전기전도성 이방성 복합재료 방전가공의 수치 해석 (Numerical Analysis of the Electro-discharge Machining Process of a Conductive Anisotropic Composite)

  • 전기전도성 이방성 복합재료의 방전가공에 대하여 비정상상태 수식모델을 세우고 갤러킨의 유한요소법으로 해를 구하였다. 피삭재의 온도 분포와 분화구의 모양 및 공작물 제거 속도를 공정 매개변수에 관하여 구득하였다. 계산의 정확도와 효율을 위하여 앞선 연구에서 최적치로 선정된 $12{\times}12$ 요소의 비규칙 체눈을 사용하였다. 알루미나/티타늄 카바이드 복합재료의 물성을 재료의 물성으로 선정하였고 51.4 V의 전압과 7 A의 전류를 갖는 전력을 적용하였으며 제거 효율을 10%로 전열 이방성 계수를 2와 3으로 가정하였다. 불꽃이 일어나면서 피삭재는 즉시 녹기 시작하였고 열적 손상 영역이 형성되었다. 또한 시간이 흘러감에 따라서 분화구의 경계가 이동하는 것이 확인되었다. 반경 방향과 축 방향의 열전도도가 독립적으로 커지면 온도분포와 분화구의 모양이 각각 반경 방향과 축 방향으로 이동하였다. 공작물 제거 속도는 축 방향의 열전도도보다 반경 방향의 열전도도가 증가할 때 더욱 커지는 것으로 나타났다.

  • An absolutely passive fit at the interface with the superstructure and the abutment cylinders is need for implant longevity. In this study, a method of cast framework correction using spark erosion technology was evaluated. Electric discharge machining(EDM) is a process that uses electrical discharges, or sparks, to machine metal, The surface being machined is bombared with high-intensity electrical energy pulses that gradually melt away the stock until the desired configuration is obtained. Master model was fabricated by using metal block impression analogue, which fired 5 Branemark squared impression coping in an arc shaped metal block. Then framework using 4mm standard gold cylinder and type IV gold alloy was fabricated. In order to measure the fit of the framework we used both contact and noncontact coordinate measurement machine and data was processed by computer program. After superimposition of gold framework and master model numeric image data the distances between gold cylinder bearing surfaces and abutment replica bearing surfaces, and the angle deviations between gold cylinder and abutment replica centroid points were calculated. The results were as follows 1 The total mean distance (p<0.01) and standard deviation (p<0.001) between the gold cylinders and abutment bearing surfaces were significantly decreased after EDM 2. The total mean of maximum distances was significantly decreased after EDM (p<0.05). 3. After EDM, the mean angle deviation between centroid points was decreased.

  • This study describes the minimum ignition limit for LPG-Ai-r mixtures by switching sparks in radio-frequency limits using RF power supply and IEC type ignition spark apparatus. As a result, the minimum ignition limit voltage is increased in proportional to the rate of increasing of frequency in LPG-Air mixed gas. Especially, increment between 10[kHz] and 30[kHz] is typical. It is considered that ignition is caused by one discharge until 10 [kHz] and, beyond 10[kHz] ignition is caused by more than two discharges. The reason is analysed that energy loss is caused by existing pause interval between discharges.

Transesterification of Vegetable Oils in Pulsed-Corona Plasma Discharge Process

  • The biodiesel production characteristics in a pulsed-corona plasma reactor has been investigated through parametric tests. Transesterification of rapeseed oil together with camelina oil was done with the change of such variables as voltage of power, molar ratio, KOH catalyst and temperature. The energetic electrons emitted from pulsed-corona plasma has contributed to the enhancement of yield on rapeseed oil in short time (15 min). The higher yield on camelina oil was observed in 5 min. The optimal parameters were shown as the voltage of 23 kV, the molar ratio of 5/1, the content of KOH catalyst of 0.6 wt% and the temperature of $28^{\circ}C$ under the rotating rate of spark gap of 900 rpm.

  • Micro EDM process is generally used for machining microholes, cavities, and three dimensional shapes. For machining micro structures, first of all, micro tool electrode is indispensable and WEDG system is proposed for tool fabrication method. When using WEDG, its machining characteristics are highly affected by many EDM parameters such as applied voltage, current, rotation speed, capacitance, and pulse duration. Therefore, the design of experiment is introduced to fully understand the effect of the EDM parameters on machining tool electrode. And an attempt has been made to develop the mathematical model for predicting the size of the tool electrode by calculating spark distance. The suggested model was verified with experiment and predicted working gap distance is in good accord with the measured value.

소결방법에 따른 다공성 티타늄 임플란트의 기계적 특성 (Mechanical property of porous Ti implants by sintering method)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to compare mechanical properties for sintering methods of porous Ti implants. Methods: The specimens of Ti implant were fabricated by several sintering methods. One of them is spark plasma sintering(SPS). Another is electro discharge singering(EDS) and the other is high vacuum sintering(HVS). Mechanical properties of porous Ti implants were evaluated by universal testing machine(UTM) and their fracture surface was examined under a sanning electron microscope(SEM). Results: The tensile strength was in a range of 71 to 230 MPa, and Young's modulus was in a range of 11 to 21 Gpa. It matched with range of cortical bone. Conclusion: Mechanical properties of porous Ti implants were similar to human bone. It was shown that sintering methods of spherical powders can efficiently produce porous Ti implants with various porosities. Porous metals will be commonly used in orthopedic and dental application despite of initial focus has been on bioceramics.

  • 프레스 금형의 부품제작에 주로 사용되는 와이어 컷 방전가공에서 가공횟수가 펀치와 다이블록의 가공면조도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 본 연구의 수행을 위해 정밀 가공기술로 활용도가 증가되고 있는 와이어 컷 방전가공기(Sodic A500H)를 사용하여 1차, 2차, 3차 총 3회 가공을 실시하였다. 3회에 걸쳐 가공된 펀치와 다이블록의 가공면 조도 고찰을 위해 표면조도거칠기 측정기 (Federal사의 System5000)를 사용하여 연구를 수행하였다.

  • This paper describes the machining characteristics of the $MoSi_2$ based composites by electric discharge drilling with various tubular electrodes, besides, Hardness characteristics and microstructures of $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites were evaluated from the variation of fabricating conditions such as preparation temperature, applied pressure and pressure holding time. $MoSi_2$ -based composites has been developed in new materials for jet engine of supersonic-speed airplanes and gas turbine for high- temperature generator. Achieving this objective may require new hard materials with high strength and high temperature-resistance. However, With the exception of grinding, traditional machining methods are not applicable to these new materials. Electric discharge machining (EDM) is a thermal process that utilizes a spark discharge to melt a conductive material, the tool electrode being almost non-unloaded, because there is no direct contact between the tool electrode and the workpiece. By combining a nonconducting ceramics with more conducting ceramic it was possible to raise the electrical conductivity. From experimental results, it was found that the lamination from Nb sheet and $MoSi_2$ powder was an excellent strategy to improve hardness characteristics of monolithic $MoSi_2$. However, interfacial reaction products like (Nb, Mo)$SiO_2$ and $Nb_2Si_3$ formed at the interface of $Nb/MoSi_2$ and increased with fabricating temperature. $MoSi_2$ composites which a hole drilling was not possible by the conventional machining process, enhanced the capacity of ED-drilling by adding $NbSi_2$ relative to that of SiC or $ZrO_2$ reinforcements.

  • 정전기 발생에서 가장 직접적이고 주요인자는 주변 습도 상태이다. 대부분의 정전기 발생은 마찰에 의해 발생되는 마찰전기이며, 공기 중에 포함된 수분의 양에 따라 물체 주위에 하나의 얇은 전도 층을 형성하게 되어 발생하는 정전기 충전 전압을 물체 표면 전체에 흩어지게 하는 함수 역할을 하게 된다. 정전기 방전 현상은 순간적인 전압상승을 야기하며 경우에 따라서는 아주 치명적인 손상을 입히게 된다. 무기체계의 조립, 취급, 수송, 저장의 과정에서 쉽게 나타날 수 있는 정전기 방전 현상을 미연에 방지하기 위한 방법을 설계 하고 분석 한다. 이러한 방법은 각종 무기체계 개발 관련자들의 정전기 방전 보호를 위한 설계 지침을 제시하며, 정전기에 대한 대책을 수립할 수 있도록 규정과 지원을 해 줄 수 있다.

  • AC spark discharge voltage of SF6/CO2and SF6/N2 containing various mixed rate in volume percent (1, 5 and 10%) of SF6 in non-uniform fields are investigated. The needle to plane electrode gap spacing was 5 and 10 mm, and the gas pressure was varied within the range of 0.1~0.7 MPa. We have observed a N-characteristic typical for the electronegative gases even in gas mixtures of 1% SF6 with CO2 and N2 as buffer gases. Especially, the materials of the needle electrode affect the insulation properties of the gas mixtures drastically. On the contrary to the case of needle electrodes made by mild steel or high carbon steel, the N-characteristics are hardly perceived in the case of stainless steel needle in this experiment.
