Purpose: In this study, we examine the effects of circulatory diseases mortality in South Korea 2005-2013 using the air pollution index, Methods: We cluster the region of high risk mortality by SaTScan$^{TM}$9.3.1 and compare this result with the regional distribution of air pollution. We use the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) to consider the spatial heterogeneity of data collected by administrative district in order to estimate the model. As GWR is spatial analysis techniques utilizing the spatial information, regression model estimated for each region on the assumption that regression coefficients are different by region. Results: As a result of estimating model of the collected air pollution index, circulatory diseases mortality data combined with the spatial information, GWR was found to solve the problem of spatial autocorrelation and increase the fit of the model than OLS regression model. Conclusion: GWR is used to select the air pollution affecting the disease each year, the K-means cluster analysis discover the characteristics of the distribution of air pollution by region.
When analyzing geographical phenomena, two properties need to be considered. One is the spatial dependence structure and the other is a variation or an uncertainty inhibited in a geographic space. Two problems are encountered due to the properties. Firstly, spatial dependence structure, which is conceptualized as spatial autocorrelation, generates heterogeneous geographic landscape in a spatial process. Secondly, generic statistics, although suitable for dealing with stochastic uncertainty, tacitly ignores location information im plicit in spatial data. GIS is a versatile tool for manipulating locational information, while spatial statistics are suitable for investigating spatial uncertainty. Therefore, integrating spatial statistics to GIS is considered as a plausible strategy for appropriately understanding geographic phenomena of interest. Geographic hot-spot analysis is a key tool for identifying abnormal locations in many domains (e.g., criminology, epidemiology, etc.) and is one of the most prominent applications by utilizing the integration strategy. The article aims at reviewing spatial statistical perspective for analyzing spatial processes in the framework of GIS by carrying out empirical analysis. Illustrated is the analysis procedure of using spatial scan statistic for detecting clusters in the framework of GIS. The empirical analysis targets for identifying spatial clusters of breast cancer incidents in Erie and Niagara counties, New York.

The spatial population existing in a plane ares, such as an animal or aerial population, have certain relationships among regions which are located within a fixed distance from one selected region. We consider with the adaptive searching estimation in spatial sampling for a spatial population. The adaptive searching estimation depends on values of sample points during the survey and on the nature of the surfaces under investigation. In this paper we study the estimation by the adaptive searching in a spatial sampling for the purpose of estimating the area possessing a particular characteristic in a spatial population. From the viewpoint of adaptive searching, we empirically compare systematic sampling with stratified sampling in spatial sampling through the simulation data.
Various statistical models have been proposed over the last decade for spatially correlated Gaussian outcomes. The spatial linear mixed model (SLMM), which incorporates a spatial effect as a random component to the linear model, is the one of the most widely used approaches in various application contexts. Employing link functions, SLMM can be naturally extended to spatial generalized linear mixed model for non-Gaussian outcomes (SGLMM). We review popular SGLMMs on non-Gaussian spatial outcomes and demonstrate their applications with available public data.
Autologistic lattice process is used to model binary spatial data. A conditional probability is derived for the incomplete data where the lattice consists of partially yet systematically observed sites. This result, which is interesting in its own right, is in turn applied to area prediction in the plane.
This paper considers a linear regression model with space and time data in where the disturbances follow spatially correlated error components. We provide the best linear unbiased predictor for the one way error components. We provide the best linear unbiased predictor for the one way error component model with spatial autocorrelation. Further, we derive two diagnostic test statistics for the assessment of model specification due to spatial dependence and random effects as an application of the Lagrange Multiplier principle.
Among the small area estimation methods, it has been known that hierarchical Bayesian(HB) approach is the most reasonable and effective method. However any model based approaches need good explanatory variables and finding them is the key role in the model based approach. As the lacking of explanatory variables, adopting the spatial terms in the model was introduced. Here in this paper, we evaluate the model based methods with/without spatial terms using the diagnostic methods which were introduced by Brown et al. (2001). And Economic Active Population Survey(2005) is used for data analysis.

A spatial time series model was used for analyzing the method of spatial time series (not the ARIMA model that is popular for analyzing spatial time series) by using chicken pox data which is a highly contagious disease and grid data due to ARIMA not reflecting the spatial processes. Time series model contains a weighting matrix, because that spatial time series model influences the time variation as well as the spatial location. The weighting matrix reflects that the more geographically contiguous region has the higher spatial dependence. It is hypothesized that the weighting matrix gives neighboring areas the same influence in the study of the spatial time series model. Therefore, we try to present the conclusion with a weighting matrix in a way that gives the same weight to existing neighboring areas in the study of the suitability of the STARMA model, spatial time series model and STBL model, in the comparative study of the predictive power for statistical inference, and the results. Furthermore, through the Kalman-Filter method we try to show the superiority of the Kalman-Filter method through a parameter assumption and the processes of prediction.
As the digital retail environement becomes prevalent, consumers are given greater opportunities to make purchases across physical and digital boundaries. Prior research emphasizes that the attractiveness of the digital or online channel is relatively determined by spatial specifics of physical locations. The overall market trend combined with prior research suggests that understanding spatial specifics becomes a key to managing both offline and online sales performance together. In this study, we focus on geographic variation in sales performance through offline and online channels and aim to investigate the channel-level sales difference between central and subsidiary areas. To this end, we obtain sales data of skincare and makeup products from a leading cosmetic company. Next, we examine spatial autocorrelations in data and then employ the spatial error models to study the effects of spatial specifics. The empirical findings are as follows. First, there are significant differences in category-specific and channel-level sales between central and subsidiary areas. Second, Moran's I statistics demonstrate the spatial autocorrelations of each variable. Third, spatial error models outperform simple regression models with lower AIC values. Finally, spatial specifics play a greater role in understanding online sales in subsidiary areas whereas they exert greater influence on offline sales in central areas. We believe our study advances the related theory and knowledge of multi-channel retailing and also contributes practically to location-dependent multi-channel strategies and sales data analytics.

In this study we predict apartment prices per unit in Daegu-Gyeongbuk areas by spatial lag and spatial error models, both of which belong to so-called spatial regression model. A spatial weight matrix is constructed by k-nearest neighbours method and then the models for the apartment prices in March, 2012 are fitted using the weight matrix. The apartment prices in March, 2013 are predicted by the fitted spatial regression models and then performances of two spatial regression models are compared by RMSE (root mean squared error), RRMSE (root relative mean squared error), MAE (mean absolute error).
