System Design of SIGMA(KHUSAT-3) CubeSat Mission

  • Kyung Hee University has been developing a CubeSat for the space science mission called SIGMA (Scientific cubesat with Instrument for Global Magnetic field and rAdiation), which includes TEPC (Tissue Equivalent Proportional Counter) and a magnetometer. SIGMA has a 3-unit CubeSat, and the weight is about 3.2 kg. The main payload is TEPC which can measure the Linear Energy Transfer (LET) spectrum and calculate the equivalent dose for the complicated radiation field in the space. The magnetometer is a secondary payload using a miniaturized fluxgate magnetometer. We expect it to have a 1 nT resolution in the dynamic range of ${\pm}65535$ nT. An Attitude Control System (ACS) spins the SIGMA spacecraft 4 rpm with the spin axis perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. Full duplex communication is consists of VHF uplink and S-band and UHF downlink. In this paper, we introduce the system design and the scientific purpose of the SIGMA CubeSat mission.

이동로봇을 위한 RFID Smart Floor (RFID Smart Floor for Mobile Robot)

  • 본 논문에서는 Smart Floor라는 새로운 개념의 정보공간을 제안한다. Smart Floor는 이동로봇의 경로유도에 필요한 정보를 저장하고 있는 공간으로, 이동로봇은 외부의 도움 없이 목표위치에 도달할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 RFID 태그 포장을 통하여 Smart Floor를 구현하고, UHF(Ultra High Frequency) 대역의 수동 RFID 시스템을 장착한 이동로봇을 제작하였다. Smart Floor에 저장되는 정보는 Q학습을 통해 미리 시뮬레이션 된 값으로, 임의의 시작위치에서 목표위치까지 가는데 필요한 방향값과 Q값이다. 본 연구는 Smart Floor의 구성과 정보를 이용하는 이동로봇 어플리케이션 개발에 도움을 줄 것이다.

The Optimal Controller Design of Buck-Boost Converter by using Adaptive Tabu Search Algorithm Based on State-Space Averaging Model

  • Normally, the artificial intelligence algorithms are widely applied to the optimal controller design. Then, it is expected that the best output performance is achieved. Unfortunately, when resulting controller parameters are implemented by using the practical devices, the output performance cannot be the best as expected. Therefore, the paper presents the optimal controller design using the combination between the state-space averaging model and the adaptive Tabu search algorithm with the new criteria as two penalty conditions to handle the mentioned problem. The buck-boost converter regulated by the cascade PI controllers is used as the example power system. The results show that the output performance is better than those from the conventional design method for both input and load variations. Moreover, it is confirmed that the reported controllers can be implemented using the realistic devices without the limitation and the stable operation is also guaranteed. The results are also validated by the simulation using the topology model of MATLAB and also experimentally verified by the testing rig.

한글정보처리에서 다음절의 자동식별 (Automatic Discriminating of Monosyllable in Korean Characters)

  • 24개의 기본요소를 가지고 2-7개 요소로서 한 문자를 구성하는 한글 data의 연속입력으로부터 space code없이 단음절을 자동식별하는 한 system을 제안한다. 3천여자의 한글을 30종의 form으로 form화하고, 그들 form에 대한 7개의 form 특징과 문자구간을 검출하여 단음절을 식별한다. 그 결과 연속입력되는 한글 data의 처리에서 음절분리용 space code를 사용했을 때와 비교하여 컴퓨터의 기억용량이 약 25% 절감되고 처리속도가 약 30% 향상된다.

공간벡터 PWM에서 과변조시 출력전압의 선형화 및 고조파 분석 (Linearization and harmonic analysis of output voltages in overmodulation range of space vector PWM)

  • This paper describes a relationship of a space vector PWM and a sinusoidal PWM and presents that the space vector PWM can produce linearly the output voltage to the unity MI(modulation index). At first, reference angles and holding angles are derived from expanding a Fourier series of the reference voltage waveform and then the angles are used for the inverter switching to linearize transfer characteristics of the inverter. In addition, the harmonic components of the output voltage are analyzed and on-line control is shown to be feasible by approximating in piecewise-linearization the reference and holding angles versus the MI. In V/f control of the induction motor, it is verified by the experiment that the motor current is changed smoothly for the variation of the inverter input voltage and the change of the reference voltage.

An Equivalent Carrier-based Implementation of a Modified 24-Sector SVPWM Strategy for Asymmetrical Dual Stator Induction Machines

  • A modified space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategy based on vector space decomposition and its equivalent carrier-based PWM realization are proposed in this paper, which is suitable for six-phase asymmetrical dual stator induction machines (DSIMs). A DSIM is composed of two sets of symmetrical three-phase stator windings spatially shifted by 30 electrical degrees and a squirrel-cage type rotor. The proposed SVPWM technique can reduce torque ripples and suppress the harmonic currents flowing in the stator windings. Above all, the equivalent relationship between the proposed SVPWM technique and the carrier-based PWM technique has been demonstrated, which allows for easy implementation by a digital signal processor (DSP). Simulation and experimental results, carried out separately on a simulation system and a 3.0 kW DSIM prototype test bench, are presented and discussed.

Co60 Gamma-Ray Effects on the DAC-7512E 12-Bit Serial Digital to Analog Converter for Space Power Applications

  • The DAC-7512E is a 12-bit digital to analog converter that is low power and a single package with internal buffers. The DAC-7512E takes up minimal PCB area for applications of space power electronics design. The spacecraft mass is a crucial point considering spacecraft launch into space. Therefore, we have performed a TID test for the DAC-7512E 12-bit serial input digital to analog converter to reduce the spacecraft mass by using a low-level Gamma-ray irradiator with $Co^{60}$ gamma-ray sources. The irradiation with $Co^{60}$ gamma-rays was carried out at doses from 0 krad to 100 krad to check the error status of the device in terms of current, voltage and bit error status during conversion. The DAC-7512E 12-bit serial digital to analog converter should work properly from 0 krad to 30 krad without any error.

  • 본 논문에서는 수신기에서 채널 추정을 필요로 하지 않는 MWSK (M-ary orthogonal Walsh sequence keying)를 적용한 ST-MWSK (space-time MWSK)를 제안한다. ST-MWSK의 noncoherent ML (maximum-likelihood) 검출기의 계산 복잡도는 기존의 ST-FSK (ST frequency-shift keying) 방식에 비해 크게 줄어든다. 또한 ST-MWSK는 ST-FSK와 거의 동일한 성능을 나타낸다.

  • C.E.Shannon에 의하여 정보이론의 기초가 확립된 이래 각국언어에 대한 많은 연구가 발표되고 있다. 마찬가지로 한글 element(요소)를 정보공학에 적용하기 위해서는 한글 정보원을 구성하는 모든 element(요소)에 대한 확률이 적용되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 그간 누락된 Space(공백소)가 포함되었을 때의 엔트로피(entropy)와 리던던시(redundancy)를 고려하였다. 따라서 본 결과는 기존 각종 한글 정보처리장치의 재평가 및 새로운 정보장치의 코-드(code)화에 있어서 수요한 자료로서 사용될 것이다.

DSP-Based Simplified Space-Vector PWM for a Three-Level VSI with Experimental Validation

  • Multilevel inverters have gained attention in high-power applications due to their numerous advantages in comparison with conventional two-level inverters. In this paper a simplified Space-Vector Modulation (SVM) algorithm for a three-level Neutral-Point Clamped (NPC) inverter is implemented on a Freescale$^{(R)}$ DSP56F8037. The algorithm is based on a simplification of the space-vector diagram for a three-level inverter so that it can be used with a two-level inverter. Once the simplification has been achieved, calculation of the dwell times and the switching sequences are carried out in the same way as for the two-level SVM method. Details of the hardware design are included. Experimental results are analyzed to validate the performance of the simplified algorithm.
