  • In this study, a new idea for developing a space scale for measuring mass in a microgravity environment was proposed by using the inertial force properties of an object to measure its mass. The space scale detected the momentum change of the specimen and reference masses by using a load-cell sensor as the force transducer based on Newton's laws of motion. In addition, the space scale calculated the specimen mass by comparing the inertial forces of the specimen and reference masses in the same acceleration field. By using this concept, a space scale with a capacity of 3 kg based on the law of momentum conservation was implemented and demonstrated under microgravity conditions onboard International Space Station (ISS) with an accuracy of ${\pm}1g$. By the performance analysis on the space scale, it was verified that an instrument with a compact size could be implemented and be quickly measured with a reasonable accuracy under microgravity conditions.

  • The objective of this research is to investigate the behavior of the $F\"{o}rstner$ interest operator, which has been widely used for detecting distinct points in the field of digital photogrammetry and computer vision, in scale space. Considering the hugh volume of digital image utilized in digital photogrammetry, the scale space (image pyramid) approach which appears to be a solution for enhancing image processing, began to gain its attention. The investigation of the $F\"{o}rstner$ interest operator in scale space generated by the Gaussian kernel shows its behavior and feasibility for being used in practice.

  • The aim of this paper is to examine satisfaction of residents and preference on the outdoor space's design by multi-family housing complex scale. So we divide outdoor space into space for green land, space for physical training and play, space for walking and space for rest and landscape facilities. The major findings of this analysis are follows : Multi-family housing complex scale is the bigger, it is recognized by same ratio on specific outdoor space in housing complex that are space for green land, space for physical training and play, space for rest and landscape facilities. And space for physical training and play is found commonly into the poorest space in housing complex. Evaluation for resident's perception on outdoor space by multifamily housing complex scale shows that housing complex scale is the bigger, resident's satisfaction is the lower. That means that housing complex of large scale can't satisfy the diverse resident's demand.

  • In this paper, we introduce the implementation of the security system using iris recognition. This system acquires images with infrared camera and extracts the 2D code from a infrared image which uses scale-space filtering and concavity. We examine the system by (i) extract 2D code and (ii) compare the code that stored on the server (iii) mearsure FAR and FRR using pattern matching. Experiment results show that the proposed method is very suitable.

  • In this paper we propose a detection method of the medial axis of the continuous stripes on the LoG scale-space. Our method detects the medial axis of continuous stripes iteratively by varying the scale of LoG operator. Small-scale LoG operator detects two +/- pole pairs centered on the edge positions of stripe by the zero-crossing detection. The more increase the scale of LoG scale-space, the more close two poles to the medial axis of stripe. The medial axis of continuous stripe is the position where two poles is overlapped. The proposed method detected robustly the medial axis of continuous stripes stronger than the thinning methods used to binary image.

  • To operate a process plant safely and economically, process monitoring is very important. Process monitoring is the task to identify the state of the system from sensor data. Process monitoring includes data acquisition, regulatory control, data reconciliation, fault detection, etc. This research focuses on the data recon-ciliation using scale-space filtering and fault detection using functional-link associative neural networks. Scale-space filtering is a multi-resolution signal analysis method. Scale-space filtering can extract highest frequency factors(noise) effectively. But scale-space filtering has too large calculation costs and end effect problems. This research reduces the calculation cost of scale-space filtering by applying the minimum limit to the gaussian kernel. And the end-effect that occurs at the end of the signal of the scale-space filtering is overcome by using extrapolation related with the clustering change detection method. Nonlinear principal component analysis methods using neural network have been reviewed and the separately expanded functional-link associative neural network is proposed for chemical process monitoring. The separately expanded functional-link associative neural network has better learning capabilities, generalization abilities and short learning time than the exiting-neural networks. Separately expanded functional-link associative neural network can express a statistical model similar to real process by expanding the input data separately. Combining the proposed methods-modified scale-space filtering and fault detection method using the separately expanded functional-link associative neural network-a process monitoring system is proposed in this research. the usefulness of the proposed method is proven by its application a boiler water supply unit.

  • Recently general hospitals in Korea are focusing on healing environment which care for patients on the side of spirit and psychology without medical treatment. For the reason, architects are planning a public space on a large scale in which can be held cultural performances and artistic events. Those of social activities can be effective healing environment according to the "Anthroposophical medicine" studied by Rudolf Steiner. To the patient, Social healing environment is relation with normal life and back to the life. The case of a large-scale public space on hospital in foreign country shows the effect of healing environment through social community. So it is valuated as a social healing environment and community space. Even though the large-scale public space has been being increased in our circumstance, there is no evaluation of use on it. So there is no idea how people are satisfied with public space to stay and form a concourse by themselves. The purpose of this study is to find out the desire of people, who use the large-scale public space by analysis of observation research and interview in the general hospitals. And finally this study suggests the factors which can realize social healing environment on the planning of public space in hospital architecture.

  • In this study, we estimated the topside scale height of plasma density (Hm) using the Swarm constellation and ionosondes in Korea. The Hm above Korean Peninsula is generally around 50 km. Statistical distributions of the topside scale height exhibited a complex dependence upon local time and season. The results were in general agreement with those of Tulasi Ram et al. (2009), who used the same method to calculate the topside scale height in a mid-latitude region. On the contrary, our results did not fully coincide with those obtained by Liu et al. (2007), who used electron density profiles from Arecibo Incoherent Scatter Radar (ISR) between 1966 and 2002. The disagreement may result from the limitations in our approximation method and data coverage used for estimations, as well as the inherent dependence of Hm on Geographic LONgitude (GLON).

  • In this paper, we derive a change of scale formula for conditional Wiener integrals, as integral transforms, of possibly unbounded functions over Wiener paths in abstract Wiener space. In fact, we derive the change of scale formula for the product of the functions in a Banach algebra which is equivalent to both the Fresnel class and the space of measures of bounded variation over a real separable Hilbert space, and the $L_p-type$cylinder functions over Wiener paths in abstract Wiener space. As an application of the result, we obtain a change of scale formula for the conditional analytic Fourier-Feynman transform of the product of the functions.

  • While hyperspectral data are very rich in information, their processing poses several challenges such as computational requirements, noise removal and relevant information extraction. In this paper, the application of advanced scale-space filtering to selected hyperspectral bands was investigated. In particular, a pre-processing tool, consisting of anisotropic diffusion and morphological leveling filtering, has been developed, aiming to an edge-preserving smoothing and simplification of hyperspectral data, procedures which are of fundamental importance during feature extraction and object detection. Two scale space parameters define the extent of image smoothing (anisotropic diffusion iterations) and image simplification (scale of morphological levelings). Experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the developed scale space filtering for the enhancement and smoothing of hyperspectral remote sensing data and their advantage against watershed over-segmentation problems and edge detection.
