The installation phase for a topside module suggested can be divided into 9 stages, which include start, pre-lifting, lifting, lifted, rotating, positioning, lowering, mating, and end of installation. The transfer of the topside module from a transport barge to a crane vessel takes place in the first three stages, from start to lifting, while the transfer of the module onto a floating spar hull occurs in the last three stages, from lowering to the end. The coupled multi-body motions are calculated in both calm water and in irregular waves with significant wave height (1.52m), with suggested force equilibrium diagrams. The effects of the hydrodynamic interactions between the crane vessel and barge during the lifting stage have been considered. The internal forces caused by the load transfer and ballasting are derived for the lifting phases. The results of these internal forces for the calm water condition are compared with those in the irregular sea condition. Although the effect of pitch motion on the relative vertical motion between the deck of the floating structure and the topside module is significant in the lifting phases, the internal force induced pitch motion is too small to show its influence. However, the effect of the internal force on the wave-induced heave responses in the lifting phases is noticeable in the irregular sea condition because the transfer mass-induced draught changes in the floating structure are observed to have higher amplitudes than the external force induced responses.
Floating structure such as tension leg platform, semi-submersible and spar are widely used in field of oil exploration and renewable energy system. All of these structures have the base cylinder support structure which have effective rule in overall dynamic of response. So the accurate and reliable modeling is needed for optimum design and understanding the physical background of these systems. The aim of this article is an analytical discussion on stochastic modeling of floating cylinder based support structure but an applicable one. Due to this a mathematical mass-damper-spring system of a floating cylinder of HAWAII WTG offshore wind as an applicable and innovative system is adopted to model a coupled degrees using random vibration in analytical way. A fully develop spectrum is adopted to solve the stochastic spectrum analytically by a proper approximation. Some acceptable assumption is adopted. The simplified but analytical and innovative hydrodynamic analysis of this study not only will help researcher to concentrate more physically on hydrodynamic analysis of floating structures but also can be useful for any quick, simplified and closed form analysis of a complicated problem in offshore engineering.
This paper presents a methodology through which the time series of the dynamic response of mooring line tension can be predicted without relying on a time-consuming nonlinear time-domain analysis. The mooring line tension for the target short-term sea states was predicted using a Hammerstein-Wiener model, a popular system identification scheme, based upon the pre-calculated motion-tension time history data for some selected short-term sea states that do not overlap with the targeted ones. The obtained mooring line tension was further processed, and a fatigue damage comparison was made between the predicted and calculated values. The results showed that the predicted time series of the mooring line tension matched the calculated one fairly well. Thus, it is expected that the methodology may be employed to enhance the efficiency of mooring line tension analysis.
This study reports the details of the finite element analysis of eleven shear critical partially prestressed concrete T-beams having steel fibers over partial or full depth. Prestressed concrete T-beams having a shear span to depth ratio of 2.65 and 1.59 and failing in the shear have been analyzed using 'ANSYS'. The 'ANSYS' model accounts for the nonlinear phenomenon, such as, bond-slip of longitudinal reinforcements, post-cracking tensile stiffness of the concrete, stress transfer across the cracked blocks of the concrete and load sustenance through the bridging of steel fibers at crack interface. The concrete is modeled using 'SOLID65'-eight-node brick element, which is capable of simulating the cracking and crushing behavior of brittle materials. The reinforcements such as deformed bars, prestressing wires and steel fibers have been modeled discretely using 'LINK8' - 3D spar element. The slip between the reinforcement (rebar, fibers) and the concrete has been modeled using a 'COMBIN39'-non-linear spring element connecting the nodes of the 'LINK8' element representing the reinforcement and nodes of the 'SOLID65' elements representing the concrete. The 'ANSYS' model correctly predicted the diagonal tension failure and shear compression failure of prestressed concrete beams observed in the experiment. The capability of the model to capture the critical crack regions, loads and deflections for various types of shear failures in prestressed concrete beam has been illustrated.
This research presents a method for the initial structural design of a multi-megawatt wind turbine blade. The structural data for a 2-MW blade were applied as the blade structural characteristic data of the reference blade. Tenkinds of blade models were newly designed by replacing the spar cap axial GRRP with a GFRP and CFRP These terms should be defined. at different orientations. The axial stiffness coefficients of the newly designed models were made equal to the coefficient of the reference blade. The required numbers of layers in each section of blades were calculated, and the lay-up designs were based on these numbers. Verification results showed that the design method that used the structural data of the reference blade was appropriate for the initial structural design of a wind turbine blade.
The oviposition behavior of Ooencyrtus kuvanae (Howard) (Hymenoptera: Encyridae) was examined in a small petri dish containing eggs of gypsy moth, Lymantrt'a dt'spar L. The behavioral sequence from initial searching movement toward the host egg through oviposition, departure, and auxiliary phase activities such as resting, glooming, and host feeding were described. Oviposition experience shortened the approach time to subsequent eggs. The time spent for contacting the host egg also decreased with oviposition experience. Oviposition experience may play an important role in host recognition and increasing oviposition efficiency.
Carbonated mineral waters fo $Ca(Mg)-HCO_3$ type spring out fissure of Jurassic granite in the valley floor of the Chungsong area. The water has been long as a Dalki medicinal water because of its unique therapeutic effect against clacium deficit, stomach and skin troubles, ect. The water has a high $CO_2$ concentration ($P_{CO_2}$=0.51~1.12atm) and exhibits strong pH buffering (5.9~6.26) by $H_2CO_3/HCO_3$ couple. Electrical conductivity ranges from 1,900 to 3100 $\mu$S/cm. Environmental isotopic data $(^{2}H/^{1}H, ^{18}O/^{16}O \;and \;^3H)$ indicates that the water is of meteoric origin recharged in the Cretaceous sedimetary strata distributed in upper part of the catchment area at least before 1950s, The high $P_{co_2}$ and carbon isotope data (${\delta}^{13}C=-3\sim-0.2\textperthousand$) suggest that the potential source of carbonated mineral water was originated in deep-seated $CO_2$ as wel as aboundant carbonate minerals of sedimentary desimetary rocks. The major source minerals of the dissoved species in the carbonated mineral water appear to be carbonate minerals, albite and K-feld-spar in sedimentrary rocks.

In this study, the computational structural dynamic modeling of floating offshore wind turbine system is presented using efficient equivalent modeling technique. Structural dynamic behaviors of the offshore floating platform with 5MW wind turbine system have been analyzed using computational multi-body dynamics based on the finite element method. The considered platform configuration of the present offshore wind turbine model is the typical spar-buoy type. Equivalent stiffness and damping properties of the floating platform were extracted from the results of the baseline model. Dynamic responses for the floating wind turbine models are presented and compared to investigate its structural dynamic characteristics. It is important shown that the results of the present equivalent modeling technique show good and reasonable agreements with those by the fully coupled analysis considering complex floating body dynamics.

Human Powered Aircraft (HPA) should be light in weight and have high efficiency because power source of propulsion is human muscles. Airframe structure takes up most of empty weight of aircraft, so weight reduction of structure is very important issue for HPA. In this paper, design/analysis/test procedures for ultra light weight structure of the HPA developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) are explained briefly. Structural design is conducted through case studies on HPA in the USA and Japan. Loads analysis is performed to calculate design loads which is needed for structural design and analysis. Structural analysis is conducted for structure sizing. Static strength test of main wing spar which is primary structure of wing is performed to verify structural integrity.

A GFRP based composite blade was developed for a 750kW wind energy conversion system of type class I. The blade sectional geometry was designed to have a general shell-spar structure. The load cases specified in the IEC61400-1 international specification were considered. For withstanding all relevant extreme loads, the structural analysis for the complete blade was performed using a commercial FEM code. The static load carrying capacity, buckling stability, blade tip deflection and natural frequencies at various rotational speeds were evaluated to satisfy the strength requirements in accordance with the IEC61400-1 and GL Regulations. For designing a lightweight blade, the thickness and the lay-up pattern of the skin-foam sandwich structures were optimized iteratively using the DOT program T-bolts were used for joining the blade root and the hub, which were modeled using a 3D FE volume model. In order to confirm the safety of the root connection, the static stresses of the thick root laminate and the steel. bolts were predicted by taking account of the bolt pretension and the root bending moments. The calculated stresses were compared with the material strengths.
