of drag and radiated noise.
A survey on images and consumption for instant food for 419 housewives in Kyung-ki do were summarized as follows: 1) The thought of housewives takes 'convenient' as the best advantage in the image on instant food, generally speaking,'preference', 'hygienic concern' and 'eating frequently’ are moderate, while 'good for health' is shown with the lowest points. 2) The reasons why they take instant food are ascribed to the taste of the children by 63.6%, to 'convenient to cook' by 19.6%. 3) The reasons why they do not use instant food are attributed to 'bad for health’by 46.9% to 'too expensive' by 29.9%, and to 'doubtful in quality' by 16.3% 4) Instant noodle (Ramyun) and bread are consumed the most, and then consumption is shown from high to low in order of tomato-ketchup, ham, mayonnaise, instant liver and sausage. 5) Effects on purchasing instant food come from the date of manufacturing 43%, trade mark 24% the experience of previous use as high as 21.2%.
