지도 일반화 알고리듬의 임계값 설정에 따른 소축척 지도 제작의 효용성 연구 (A Study on the Effectiveness of Small-scale Maps Production Based on Tolerance Changes of Map Generalization Algorithm)

  • Recently, various geographic information systems have been used based on spatial information of geographic information systems. Accordingly, it is essential to produce a large-scale map as a small-scale map for various uses of spatial information. However, maps currently being produced have inconsistencies between data due to production timing and limitations in expression, and productivity efficiency is greatly reduced due to errors in products or overlapping processes. In order to improve this, various efforts are being made, such as publishing research and reports for automating domestic mapping, but because there is no specific result, it relies on editors to make maps. This is mainly done by hand, so the time required for mapping is excessive, and quality control for each producer is different. In order to solve these problems, technology that can be automatically produced through computer programs is needed. Research has been conducted to apply the rule base to geometric generalization. The algorithm tolerance setting applied to rule-based modeling is a factor that greatly affects the result, and the level of the result changes accordingly. In this paper, we tried to study the effectiveness of mapping according to tolerance setting. To this end, the utility was verified by comparing it with a manually produced map. In addition, the original data and reduction rate were analyzed by applying generalization algorithms and tolerance values. Although there are some differences by region, it was confirmed that the complexity decreased on average. Through this, it is expected to contribute to the use of spatial information-based services by improving tolerances suitable for small-scale mapping regulations in order to secure spatial information data that guarantees consistency and accuracy.

Stochastic response of suspension bridges for various spatial variability models

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare the structural responses obtained from the stochastic analysis of a suspension bridge subjected to uniform and partially correlated seismic ground motions, using different spatial correlation functions commonly used in the earthquake engineering. The spatial correlation function employed in this study consists of a term that characterizes the loss of coherency. To account for the spatial variability of ground motions, the widely used four loss of coherency models in the literature has been taken into account in this study. Because each of these models has its own characteristics, it is intended to determine the sensitivity of a suspension bridge due to these losses of coherency models which represent the spatial variability of ground motions. Bosporus Suspension Bridge connects Europe to Asia in Istanbul is selected as a numerical example. The bridge has steel towers that are flexible, inclined hangers and a steel box-deck of 1074 m main span, with side spans of 231 and 255 m on the European and Asian sides, respectively. For the ground motion the filtered white noise model is considered and applied in the vertical direction, the intensity parameter of this model is obtained by using the S16E component of Pacoima Dam record of 1971 San Fernando earthquake. An analytically simple model called as filtered white noise ground motion model is chosen to represent the earthquake ground motion. When compared with the uniform ground motion case, the results obtained from the spatial variability models with partial correlation outline the necessity to include the spatial variability of ground motions in the stochastic dynamic analysis of suspension bridges. It is observed that while the largest response values are obtained for the model proposed by Harichandran and Vanmarcke, the model proposed by Uscinski produces the smallest responses among the considered partially correlated ground motion models. The response values obtained from the uniform ground motion case are usually smaller than those of the responses obtained from the partially correlated ground motion cases. While the response values at the flexible parts of the bridge are totally dominated by the dynamic component, the pseudo-static component also has significant contributions for the response values at the rigid parts of the bridge. The results also show the consistency of the spatial variability models, which have different characteristics, considered in this study.

위성기반 해빙 농도 산출물들의 품질 일관성 분석 (Quality Consistence Analysis of Satellite-based Sea Ice Concentration Products)

  • 본 연구에서는 산출 방법에 따른 해빙 자료 간의 차이를 조사하기 위하여 1980-2010년 북극 지역의 EUMETSAT OSI SAF, NASA Team(NT)의 해빙 농도와 해빙 면적의 차이를 비교하였다. 그 결과 두 자료의 해빙 농도와 해빙 면적이 계절별, 해역별로 다른 일관성을 보였다. 계절별로는 OSI SAF의 해빙 농도가 전체적으로 0.85 %, 봄 0.48 %, 여름 0.97 %, 가을 1.38 %, 겨울 0.66 % 높게 나타났다. 해역별로는 북극해에서 OSI SAF의 해빙 농도가 2.7 %, 해빙 면적이 19.8만 $km^2$ 높았으나 링컨해 일부에서는 해빙 농도가 2.3 %, 해빙 면적이 2만 $km^2$ 낮게 나타났다.

GOES-9과 MTSAT-1R 위성 간의 일사량 산출의 연속성과 일관성 확보를 위한 구름 감쇠 계수의 조정 (An Adjustment of Cloud Factors for Continuity and Consistency of Insolation Estimations between GOES-9 and MTSAT-1R)

  • 표면도달일사량은 전 지구시스템에 대한 기후 연구에 가장 중요한 요소 중 하나다. 기후 연구에서는 동일 지역을 관측하는 두 개 혹은 그 이상의 위성자료로부터 넓은 공간적 범위를 가지는 장기간의 데이터를 사용하는 것이 필요하다. 시간적 연속성을 가지는 서로 다른 위성으로부터 산출 된 표면도달일사량의 연속성과 일관성을 향상시키는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 물리적 모델을 이용하여 GOES-9과 MTSAT-1R 위성의 중복 관측 기간 동안의 표면도달일사량을 산출하고, 두 위성의 채널자료와 실측치 비교를 통해 위성간의 연속성과 일관성을 향상시키는 방법을 연구하였다. 두 위성의 적외 채널 온도는 매우 잘 일치하는 경향을 보였다 : RMSE=5.595 Kelvin; Bias=2.065 Kelvin. 반면에, 가시채널은 다른 값의 분포를 보였지만 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 그리고 두 위성으로부터 산출 된 표면도달일사량은 실측치와 일치성이 낮았다. 표면도달일사량의 품질 향상을 위해 구름감쇠계수 조정을 통해 표면도달일사량 산출물을 재생산하였다. 그리고 채널 자료의 비교 분석을 통해 GOES-9 위성을 위한 구름감쇠계수를 생산하였다. 그 결과, 구름 효과를 고려한 GOES-9의 표면도달일사량 산출물은 MTSAT-1R과 실측치에 대해 매우 높은 일치성을 보였다 : RMSE=$83.439W\;m^{-2}$; Bias=$27.296W\;m^{-2}$. 구름감쇠계수 조정을 통해 향상 된 정확도는 두 개 이상의 위성으로부터 산출 된 표면도달일사량 산출물의 연속성과 일관성을 향상 시킬 수 있을 것이다.

리차드 마이어(Richard Meier)의 미술관건축 공간구성 특성연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Space Organization of Richard Meier′s Museum Project)

  • This study is focused on three major museum projects completed during 1990's by Richard Meier who is known as the romantic modernist as well as one of the architects who continue their devotion on completing the fourth dimensional spatial concept through the practice. Main focus of the study will be analyzing the space and design elements shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Barcelona, Spain, 1986-95), Museum of Television & Radio (Beverly Hills, CA., 1994-96) and the Getty Center(Los Angeles, CA., 1984-97), and find out the new meaning of museum design suggested by the architect. The analyzation was done based on the actual sight visits and through the acquired references. The museum designs done by Richard Meier show consistency between visual language, use of 'light, space and form' as the design elements to connect interior and exterior to create openness and harmony with surrounding condition. Additionally, greatness of the architectural elevation, efficient use of interconnecting space, adoption of natural light, affective use of the space, careful consideration to the exhibiting items, spread of information centers, balance between large and small exhibition spaces, and his concept on providing choices to the viewer within the museum are the main issues in designing the museum in order to give various spatial experience to the visitors.

수치지도 검수방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Inspection of Digital Maps)

  • 국가 GIS 구축사업의 일환으로 지형도를 비롯한 여러 가지 주제들이 수치지도로 구축되어왔다. 이렇게 구축된 수치지도는 사용하고자 하는 목적에 맞게 올바르게 구축되어 그 정확도를 신뢰할 수 있을 경우에만 효율적으로 사용될 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 양질의 수치지도를 구축하는데 필요한 합리적인 검수방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 국내·외에서 요구되는 수치지도의 품질요소와 검수현황을 살펴보았고, 수치지도에서 발생하는 오류유형을 분석했다. 이러한 오류유형을 바탕으로 데이터생성연혁, 데이트포맷, 위치정확성, 속성정확성, 기하구조의 적합성, 논리적 일관성, 경계인접, 완전성, 도곽선 범위의 9가지 기존을 마련한 뒤 작업계획, 오류유형 정의, 납품내역검수, 육안중첩검수, 현지조사검수, 전산정밀검수, 자동검수, 검수결과판정, 검수결과해석으로 이어지는 9단계의 체계적인 다단계 검수절차를 제안하였다.

  • This paper introduces the optimum macro-siting of a potential site for an offshore wind farm around Jeju Island using the RDAPS sea wind model. The statistical model was developed by analyzing the sea wind data from RDAPS model, and the meso-scale digital wind map was prepared. To develop the high resolution spatial calibration model, Artificial Neural Network(ANN) models were used to construct the wind and bathymetric maps. Accuracy and consistency of wind/bathymetric spatial calibration models were obtained using analysis of variance. The optimization problem was defined to maximize the energy density satisfying the criteria of maximum water depth and maximum distance from the coastline. The candidate site was selected through Genetic Algorithm(GA). From the results, it is possible to predict roughly a candidate site location for the installation of the offshore wind jam, and to evaluate the wind resources of the proposed site.

차량측량시스템을 위한 코드 타겟 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of New Coded Targets for a Mobile Mapping System)

  • 본 연구에서는 차량측량시스템에 사용할 수 있는 코드(Coded) 타겟을 설계, 제작하고 이를 자동으로 식별하고 타겟 중심의 영상좌표를 획득하는 방법을 개발하였다. 차량측량시스템은 CCD, GPS, INS 장비를 통합 탑재하여 도로상에 존재하는 시설물과 노면에 대한 3차원 정보를 획득할 수 있는 시스템이다. 차량측량시스템은 특성상 카메라 검교정과 외부표정을 위해서 미리 설치된 타겟을 사용하며 표정작업을 위한 영상좌표 획득은 수동에 의한 방법이 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 코드 타겟을 사용하며 타겟의 자기인식(Self-Identifying)을 통해 각 영상에서 관측된 타겟을 하나의 공액점으로 인식 가능하고 자동으로 타겟 중심의 영상점 획득이 가능하다. 이처럼 자동화된 타겟 관측 및 영상점 획득이 가능하다면 차량측량시스템의 카메라 검교정 및 외부표정을 작업의 효율성을 향상시키고 영상좌표 획득의 일관성을 유지하는데 매우 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

A Coherent Algorithm for Noise Revocation of Multispectral Images by Fast HD-NLM and its Method Noise Abatement

  • Numerous spatial and transform-domain-based conventional denoising algorithms struggle to keep critical and minute structural features of the image, especially at high noise levels. Although neural network approaches are effective, they are not always reliable since they demand a large quantity of training data, are computationally complicated, and take a long time to construct the model. A new framework of enhanced hybrid filtering is developed for denoising color images tainted by additive white Gaussian Noise with the goal of reducing algorithmic complexity and improving performance. In the first stage of the proposed approach, the noisy image is refined using a high-dimensional non-local means filter based on Principal Component Analysis, followed by the extraction of the method noise. The wavelet transform and SURE Shrink techniques are used to further culture this method noise. The final denoised image is created by combining the results of these two steps. Experiments were carried out on a set of standard color images corrupted by Gaussian noise with multiple standard deviations. Comparative analysis of empirical outcome indicates that the proposed method outperforms leading-edge denoising strategies in terms of consistency and performance while maintaining the visual quality. This algorithm ensures homogeneous noise reduction, which is almost independent of noise variations. The power of both the spatial and transform domains is harnessed in this multi realm consolidation technique. Rather than processing individual colors, it works directly on the multispectral image. Uses minimal resources and produces superior quality output in the optimal execution time.

Pyramidal Deep Neural Networks for the Accurate Segmentation and Counting of Cells in Microscopy Data

  • Cell segmentation and counting represent one of the most important tasks required in order to provide an exhaustive understanding of biological images. Conventional features suffer the lack of spatial consistency by causing the joining of the cells and, thus, complicating the cell counting task. We propose, in this work, a cascade of networks that take as inputs different versions of the original image. After constructing a Gaussian pyramid representation of the microscopy data, the inputs of different size and spatial resolution are given to a cascade of deep convolutional autoencoders whose task is to reconstruct the segmentation mask. The coarse masks obtained from the different networks are summed up in order to provide the final mask. The principal and main contribution of this work is to propose a novel method for the cell counting. Unlike the majority of the methods that use the obtained segmentation mask as the prior information for counting, we propose to utilize the hidden latent representations, often called the high-level features, as the inputs of a neural network based regressor. While the segmentation part of our method performs as good as the conventional deep learning methods, the proposed cell counting approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.
