Study on the Method to Create a Pedestrian Network and Path using Navigation Data for Vehicles (차량용 내비게이션 데이터를 이용한 보행 네트워크 및 경로 생성 기법)

  • In recent years, with increasing utilization of mobile devices such as smartphones, the need for PNS(Pedestrian Navigation Systems) that provide guidance for moving pedestrians is increasing. For the navigation services, road network is the most important component when it comes to creating route and guidance information. In particular, pedestrian network requires modeling methods for more detailed and vast space compared to road network. Therefore, more efficient method is needed to establish pedestrian network that was constructed by existing field survey and manual editing process. This research proposed a pedestrian network creation method appropriate for pedestrians, based on CNS(Car Navigation Systems) data that already has been broadly constructed. Pedestrian network was classified into pedestrian link(sidewalk, side street, walking facility) and openspace link depending on characteristics of walking space, and constructed by applying different methodologies in order to create path that similar to the movements of actual pedestrians. The proposed algorithm is expected to become an alternative for reducing the time and cost of pedestrian network creation.

Extraction of Landmarks for Pedestrian Navigation System (보행자 내비게이션 시스템을 위한 랜드마크 추출 방법)

  • This study is to extract landmark buildings for pedestrian navigation from the existing spatial data sets automatically. At first, we defined candidates for landmark based on sight of pedestrian, then extracted final landmark by evaluating attributes of each candidate. The attribute is evaluated with relative or absolute criteria depending on the nature of each attribute. Landmarks extracted through the proposed method are compared to existing landmarks for vehicle and assessment of the validity and the applicability is performed. As a result, extracted Landmarks are expected to help guiding pedestrian effectively.

  • Digital road map - which plays an essential role in giving accurate location of the vehicle, optimum route guidance, destination searching, and topographic feature query functions - is the most fundamental element of the vehicle navigation system. Unfortunately, there is not a nation-wide digital map in Korea such as U.S. TIGER fie, that is easily applied to digital road database production. Therefore, producing new digital road map is inevitable in Korea For establishing digital road map for vehicle navigation, this paper puts forth the necessary condition to stabilize the digital road map qualify, and to keep up the compatibility and the economical use. As a result, the standards of coordinate and map accuracy arc presented, and the Items and the structures of database arc decided.

A Study on Compact Network RTK for Land Vehicles and Real-Time Test Results

  • In recent years, the need of high accuracy navigation for vehicles has increased due to the development of autonomous driving vehicles and increase in land transportation convenience. This study is performed for vehicle users to achieve a performance of centimeter-level positioning accuracy by utilizing Compact Network Real-time Kinematic (RTK) that is applicable as a national-level infrastructure. To this end, medium-baseline RTK was implemented in real time to estimate accurate integer ambiguities between reference stations for reliable generation of Network RTK correction using the linear combination of carrier-phase observations and L1/L2 pseudo-range measurements. The residual tropospheric error was estimated in real time to improve the accuracy of double-differenced integer ambiguity resolution between network configuration reference stations that have at least 30 km or longer baseline distance. In addition, C++ based software was developed to enable real-time generation and broadcasting of Compact Network RTK correction information by utilizing an accurately estimated double-differenced integer ambiguity values. As a result, the horizontal and vertical 95% accuracy was 2.5cm and 5.2cm, respectively, without performance degradation due to user's position change within the network.

A Study on the Obtaining Navigation and Geo-Spatial Information Using WADGPS

  • Recently, a lot of interest focuses on DGPS with which it is possible to obtain 3D geographic information in real time. There are some methods to transmit corrected signals which use ground based systems as beacon, as well as wireless and TV broadcasting media. However, these methods require a large number of stations. Therefore, when the distance from station to user is increased, there is a range limit to the transmission of corrected signals. In order to solve these problems, WADGPS method using Geo-satellite is being investigated. In this study, static and kinematic tests were performed by using Satloc SLX WADGPS and Ashtech receivers. The results showed that SA was affected most among corrected signals of WADGPS; it was followed by ionospheric delay, tropospheric delay and satellite orbit errors. The accuracy of static observation was approx. $\pm$1m on SA-on. This was ten times as accurate as that of absolute observation by common receiver on SA-off. In the SA-off, the accuracy of WADGPS can be improved further. The result of kinematic tests by WADGPS acted in concert with that of standard DGPS by C/A code. It was concluded that the application of W ADGPS could improve considerably navigation and the construction of geographic information.

  • New geocentric geodetic datum has recently been realized in Korea, Korean Geodetic Datum 2002- KGD2002, to overcome problems due to the existing Tokyo datum, which had been used in this country since early 20th century. This transition will support modern surveying techniques, such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and ensures that spatial data is compatible with other international systems. For this realization, very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations were initially carried out in 1995 to determine the coordinates of the origin of KGD2002 based on the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). Continuous GPS observations were collected from 14 reference stations across Korea to compute the coordinates of 1st order horizontal geodetic control points. During the campaign, GPS observations were also collected at about 9,000 existing geodetic control points. In 2006, network adjustment with all data obtained using GPS and EDM since 1975 has been performed under the condition of fixing the coordinates of GPS continuous observation stations to compute coordinate measurements of the 2nd and 3rd geodetic control points.   • In this paper, we developed the prototype of Car Navigation Information System which uses GPS to determine the current location. Car Navigation Information System is the one which can determine and display the current location and direction through the display monitor, search the destination point, calculate and check out the shortest path to the destination. The system we developed can determine the current location using GPS data, search the destination point in various ways, calculate the shortest path, serve the driver all the above mentioned data, and display the raster and vector data. To testify the system, we made the vectorized data about Taejeon area. Then we testified the system performance by installing the system to the notebook computer.

  • The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been used as a tool to accurately extract the Total Electron Content (TEC) in the ionosphere. The multi-GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS) constellations bring new opportunities for ionospheric research. In this study, we develop a regional ionospheric TEC model using GPS, Galileo, and QZSS measurements. To develop an ionospheric model covering the Asia-Oceania region, we select 13 International GNSS Service (IGS) stations. The ionospheric model applies the spherical harmonic expansion method and has a spatial resolution of 2.5°×2.5° and a temporal resolution of one hour. GPS TEC, Galileo TEC, and QZSS TEC are investigated from January 1 to January 31, 2024. Different TEC values are in good agreement with each other. In addition, we compare the QZSS(J07) TEC and the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE) Global Ionosphere Map (GIM) TEC. The results show that the QZSS TEC estimated in the study coincides closely with the CODE GIM TEC.

  • 지형 참조 항법(TRN, Terrain reference navigation)은 항체에 탑재된 지형 데이터베이스와 센서로부터 측정된 고도값을 대조하여 항체의 위치를 알아내는 것으로, GPS/INS 결합항법 시스템의 대체 항법으로 많이 알려져 있다. 지형의 형태에 따라서 시스템의 정확도와 안정성이 달라지기 때문에 특정적인 지형 정보를 이용하여 지형 데이터베이스와 대조하는 과정이 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 센서 측정값과 지형 데이터베이스 상의 값에서 지형의 특성적 변화가 발생하는 지점인 Model Key Point를 2D Douglas-Peucker 알고리즘을 이용하여 추출하고 이를 항법 알고리즘에 적용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 그 결과 오차가 발산하지 않고 수십m 급의 항법 정밀도를 얻을 수 있었다.

Development of 3-D viewer for indoor location tracking system using wireless sensor network

  • In this paper we present 3-D Navigation View, a three-dimensional visualization of indoor environment which serves as an intuitive and unified user interface for our developed indoor location tracking system via Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) in web environment. The extracted user's spatial information from indoor location tracking system was further processed to facilitate the location indication in virtual 3-D indoor environment based on his location in physical world. External Authoring Interface (EAI) provided by VRML enables the integration of interactive 3-D graphics into web and direct communication with the encapsulated Java applet to update position and viewpoint of user periodically in 3-D indoor environment. As any web browser with VRML viewer plug-in is able to run the platform independent 3-D Navigation View, specialized and expensive hardware or software can be disregarded.
