A modified space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategy based on vector space decomposition and its equivalent carrier-based PWM realization are proposed in this paper, which is suitable for six-phase asymmetrical dual stator induction machines (DSIMs). A DSIM is composed of two sets of symmetrical three-phase stator windings spatially shifted by 30 electrical degrees and a squirrel-cage type rotor. The proposed SVPWM technique can reduce torque ripples and suppress the harmonic currents flowing in the stator windings. Above all, the equivalent relationship between the proposed SVPWM technique and the carrier-based PWM technique has been demonstrated, which allows for easy implementation by a digital signal processor (DSP). Simulation and experimental results, carried out separately on a simulation system and a 3.0 kW DSIM prototype test bench, are presented and discussed.
Two PWM techniques using space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) are proposed for a two-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by a two-phase eight-switch inverter. A two-phase motor with two symmetric stator windings is usually driven by a two-phase four-, six-, or eight-switch inverter. Compared with a four- and six-switch inverter, a two-phase eight-switch inverter can achieve larger power output. For two-phase motor drives, the SVPWM technique achieves more efficient DC bus voltage utilization and less harmonic distortion of the output voltage. For a two-phase PMSM fed by a two-phase eight-switch inverter under a normal SVPWM scheme, each of the eight PWM trigger signals for the inverter have to be changed twice in a cycle, causing a higher PWM frequency. Based on the normal SVPWM scheme, two effective SVPWM schemes are investigated in order to reduce the PWM frequency by rearranging four comparison values, while achieving the same function as the normal PWM scheme. A detailed explanation of the normal and two proposed SVPWM schemes is illustrated in the paper. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed schemes achieve a better steady performance with lower switching losses compared with the normal scheme.
This paper proposes a simple space vector PWM (SVPWM) scheme including overmodulation operation for 3-level NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) Inverters. The proposed scheme features a simple decision and calculation procedure for determining switching times in the overmodulation range by utilizing the duty calculation method used in 2-level inverters and the minimum phase error projection method widely employed in motor drive systems. The proposed scheme does not need to detect the angle of the reference vector or calculate trigonometric functions to determine the magnitude of the voltage vector. The magnitude of the angle of the new reference voltage vector is decided in advance with the help of the Fourier Series Expansion to extend the linearity of the output voltage of 3-level inverters in the overmodulation region. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed SVPWM scheme including overmodulation operation for 3-level NPC inverters.

This paper proposes a common-mode voltage reduction method base on SVPWM(Space-Vector Pulsewidth Modulation) in three phase PWM converter/inverter system. By shifting the active voltage vector of inverter and aligning this to the active vector of converter, it is possible to eliminate a common-mode voltage pulse in one control period. Since the proposed PWM method maintains the active voltage vector, it does not affect the control performance of PWM converter/inverter system. Without any extra hardware, overall common mode voltage dv/dt and conrresponding leakage current can be reduced to two-third of the conventional three phase symmetric SVPWM scheme.

In this paper the space voltage vector pulsewidth modulation(SVPWM) technique for two-phase inverter is proposed. The two-phase SVPWM technique is applicable to two-phase induction motor drives. The two-phase inverter using two-phase SVPWM technique cannot generate zero voltage vectors, but four space vectors. A reference voltage vector in the square locus is realized by adjusting four space vectors. The switching sequence "two-phase symmetrical modulation" used in two-phase SVPWM is proposed. Practical verification of theoretical predictions is presented to conform the capabilities of the new technique.technique.

The advanced space vector PWM is Implemented for the control system using high arithmetic performance microprocessor such as DSP. It is difficult to realize the complicate SLIM which is applied to SVPWM system, but widely used in vector control system or servo control system for AC motor because of its high performance in current control. In this paper, we use the dynamic characteristic analyzing method that can calculate efficiently the end effect by using equivalent circuit methode in the operating SLIM system modeling and examine the dynamic characteristics of SVPWM with PI controller.
The space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique is a popular PWM method for medium voltage drive applications. Conventional SVPWM (CSVPWM) and bus clamped SVPWM (BCSVPWM) are the most common SVPWM techniques. This paper evaluates the performance of various advanced BCSVPWM strategies in terms of their harmonic distortion and switching loss based on a uniform frame work. A uniform frame work, pulse number captures the performance parameter variations of different SVPWM strategies for various number of samples with heterogeneous pulse numbers. This work compares different advanced BCSVPWM techniques based on the modulation index and location of the clamping position (zero vector changing angle ) of a phase in a line cycle. The frame work provides a fixed fundamental frequency of 50Hz. The different BCSVPWM switching strategies are implemented and compared experimentally on a 415V, 2.2kW, 50Hz, 3-phase induction motor drive which is fed from an IGBT based 2 KVA voltage source inverter (VSI) with a DC bus voltage of 400 V. A low cost PIC microcontroller (PIC18F452) is used as the controller platform.
This paper deals with an algorithm for controlling ac output voltage of Z-source inverter using Modified SVPWM (abbreviated as MSVPWM). Unlike the conventional space vector pulse width modulation, MSVPWM has one extra shoot-through zero time $T_{sh}$. During shoot-through zero time, both switches in a leg are conducted simultaneously in order to boost inverter output voltage to any desirable value regardless the line voltage. The algorithm to control linearly the capacitor voltage is suggested to improve the performance of Z-source inverter system. The performance of Z-source inverter using above algorithms is demonstrated in simulation results using PSIM. Index terms-Z-source inverter (ZSI), shoot-through time, three-phase carrier-based PWM, space vector PWM (SVPWM), modified space vector PWM (MSVPWM).

In this paper, a novel overmodulation strategy for space-vector PWM(SVPWM) inverters to utilize dc link voltage fully Is presented. The proposed strategy uses the concept of SVPWM based on the zero sequence signal(offset voltage) injection principle. So, by modifying the pole voltage simply, the linear control of inverter output voltage over the whole overmodulation range can be achieved easily The proposed strategy is so simple that its practical implementation is easy. The validity of the proposed strategy is confirmed by the experimental results.

Micro-source units having power ratings in thousands of watts can provide power quality with higher reliability and efficiency than the conventional large scale units. This paper develops switching level model of micro-source and studies the characteristics of the micro-grid consisting of multiple micro-sources and interfaced with electric power system. The developed model adopts the space vector PWM to fully utilize the capacity of inverter. The interaction of the grid connected micro-sources and the characteristics of the control system parameters are investigated. Micro-sources and micro-grid are implemented using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results show that the proposed model is efficient for studying micro-grid system.
