This paper presents computer graphics applying the traditional Korean house(Hanok) style interior to unit-care space of Welfare Facility and proposes the possibility as interior design and construction materials. In this paper, the proposed computer graphic-based model is a single-story building that provides convenient traffic between rooms. Computer graphic-based model is presented by Auto CAD, 3D program (Sketch-UP v.8), rendering program (Podium v.2) based on the traditional Korean house and related work of unit-care welfare facility. Computer graphic-based model that combined unit-care and the traditional Korean house has the following characteristics. In each room of living space, wallpaper and flooring Korean paper(Hnaji) is considered and windows, door, furniture of traditional pattern were placed. The living room(Daechung) that is representative of the traditional Korean house and the corridor (toenmaru) are the elements to save the image of the traditional Korean house as much as possible. Especially, the corridor (toenmaru) is placed to conveniently use in nursing-care facility and home-care support facility. A public space is placed around the inside court (An-madang), while the living space (unit-care) has a sense of independence by separation. Bathroom and kitchen have a modern design for functionality than aesthetic elements.
This study has main purpose to understand the traditional house, not by outside researcher's but by inside dweller's view. The house in Geochang, is descendent house of Jeong-On who was faithful scholar at Chosen Dynasty. In order to understand, I restore firstly the house form and space at traditional era, 60 years ago, and every dwellers not only family members but also servants and guests, by interviewing old matriarch. One of the main rules of the house disposition is Ancester worshipping life. Worshipping floor of Anchae, main building, is located unusually in front of Shrine for Jeong-On, in order to connect all activities directly. Sarangchae, men's building, opened to the funeral mourners, is separated by a wall because women have to serve foods and wail at the backside. Space for everyday life is separated by man/woman, insider/outsider, master/subordinate. Agricultural production is also key factor of the space allocation: big storage buildings for rice crop needed to tenant farming. Both activities of ancestor worship ceremony and guest greeting need large kitchen annex area for food preparation and serving space of rear veranda floor. A number of guests visit the house: guest-greeting activity is taken place from the family pavilion, Neungheo-Jeong and Saranchae by the social position. This study show that architectural space and form of the house reflects exactly dwellers life.
The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the plan of fishing village house in the Shikoku district. The research was carried out by field survey and measurement of the traditional house and street system in Higashimachi area of Tomoura. The results of this study are as follows. The traditional house of Higashimachi area is to be taking the plan of Machiya form that is the residence form of a city without being related a fishing village. And the street system is as orderly comparatively as a city. This is not the thing as that is surprised when we think the fact that Higashimachi area has maintained close relation historically with Kyoto, Osaka, etc. However, as for the house of Higashimachi area, the scale is smaller in comparison with Machiya, there is a fundamental difference in terms of the house for the exclusive use of residence. Machiya is the dual constitution of business space and life space. To it the house of Higashimachi area is doing the unitary constitution. Mise is the original opening device (a kind of the front door fitting) of traditional house of Higashimachi area and has the functions that complement narrow space and of offer community space. Finally, the traditional house in this area is equipped with all the residence functions of necessary minimums, although the scale residence is small. It is said that this is the case of a 'small residence' in a Japanese residence.
During the rapid economic growth, many buildings have been built unfaithfully. As a result, the buildings have finished their role in 10 years with dangerous structural elements and deteriorative facilities. This study planned to renovate an old independent house as an original and individual interior space which is its advantage. A house is not the place to eat and sleep, but multiple space with various functions, such as shelter, working, rest, and education. The purpose of this study was to make house environment useful and comfortable by understanding such a situation and by predicting future problems.
The purpose of this study is to understand various styles of Korean house living, up to the present, to identify apartment living as the main house living, and plan and propose the interior unit spaces for apartment house based on the analysis on living space. A survey study was conducted to deduce the traditional major life style and its changes along with favorable housing spaces. In conclusion, this study proposed the unit space planning requirements that satisfies the conceptual and interior elements for habitant's characteristics and preference according to major life style as follow; 1) As the Ahn-bang(master bed room) has been changed from traditional space concept, it is mainly used as private space for husband and wife, and its utilized period is mostly at night time, the back-arrangement of the Ahn-bang should be considered. 2) As the living room is central space in the apartment housing and has complex functions which is utilized as space for family gathering and guest reception similar to the Ahn-bang of the traditional house, it should secure more space and it is desirable to arrange the space as open type by combining the pathway area. 3) As for the kitchen/dining room, the kitchen should be isolated from external attraction and the space for storing and preparing traditional foods should also considered, and the dining room should be arranged as open type. This study also suggests that since the apartment housing must be an integrated environment for habitants which satisfy behavioral, physical and mental elements simultaneously, the unit housing space should be constantly analyzed in various ways to produce a housing space which meet both their changing major life style and the temporal environment.
This paper is the continuation of the fomer researching "A Study on the Higher-Class houses in Moon-Kyeung Region." and "A Study on the Higher-Class house in Young-Duk area." The study was made to examine the administrative districts in Kyeung Sang Buk Do Province, Korea. This study was aimed to investigate how the houses very according to natural factors including geography and climate. The conclusion is the following: 1) The □-type (A Court House) in the block plan of housing is composed mostly. 2) The □-type (A Winge-House) in the floor plan of housing is more composed than the pure □-type. 3) L-type of the inner space(women's space) is mostly characterized in the floor type and in the type of span-dividision, one and half(1½) spaned house is superior. 4) The majority of the floor plan of the inner space is characterized of the possessing the openning half(½)-spaned room and inner storage room. 5) The cornet-flooring room of outer space(man's space) is charaterized mostly in the floor type.
Living spaces are the results of social environment and also the reflection of the viewpoints by their residents toward human culture and society. Therefore, in studying living spaces, the true essence of the spaces could be easily distorted when cultural and symbolic motives and values are disregarded and only their apparent characteristics are looked into. Hence, it's necessary to simultaneously understand both physical dwelling spaces from architecture's view points and social ideas, simultaneously, of people who form and interact with the spaces. Hence, this paper tries to study housing religion which is one of shamanistic religions which, in turn, have been the fundamental element of ancient religions and came into existence on the basis of dwelling spaces. This study presumes that house religion may have been permeated with its creators' ideas about living and those ideas could be one of those factors which plays a role in organizing of dwelling spaces. As such, with these prior analyses, this thesis attempts to understand the meaning of various dwelling spaces via the characteristics and functionalities of various house spirits which are mentioned in a local house religion and also will find out spatial harmony of Korean traditional living spaces by way of corelations among living spaces, people, and personalized house spirits. Almost all traditional Korean houses have assigned a house spirit to their individual dwelling space. This means a traditional house was considered as a scared space in a secular world called human society and the space was actually intended to protect sacredness of dwelling places from earthliness outside. So when the hierarchy of house spirits in housing religion is projected to a Korean traditional house, it can be shown that a dwelling house as a building was personified to a respectable human status. In other words, it can be concluded that each space was synonymous with a dwelling place for each house spirit and was considered a sacred godly place. In a nutshell, not only each space in a Korean traditional house was a physical and functional space, but also it formed a scared spatial place along with the concept of house spirits intending to ward off disasters and enjoy a comfortable life through those religious symbols and meanings. Housing shamanistic religion which has long been existing with residents and their lives is seeped with the viewpoints of the residents toward life, and hence understanding the meanings and organization of Korean traditional housing can reveal commonly practiced principles of spatial organization of the traditional houses. Therefore an analysis of Korean traditional housing on the basis of humanistic social ideas will help learn Korea's traditional houses which need to be understood in various methods.

This study is purposed to analyze of House Vision exhibition and projects in Japan. The contemporary residence has been planned and designed with fixed territory and boundary of rooms. According to the symposium of House Vision, the spatial boundary can be studied in the aspect of territory that molds the experience of residents. So, this study reviews Aldo van Eyck's concept of 'in-between'. Through the analysis, House Vision exhibition is revealed that the housing models present architectural characteristics of middleware and third place. The cognition of internal and external boundary stems from movements and activities of residents. That is the dwelling and residential space determined by users and residents. In this regard, 'in-between' of House Vision has structures(multilayer) causing various relationships to be perceived, so as to connect with the dwelling and activities of residents. As a result, it has relational meanings of sharing, as well as makes possible other community life to be done. According to the projects of House Vision, the units and cores have created the new connections and relationships between privacy and publicity. In conclusion, this research shows a new direction of the spatial strategies on House Vision exhibition in Japan.
