  • Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) and Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) are preparing for the first Korean astronaut program based on the mid and long-term basic plan for space development of Korea from the year of 2003. KARI is making plans for the Korean astronaut's missions with Russia. To participate in the International Space Station (ISS) utilization through the Korean astronaut program, KARI investigates a lot of manned space missions. Among the suggested items, Earth observation on the Russian Module of ISS is the one expected mission for a Korean astronaut. This paper is intended to give readers a brief introduction of ISS Russian Module and research fields of Earth observation for astronaut's mission.

  • While the reverberation mapping technique is the best available method for measuring black hole mass in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) beyond the local volume, this method has been mainly applied to relatively low-to-moderate luminosity AGNs at low redshift. We present the strategy of the Seoul National University AGN Monitoring Project, which aims at measuring the time delay of the $H{\beta}$ line emission with respect to AGN continuum, using a sample of relatively high luminosity AGNs out to redshift z ~ 0.5. We present simulated cross correlation results based on a number of mock light curves, in order to optimally determine monitoring duration and cadence. We describe our campaign strategy based on the simulation results and the availability of observing facilities. We present the sample selection, and the properties of the selected 100 AGNs, including the optical luminosity, expected time lag, black hole mass, and Eddington ratio.

  • This research aims at the provision for all of the basic data upon the arrangement of organization and allocation which include the details of required spaces and adequate area in the design of Multipurpose Senior Centers. This analyzed research is to be proposed for Multipurpose Senior Center in various local areas in the city, it aims to clarify the existing condition in the operation of each organizational required space. Further more this research examines their relationship between the facilities available and the population use of the local elderly age. Consequently, the Daejeon Multipurpose Senior Center, including participation in the program and the very high frequency of use of the room entails a smooth progress of the program, improves the quality of space and based on the initial design is fully reflected in the step.

  • This study analyzes the space composition and the construction system of performance facilities, and research the area construction ratio of each necessary space to establish the specialized performance facilities. This study aims the exclusive facilities for opera among the various performance facilities at home and abroad. The results are as following, 1) Performance space is divided into Public space, Performance space and Administration space on the basis of user. 2) The difference in the scale of performance facilities depends on the fractionation of performance supporting facilities and the grade of specialty rather than the number of seats. 3) The scale and zoning of space in the performance facilities to be built in the future, it is necessary to consider ensuring the production support space, the organic connection of support space and the integrated public space.
