Because one city's public environment is the central axis to determine its first impression and also connected with its overall value, the region's value show obvious differences by its urban scape design. Therefore we analyzed current cityscape of Tokyo's Marunouchi street and Avenue des Champs-Elys$\acute{e}$es in Paris which applied how to connect visual and physical characteristics of urban space representation to outdoor space's nature well, and tried to reconsider what is our design identity of creative cityscape.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between panoramic perception and space organization for restoration of urban environment and architecture. Panorama is a collective visual catalogue composed by series of perspective images. It is a product from continuous movements of viewer by defamilarizing real image and structuring order between city and building. Through understanding the panoramic image, the viewer is able to achieve the total image of the city. For example, achieving visual perception of the city by employing the panoramic view from different historical backgrounds and cultures, Berlin developed its urban characteristic by rebuilding panoramic view as an aesthetic device. First, this paper mention theory of panorama as an aesthetic device for shaping the city from the building. Second, this paper analyze the relationships between characteristics of panorama and historical contexts for why those panoramic views are valuable by mentioning the Altes Museum, the Berlin National Gallery, Museum of Modern Literature, and Folkwang Museum of panoramic view. In conclusion, this paper argues that visual perception such as panoramic view is the valuable device for organizing the image of the city's own identity. Constructing vision of each city influences not only shaping the city but also mapping the mental views of the building. Also, historical conditions and open spaces are one of the inherent elements combined with panoramic view for establishing urban identity. In search for good place making, it is important to understand the role of the historical context and fabric plan in shaping how a resident sees - literally, sees- their city with buildings. Berlin serve as excellent counter example in how the valuable place making panoramic mental views of urbanities take shape.

  • This study intended to discover the communicative characteristics of libraries, such as locality, communality, interactivity, and organic vitality, and measure as to whether the components constituting them were appropriate, and based on the research results, it was intended to establish the role of public libraries based on communicative characteristics. As a result of the study, it finally turned out that the libraries had the four communicative characteristics of 'locality', 'communality', 'interactivity', and 'organic vitality'. The four communicative characteristics may be classified into 16 factors and 63 detailed factors accordingly. Examining the characteristics of library communication, first, locality means that local residents create and maintain the identity of a social, historical, and cultural locality while sharing the space of a library. In the library, the users can receive local life information or create a cultural identity of the locality through communication between the users. Second, communality is a fundamental factor in forming a community of local residents and represents the characteristics of a group formed based on place and geographical characteristics, culture and belief system, and interests. Third, interactivity refers to a kind of behavior in which users interact with other users, information providers, and books and information in the library to give and receive influence. The actions in which two or more objects share knowledge, thoughts, emotions, and opinions may be seen as being accomplished through interaction. Lastly, organic vitality means seeking the continuous maintenance and development of the community, and creating a lasting characteristic even in the changing environment of the library.

  • In this article, I intended to develop the contents of regional learning in social studies and in geography education. In achieving the goal of regional teaming, we have to investigate three facets, i .e. theoretical, organizational, and practical facet. In particular, practical facet is very important one in that it is directly related to content development. As the criteria of content constitution, I proposed two elements, 'historical-geographical landscape'and 'region-related discourse' which are pertinent to the case region, Yonsan in Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. And then, on the basis of disciplinary results in geography, I developed the scope and sequence of contents by utilizing three lagers of space which are 'habitat space', 'social space', and 'power space', three geographical concepts of 'site→symbolic landscape→territoriality', and three spatial scales of 'local→inter-local →regional one'correspondingly.

  • Globalization, conversions, and OSMU (One Source Multi Use) in modern cultural industry is expanding fast, and global competition is soaring with a changing environment today. In fact, the development of one nation depends on its cultural creativity. Yet, there is an increasing need for a connection between space and culture since globalization homogenizes a nation's unique cultural identity and provides low level of utilization in digital cultural contents in terms of saving, conserving and maintaining data. In order to invigorate the cultural industry, there must be some information that provides public culture contents, which they can be freely searched, displayed, and re-produced. Ultimately, these public culture contents should be able to provide Culture Space. This text discusses how individuals produce the Culture Space, which provides digital information of time and space, from a relationship between culture and space. It also introduces the public Culture Contents service framework in order to provide culture information and combined Culture Contents.

  • Recent modern architecture shows a lot of cases that introduce natural light in indoor space, arousing diverse emotions within a minimal space by means of changes in the light. There are various causes for the background of these streams of times, and it may be said that pursuing the relationship between natural phenomena and space, using changes in light, is an important factor among them. This is closely linked to the raise of phenomenological architecture. In the case of Japan, there are many cases where the architectural language connected to the traditional architecture has been restructured to fit to modern architectural technique. The modern reinterpretation and development of the Japanese traditional effect of light and its meaning can be seen in cases of Kuma Kengo and Tadao Anndo. Of the modern architects that have used the appearance of spatial concept of light in Japanese architectural space, Kengo Kuma shows his attempt at finding identity in his designs through the acceptance and modern reinterpretation of orientalism of nature, along with the traditional and regional interpretation through materials and ways construction. It is his use oh light input used in traditional Japanese settings that have differentiated his work. On this, the present thesis intends to analyze and synthesize what impressions Kengo Kuma's unique methods of light production create in the formation of users' spatial perception, how the unique encounter of light and materials seems to perceivers, and the characteristics of his light production and expression that harmonize space, human, and nature in the visual and perceptual experience of space;

  • These days, design has been used a very useful means to achieve differentiated urban images and establish the identity of a city, and as an effort to specialize local industries through design, public design projects are competing one another. However, the projects have considerable negative effects because of diverse reasons such as unorganized procedures. For continuous and organized projects which meet demands of the interested persons of public design, reasonable design management should be introduced with a use of design as a strategic means of management Therefore, this study examined the concepts of design management and its meaning in space and analysed cases of implementing components for management of public design projects. It searched for the factors of design management indicating design-oriented management and presented a strategy model which complements design-oriented management. The results of the study are presented as follows: First, strategic implementing components needed for a space design management process were obtained. A design recognition process aimed at what space aims at and needed to identify active components such as physical and indigenous environment. A design inquiry process included problem solution considering characteristics of multi-dimensional space active components, design development considering behavioral functions of humans, checklists needed to complete design and necessary components to institutionalize design. For definition of project space, guideline projects of public design should be progressed in the same context as urban design, and developmental directions of public design needed design inquiry in terms of space to create various experiences in space.
